Fast. Great Range. Excellent Router.
This replaced a D-Link DIR-655. It was easy to set up and replicate the different settings I had for WiFi security and port-forwarding to my home server. On the 2.4 GHz band we're getting stronger connections and better overall range. We have just a coupl

Simple set-up, fast wi-FI, good coverage
Bought this based on many favorable reviews. Current 7 year old router had poor coverage, and slow wi-FI speeds, even when in the same room. Installation was simple and straightforward. Have no use for many of the advanced features, but wi-FI connection s

Way to go, Asus
Strengths: Stability and reliability, 5GHz performance, range, fantastic WAN/LAN routing performance, changeable dual band antennas, modified firmware (Merlin) available, 3G/4G USB dongle support
Weakness: Price, no 802.11ac mini-pcie adapters available yet
This replaced my DD-WRT -equipped Linksys WRT600N v1.1 router recently and I couldn't be happier. 2.4GHz performance is decent, not much improvement over the Linksys, but the improvement in range and speed in the whole house was a pleasant surprise. At 5GHz transfer speeds are top notch with 802.11n.Router section is one of the fastest I've seen, this side of enterprise routers and...

This replaced my DD-WRT -equipped Linksys WRT600N v1.1 router recently and I couldn't be happier. 2.4GHz performance is decent, not much improvement over the Linksys, but the improvement in range and speed in the whole house was a pleasant surprise. At 5GHz transfer speeds are top notch with 802.11n.Router section is one of the fastest I've seen, this side of enterprise routers and non-blocking routing switches. It can easily handle my 350/20Mbit cable modem, speedtest.net shows a solid 280-300Mbit performance while some other routers I've tried have limited it to 100-130Mbit/s. This was Linksys' achilles heel, which was barely capable of 90-100Mbit/s with the same cable modem.Firmware is completely stable, which is probably the most important thing in any router. It won't give you headaches. I flashed mine with modified 'Merlin' firmware, which added a few nice features. DD-WRT would be ideal but that'll probably take a while. The only real drawback I can think of is the lack of 802.11ac adapters for notebooks. I don't want an USB adapter and it'll be at least a month or two before the first two/three stream AC adapters will be available. If it's fast now, I can't wait to see what happens with a full-blown AC connection.Highly recommended. This is probably the best wireless router I've come across in years.
