Asus RT-N16
3 Star Review  cnet.com - Aug 30, 2010

THE GOOD: The Asus RT-N16 multifunction wireless router has impressive specs including Gigabit Ethernet and two USB ports. It performs well and works great with third-party, open-source firmware. THE BAD: The Asus RT-N16 is bulky and doesnt support dual-band communication. Its USB ports dont provide enough power for bus-powered portable hard drives. When running Asus stock firmware, the router is buggy and has an unstable wireless signal. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Asus RT-N16 is a great, fun router for networking enthusiasts who want to use it with third-party open-source firmware, such as Tomato or DD-WRT. However, everyone else should wait until Asus provides a more stable version of the firmware.

Asus RT-N16
3.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Aug 24, 2011

The RT-N16 is a top-of-the-line 802.11n wireless router from Asus. It combines the RT-N13Us print-server capabilities, which allow all users on a network to use a multifunction printer connected to the router via USB, with the RT-N15s gigabit ethernet, which significantly increases transfer rates between computers on a local network. With an attached hard drive, the USB port also enables use as a media or FTP server; simplified FTP setup software is included. EZQoS technology enables adjustable bandwidth allocation to specific network activities, allowing users to prioritize online gaming over web browsing, for example. The RT-N16 also features a built-in download manager that supports HTTP, FTP, and BitTorrent protocols and enables non-stop file transfers. Features 802.11n wireless routing Gigabit ethernet (WAN + 4 LAN ports) Print server FTP server EZQoS network activity bandwidth allocation Download manager AiDisk file sharing ... PROS: (1) capable of handling many connections all at once without conflicts (2) maintains fast connections for all devices without dropping (3) USB ports have a wide range of applications, seem compatible with most storage devices (4) QoS is well rendered enough for VoIP and streaming movies (5) web interface has a nice GUI, simple to navigate and set up ... CONS: (1) doesnt use dual band technology even though the chipset supports it (2) original firmware is buggy, needs an update right away
