D-Link WBR-2310
1.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Dec 2, 2010

The D-Link WBR-1310 is a Wireless G Router with RangerBooster G Technology for faster wireless signals and farther wireless coverage than conventional 802.11g devices. A leap up from the WBR-1310, the D-Link WBR-2310 delivers a faster connection, while still maintaining its peer’s four 10/100 Ethernet ports and one 10/100 WAN port. In addition, the WBR-2310 also includes advanced Firewall functions, including Network Address Translation (NAT), Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and MAC filtering. For users connected by Wi-Fi, the WBR-2310 supplies both 64/128-bit WEP and WPA protection algorithms. Like its intuitive peer, the WBR-2310 is simple to operate and install, making it a suitable choice for non-technical users seeking a simple and affordable network solution. The D-Link WBR-2310 retails for $64.99 and comes with a 1 year limited warranty. Features Wireless-G w/RangerBooster Four 10/100 LAN Ports One 10/100 WAN Port Advanced Firewall Basic Wireless Security Easy Installation 1 Year Limited Warranty Specifications ... PROS: (1) no bandwidth conflict with wireless phones (2) good bandwidth for wireless devices, can reach advertised speeds ... CONS: (1) setup isnt terribly simple, takes a little work (2) requires firmware upgrades to work properly (3) multiple connected devices tend to conflict with each others bandwidth (4) requires frequent rebooting and settings reset (5) wireless antenna tends to break internally early on in the products lifecycle

Terrible router
2 Star Review

Strengths: Connection speed

Weakness: Poor signal strength, random reboots, poor tech support

This router is terrible for gaming. It constantly reboots for no reason and the signal is easily lost. My router is connected via the WUA-2340 over a 10 meter distance and it seems like the 2 items combined together make one of the worst Wireless experience you could get.

Good Cheap Router
4 Star Review   By member aceskull - Mar 1, 2008

Strengths: Does its job

I got this router for 20 bucks after rebate just needed a cheap but a good router for my mom, so I could setup her wireless network. This router does its job, signal isn't the strongest but doesn't have lots of interference either. So for a rangebooster the range isn't boosted that much if used with other brand adaptors, but if used with WUA-2340 RangeBooster G Wireless adaptor it works better. 4 out of 5.

bad router
1 Star Review

Strengths: Good except its weakness

Weakness: can not maitain stable sharing between home network computers; bad custom support

I did a lot research to fix the file sharing problem, and posted my problem on a forum. From both of my research and the opinions from other people on the forum, it seems to be a problem with the router. Then I called the custom service. After about half an hour wait, someone picked up the phone and asked me for many information, then after I answered him I bought the router about 4 months ago, he told me that they do not support the kind of problem that I have, and suggested me to call Microsoft. Now, I realized that I could not return the problematic router because it passed the 3 month time limit. I think I am buying another one, but definitely not another DLINK.

It is really a nice router
5 Star Review   By member Sunbow - Dec 17, 2007

Strengths: Can support 3 pc at the same time and the speed is really good. Nice looking easy to config.

Weakness: It cannot support a old laptop by wireless.

I use one router before worth $5 after rebate and it always restarts so that I cannot chatting online. I pay more for this one on buy.com and it is really worth. I often run 2 pc and each running a p2p software and it seldom restart, moreover, my girl friend use it with her pc at the same time. I bought it with 2 rebates, one from buy.com and one from this review. It cost only 30 at the end and is very cheap. It supports more pc and is steady enough. However, before you choose it you should read carefully and decide whether it supports your pc wireless type.

Router works well, but poor tech support
3 Star Review   By member Simianfox - Nov 5, 2007

Strengths: Ease of installation, seems reliable

Weakness: Poor tech support, problems with Slingbox, no MAC address filtering

The WBR-2310 has been performing reliably for me for the last week or so. The installation took me about an hour and a half. The initial installation resulted in my not being able to access the Internet. After calling tech support, I could hardly understand the rep and the only thing that he told me that I didn't already know was to reset the router. While I was resetting the router, the rep actually hung up on me! After resetting the router and going through the installation again, I finally got the router working. Additionally, I am using a Slingbox with my router. It took me about 2.5 hours to figure out how to get my Slingbox working with the router (including enabling Port Forwarding correctly), but now it seems to be working fine and hopefully this router doesn't continue resetting after Slingbox use like my Linksys.

Good router & Features for the price
4 Star Review   By member aparr99 - Aug 25, 2007

Strengths: Good range, speed, price

Weakness: Mine resets often.

Overall this seems like a good router for the sale price. The range is good, 108mbps is great. Setup was simple. I did mine manually and it didn't take long. I'm getting some resets so I may need to review my initial setup to make sure there isn't a problem.

works great with D-Link DGS-2208 8-Port Gigabit switch
5 Star Review   By member linkai8424 - Aug 8, 2007

Strengths: solid performance, easy setup, very good web interface, supports DHCP reservation

I have paired this router with my D-Link DGS-2208 8-Port Gigabit switch, the set up works very well. The router performs very well so far, the signal is good. My Atheros based wireless card connects 108M full speed. The web interface is better than my older DI series wired router, more intuitive, the help tips on the right side is very clear. The DHCP reservation function is very pratical, and other routers are lacking this function. D-link also offer a free dynamic DNS account which to tie up with the dynamic IP address the ISPs usually give. And I also found the knowledge base on d-link's website is good. Overall, this is a very nice router, I would recommend this over other brands.

D-Link WBR-2310
3 Star Review   By member HerculesRockerfeller - Aug 4, 2007

Strengths: Price, signal strength

Weakness: Configuration options

For the price this is an excellent wireless router, and more than sufficient for my needs of a wireless network in a small home. The drawbacks I see are: * I have a difficult time receiving 100% signal strength. Signal strength varies a lot, but never really reaches much above 75%. Without enabling range extender, the numbers are even lower. I was able to receive 100% nearly all of the time with my old Linksys. * There is a bug in the firmware (v1.04) where you cannot enable hidden SSID (i.e. not broadcast your SSID) and still have range extender enabled. * There is a single device access list for both wireless and wired connections. I've owned older D-link devices that are the same way. I like to limit the wireless devices that can connect, but not limit wired access, but I cannot see a way to do this with this router. * The system time resets back to April 2002 every time the router resets. * The web interface does not work well with Camino, but updating the firmware to 1.04 makes it work better than the 1.02 I received.

Nice/Stable router
4 Star Review   By member scott0221 - Jul 10, 2007

Strengths: easy to install, stylish, good range

Weakness: none so far

Unimpressive
2 Star Review

Strengths: It was on sale, with a rebate.

Weakness: Setup disk did not configure properly with Windows XP, and foists upon you the Network Magic software for an additional $30 if you want features most people want.

I think D-Link assumes the setup program will work, and hasn't made allowances to assist people when it doesn't. Response from their tech support was not satisfactory to me. I hope to get it working someday, and I may feel better about the router and the company then. My two-star rating assumes that I WILL someday succeed. I do get a strong signal, but configuration (even with unsecured DHCP) has been aggravating to say the least.

Lousy router
1 Star Review

Strengths: good range, good speed

Weakness: nonexistent user manual, included software is useless, difficult set up

This router died on me after only 4 months. In order to send it back, I needed my receipt, which was already discarded. When it worked, it worked great. But one day it just decided to stop working. After spending over an hour with tech support, they told me it was defective.

- Soo easy to setup if doing manually. No problems with is it so far great range -this is replacing my old DI-624 which keeped on freezing when a computer or gaming system needed an ip, hated it because you have to unplug everytihng and unplug it and restart everytihng but the range is good full bar everywere in my house so far

Good router
4 Star Review   By member ascasuba - Mar 9, 2007

Strengths: Good build quality. So far it works without a glitch.

Weakness: Setup disk did not work on my system. Signal strength is a bit low.

I bought this router and the USB adapter after returning DIR-655 which was not compatible with my Palm Tx (b device) in a mixed n, b, g mode. This router works very well with both b and g devices although signal strength is lower than my previous Netgear router or the DIR-655. This may be due to the USB adapter as well. Installation was fairly easy with the exception that the setup disk did not recognize it as a D-Link router. I had the same problem with the DIR-655 so I did not have to call customer support to manually configure the router. Router is upstairs and a desktop with a g adapter is downstairs. I was able to get 36-54 Mbps using the g adapter but was able to boost it to 108 Mbps with the USB adapter. Works well with the Palm with the only issue being that signal strength is low in some places in the house. So far I am happy with the overall performance of the router.

Nice router
5 Star Review   By member hano - Feb 27, 2007

Strengths: Easy setup, good range

Weakness: So far, none

I bought this to replace a D-Link DI-524 that went south on me after a couple years of solid service. This router was easy to set up with the enclosed software and is working fine. It has better range than my prior router and is a good value for the price. D-Link has great tech support if you do have a problem.

Great router for home or small office
5 Star Review   By member pgonza02 - Jan 15, 2007

Strengths: Simple installation, features, price.

Weakness: None found so far.

I bought this router to replace a dying Linksys WRT54GS. One of reasons to pick the D-Links over the Linksys routers is the fact that they allow static DHCP reservations. So far range seems fine.

Questionable performance
2 Star Review

Strengths: Great signal Strength, handles internal network traffic well provided there isn't a wan connection.

Weakness: Restarts constantly, updated to latest firmware and still have issues.

With one computer behind the router, functions well, with two computers it starts randomly restarting. Upgraded firmware, Checked all settings, forwarded appropriate ports yet the router still overloads. This was tested with Numerous Games and General Surfing. I recommend moving up to one of the DLINK Game fuel powered routers with packet prioritization if you're a casual to heavy gamer.
