Wireless doesn't work with Mac 7.5
1 Star Review   By HPdontWork4Mac on HP - Apr 4, 2013

Stop advertising this product as compatible with Mac. The HP LaserJet P1102w wireless function simply is not compatible with Mac OS X 7.5. Don’t bother. Buy something else. I’ve tried every possible fix I could find on HP forums and elsewhere, then returned the printer and tried it all over again on a new one. It doesn’t work. Don’t buy this printer for wireless use with a Mac.

Worth the price
5 Star Review   By happycamper2013 on HP - Mar 24, 2013

Shipping, packaging , on time and and well protected ... the printer works great the price was very reasonable and the print quality is superb! The only real frustrating thing was the protector strips that are used to guard the toner cartridge, and other sensitive surface to surface points ... they need to be marked/Labeled remove before use! The user manual is just about useless !

Not wireless with Mac OS 10.8.2
3 Star Review   By mikepv on HP - Mar 20, 2013

The printer does not work wirelessly with Mac OS 10.8.2. The website info seems to be mis-leading on this issue. Customer service has no clue as to when or IF they will create the software to make this happen. Works fine with USB...just not what I was hoping for.

Does NOT work with Apple OS X 10.8.2
1 Star Review   By Raggedyann on HP - Mar 16, 2013

I bought this printer last year 2012 and it works OK with my daughter's 5 year old Toshiba laptop. It does Not however work with any of my Apple Macbook Pro laptops. I have it connected with a USB since it would not work wirelessly but it says printer off line and will not print. I downloaded the latest software via the HP website. I recently upgraded my Apple software but it did not work with OS X 10.6.2 either. Once my daughter's computer dies I will not be able to use this printer as I am not replacing her computer.

Excellent printer
5 Star Review   By GirlX on HP - Mar 4, 2013

I have been through at least 3 inkjet printers. I am tired of wasting money on ink, only to have it dry up before I used it all. I decided to go with this printer, since I work at home and also need it to print personal things. My work PC runs on Windows 7. My home PC runs on Windows 8. Both of them were installed without issue, running the wireless printing, within 10 minutes from start to finish. Also, it is very lightweight and small in size. I plugged in the USB, then went to "my devices and printers" saw the printer was there. Right clicked, selected the option to install the software and it did the rest. It stated when the unplug the USB, then the wireless was set up with no extra steps required. It printed a test page, which came out perfect and VERY FAST!! It didn't work right away on Windows 8, but it only took one extra step. After it stated to unplug the USB, the test page didn't come out, but it appeared to be communicating (lights were flashing). I plugged the USB back in, the device manager popped up automatically and started to install the drivers. From there, the test page printed. One and done. Best experience ever! I'm so excited and happy to have a wireless LaserJet printer. Great value for the price.

Excellent value
4 Star Review   By MrSME on HP - Feb 7, 2013

After 19 years, I had to replace my LaserJet 5P. It still worked flawlessly but a new toner cartridge was almost as expensive as this new printer. After connecting the P1102w to my iMac via a usb cable, I was amazed at how fast it was. The print quality is excellent and the software driver duplex printing feature works great. I would have given a five star rating if the instructions to connect the WiFi function was explained better. Once WiFi was enabled, I was able to print to the P1102w from my iPad anywhere in the house.

easy to install even for a grandma!
5 Star Review   By dallasalley on HP - Feb 3, 2013

I am a 62 yr old grandma & I left the printer in the box for a while as I am not computer savy. When I finally decided to give it a go, I slipped the disc in to install it & it gave easy directions with pictures. It is now up & running & prints beautifully. It is very reasonably priced & very lightweight compared to my old printer in case I need to move it. Very pleased!!!

Great printer at a great price!
5 Star Review   By johnny10 on HP - Jan 28, 2013

The LJ Pro 1102w is a good replacement for the 1000 that I had previously. It is quick to first page and fast all around. I bought it for two reasons - I was upgrading to Win8 and I wanted a wireless capability for my wife to use with her IPAD and IPHONE via AirPrint. It accommodated both easily. The only feature that I really wanted that it did not have was automatic 2sided printing, however the manual 2sided process provided in the software is easy to use probably just as effective. The Smart Install was easy as was the network linkup. I would recommend it for home and home office use for moderate loads. A great buy with the discounted price and free shipping from the HP Home and Home Office Store.

great printer
5 Star Review   By akitamixtoo on HP - Jan 26, 2013

if you print text most of the time, this is your printer! I like the hp inkjets (have the 6500 and another) but find myself just needing text documents at home. this is perfect. got it working wirelessly with both Windows 7 and New hp envy windows 8 touchsmart. nice small size, just right! I have modest printing needs, so hoping the included cartridge lasts a long time. won"t dry up like inkjet either. I would recommend and glad I have it.

LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer
4 Star Review   By FRBJR on HP - Jan 26, 2013

Product is very good. Prints quickly. Although it has a higher rating, I still prefer the print quality of my HP Laser Jet 4L, which this replaced. It was an absolute chore to get the WIFI compatible with a MAC. The HP Manual was of zero help. If you're a PC user, perhaps it's different, but there were NO instructions to get the wireless set-up if you use a MAC.

Excellent Printer for SOHO
5 Star Review   By Matt37 on HP - Jan 25, 2013

Great Small Office - Home Office, as I have owned this for the past 18 months. I don't print a lot, but when I do, the print jobs are excellent. I have printed from my Windows XP Desktop, as well as from my iPad. Since I don't print a lot, I really like its eco-friendly auto-off feature. After a few minutes (and this can be customized) it shuts down, with no lights, but when you print something, it only takes a few seconds to wake up again and start. IPad compatibility is excellent, though I have not tried other parts of the HP ePrint suite. I like the online portal available to customize the printer, much like configuring a router. It is very handy, and let me customize some elements (quicker shut off) that i did not know I could change. Finally, I had some initial install issues after purchase, but HP support was able to help, it came down to upgrading the firmware properly. As long as you only want a simple laser printer that plays nicely with your IPhone/IPad as well as your main computer, this is a great buy. Thanks HP. I have since bought one for my mother in law and sister in law, that's how impressed I am.

Sweet printer
5 Star Review   By PAB1 on HP - Jan 15, 2013

I really like this printer. It is a nice compact size. Looks good on my desk. I was not able to get it on my network thru my MAC (don't have a CD drive, so I couldn't use the CD). I added it to my network with my Windows PC, smooth installation. Then I was able to add it to my Mac from the network. Prints really fast, clean print. I have only had it a few days, so I don't know how long the ink cartridge will last. I am very pleased with it & would recommend to anyone looking for a black print compact laser jet printer.

It looks great on my desk
4 Star Review   By Raine on HP - Jan 14, 2013

I'm happy with my new printer because it is a lot smaller than my previous printer. It only takes up a small space on my desk. I also love how easy it is to print from all my devices wirelessly. The only thing is that when I try to print from Pages on my Mac Book Pro, I am having trouble with the printer not printing to different size paper or even envelopes. The printer will not properly print the text in the formatted place. Maybe a future software update will fix that issue.

Hate this printer.
1 Star Review   By QuiltyGirl on HP - Jan 2, 2013

No matter what I try, no matter what I do I cannot get an ugly gray background to stop printing on all documents. There is so much gray on envelopes you can see the outline of the flaps and folds on the front of the envelope. My pure white letterhead looks like dirty laundry when it goes through this printer. I have followed every troubleshooting idea on the web and in the manual and nothing works. I would love to throw this printer in the trash but I work for a small non-profit and we can't afford to. So all of our printing is going out looking terrible.

A real money saver.
5 Star Review   By JackBlackSmith on HP - Jan 1, 2013

I've had one of these long enough to have just started using my 3rd cartridge. Much cheaper on ink than any ink jet I've ever had. With WiFi and print sharing I can print from any PC I add to my inhouse network. Highly recommended. If this printer ever wears out, I hope HP is still making them. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Nice replacement
4 Star Review   By shadowfixer on HP - Dec 29, 2012

I got this as a replacement for a similar model that did not have wireless connection and double sided printing. The wireless set up was a little strange on a mac , otherwise every thing was straight forward. It took several tries to connect wirelessly but once it connected everything was fine. It comes out of the sleep mode quickly, faster than I thought it would. I wish the paper bin was just a little wider as I had to slightly buckle a 1/2 sheet envelope to print an address. Once it got past the paper tray everything was just fine.

Okay for its class--shop brands
3 Star Review   By eleone on HP - Dec 15, 2012

Not really ready for Windows 8--HP even recommended using Microsoft built in driver instead of the HP. But basic functions work and I've had three of these--two broke within one year--one because foreign matter got into machine and cracked a roller. the other was a case of the grinding noise for no apparent reason syndrome. I've had a couple that have workhorse for about two years so far. Shame they didn't put a wired-network connection on the machine. print cartridges last far shorter than other brands with comparably-featured machines but you expect that from HP. So, definitely shop around for prices on this and other brands with similarly featured machines.

This printer was easy to set up (I used a cable connection to the PC) and it prints good quality b&w relatively fast. We've only had the printer for a week, so ask me again in a year. I hope it is as much of a workhorse as our previous Laser Jet 2100 which never gave us a day of trouble in many years of use.

Close...but too complicated, yet too simplistic???
3 Star Review   By Hawkfan on HP - Oct 31, 2012

I have what I would call an above average understanding of technology. But after an hour trying to get the printer's wireless connection to work, I had to call in my friend who owns a tech company to get it working. The printer has limited setting controls on the machine itself. The printer was a BEAR to setup on my new laptop running Windows 7 Pro. It does work great with my iPad and son's iTouch, with one exception. It keeps going into power save mode and I have to go turn on the printer each time I want to print and we have the printer tucked away in another room. I thought I adjusted the printer's settings via the PC but I will have to spent another 30-60 min to figure it out; not very intuitive at all.

Great connectivity (except USB connection setup)

Great initial performance (first month). Inconvenient having to carry and connect to every computer to install drivers (Wireless) . That is the reason for wireless connectivity.

USB will not work with Mountain Lion
1 Star Review   By RBruceP on HP - Oct 3, 2012

Really liked this printer until i switched from a pc to a MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. The software has not been updated to print via the USB port. Since I can't use a wireless connection the printer is pretty much useless. Since this printer is prominently advertised by HP you would think they would provide an updated driver that would allow printing via USB on this popular printer.

Poor setup instructions
4 Star Review   By Lymane on HP - Sep 27, 2012

The setup instructions were no whereaS CLEAR as with previous printers. If this were my first printer, I would have had to call in for help. The lack of a printed msnual is a minus. It is hard to find an item in the on-line manual. How about a search window?

Very good product
5 Star Review   By paulwisc on HP - Sep 16, 2012

The printer is great in all features except one - it will not print C6 envelopes (6 3/4 size). If one uses these small envelopes to pay bills, an address label will have to be used. If this one feature would be corrected, the printer would be classed as fantastic.

Good printer for the price
5 Star Review   By Izhar on HP - Sep 7, 2012

Pros: The printer is inexpensive and easy to set-up. I bought this printer in order to be able to print from my iPad using Apple's AirPrint. Once I connected this printer to my wireless router the printing from the iPad was straightforward. Cons: No display, but the printer is inexpensive and once you set-up the wireless feature, you don't really need the display. Printing usage and configuration pages are done from a PC using the supplied software. Other Comments: No page jams so far. I can't say how long the toner cartridges last because I only use this printer occasionally for printing from the iPad, so the cartridges last a long time for me.

Nice but not without issues
4 Star Review   By Umhello on HP - Aug 27, 2012

It is a nice printer and my first "home use" laser jet. It is of course slower than my HP laserjet sitting on my desk at work but that is to be expected from something that costs 1/4 the price. Everything works fine except for one nagging issue that has turned out to be a real pain and I haven't been able to solve. It absolutely refuses to connect via wifi to my Apple airport extreme base station. I set it up via the USB connection from my iMac, then tried my macbook, then even with a new windows machine my kids use running windows 7. I've tried everything I can find on the Internet as well. It just won't do it. I finally switched my computers over to the slower 802.11g connection on my U-verse wireless router and it connected first time. I can't find any information in the manual or on HP's website about whether or not is is supposed to work with my router or not, if it won't connect to a "G" connection, etc. So for now until I figure out what the deal is, I am stuck with a slow internet connection if I want to print anything. I also bought a brand new Officejet 6600 from the HP website and connected it a couple days prior to the laserjet. It connected to my airport extreme flawlessly. I really have no idea what the heck is going on with this thing.

EXCELLENT!
5 Star Review   By Charissa57 on HP - Aug 13, 2012

This product was everything the HP rep explained. If you are looking to print just in black and white and a large quantity, this is the product for you! I am so happy with this product. I couldn't believe my job was printed out within seconds. At first I thought it was a jam and then when I looked at the last page it was all printed out. I am extremely thrilled with all of HP's products. I have bought two computers, two printers, scanner, paper. I love HP products! Double thumbs up to HP!

Great Printer
5 Star Review   By WebMan on HP - Aug 8, 2012

Easy to setup. Works great. This is a great printer for daughter for college. It prints fast, is more economical than her InkJet printer. I would say that 95% of her printing will be black and white - not color needed. This prints fast, the toner does not run like the InkJet.

This product seldom works
1 Star Review   By Carolyn36 on HP - Jul 17, 2012

I have now had this printer a few months. An identical one had been sent back when it functioned poorly during the first week. This is the replacement. It more often than not will not print. When it does, we will have wasted a great deal of time in getting it to work. This is a professional office so time is valuable. It is hard to believe this is one of your best sellers. I have been using HP printers for 25 years and was always a big fan. This one however is a very great disappointment.

The HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer works great. Using it with my computer hard-wired and a 2nd computer printing wirelessly from another room, both operating on Windows 7. I especially like the feature of the printer turning itself on only when needed and powering down between uses. It's faster than my old HP-1000 with equal quality

Good Printer for the price
4 Star Review   By teejay2012 on HP - Jun 8, 2012

I choose the printer for the price and features. I wanted a printer to connect to my wireless home network. The install instructions for the were somewhat lacking. The default automatic install failed because my network is secured with a password. The message returned did not report his fact - it ony returned a general intallation failed message. I went into the manual install and was prompted for a network password which then attached the printer to the network, Either I missed a message rgarding a password or I believe the procedures shoul be improved to include a warning about secured networks, Other wise the printer works well as I expected.

I like the product when it works
4 Star Review   By Pinecone24 on HP - Jun 2, 2012

I had to replace another P1102 because the switch failed (in the off position) and presumably cannot be repaired. When the old one worked, it was a fine product. The replacement one works fine, now after having to pay over $100 to replace the other. I did not rate above because the old one eventually turned out to be 1-star, but the new one can be 5-star if it keeps working. (I am a home user with a volunteer job with our church--accounting and paying the bills.)

This printer has been great so far.
5 Star Review   By roglou on HP - May 29, 2012

We got this printer about 12 days ago and it has been great so far. Given some of the reviews I read, I was a little concerned about the difficulty setting it up for wireless. I started out with the USB connection, updated the software and firmware and then did not have any problems setting up the wireless connection. We can now print from our laptop and our iphones. We switched from an old laserjet printer and have been impressed with the speed and print quality of this printer. To avoid disappointment, read the product description so you do not expect features this product does not have. It is great at what is supposed to do.

Hard Worker

Now, I just got this printer, so only time will tell how well it will hold up, but so far it is GREAT and it feels quite sturdy. Set-up was a breeze, it prints fast, and the print quality is top notch. I've had several HP printers and have had few issues. I'm expecting the same from this printer.

Fast and clear, but...
3 Star Review   By BJTD on HP - May 23, 2012

I like the speed of printing and the wireless features of this machine; but for the price, it should be able to handle two-sided printing in a more automatic fashion. It does have a nice footprint and the set up was easy; but it needs a consistently strong wireless signal to perform well -- has a tendency to start and reload the entire job if there is any signal interference and paper gets wasted.

HP delivers
5 Star Review   By GermanKahuna on HP - Apr 27, 2012

I knew there was a reason why HP has been my printer manufacturer of choice for almost 20 years. I bought the LaserJet Pro P1102w for occasional home office use not expecting much in terms of gadgetery due to its small price, but what can I say: the P1102w is nothing but LARGE when it comes to innovative features for a small price. All of a sudden I noticed a new menu item on my iPhone. HEY, THIS OTHERWISE IN TERMS OF EXTERNAL ACCESSABILITY DELIBERATELY CRIPPLED APPLE TELEPHONE THING CAN PRINT! And I didn't have to do anything! My iPhone and the P1102w found each other automagically. That rocks. And so does the readily available support of Google Print. That means I can also use my HTC Flyer Tablet to print all things Android. Needless to say that it also talks Bonjour and every Mac in our house finds the printer immediately and is ready to print from it in less than a minute. Speed of availability and printing quality are more than sufficient for home and small office use IMHO. 6/5 stars from me. Would buy again anytime and can recommend the same to anyone. The P1102w will not disappoint you. Guaranteed.

fast, 2-sided manual printing, small footprint
5 Star Review   By hastiin on HP - Apr 26, 2012

Very impressed! I do training presentations at remote locations, where I provide handouts to each participant, but I never know how many handouts I will need. Because I do not want to waste/store leftovers nor be short of handouts, I need to be able to print on the fly at the meeting. This printer is fast and the manual 2-sided printing is as simple as lifting the first sides from the output tray and dropping them back into the input tray. I am able to print additional handouts while giving my training without too much thought and no errors. In addition, being small and lightweight makes transporting this printer by car easy. Th HP LaserJet P1102w fits my needs exactly!

Perfect....Works Just As Advertised
5 Star Review   By jimh009 on HP - Apr 16, 2012

After my old wireless HP print server died (the wireless print server allowed me to print wirelessly from my older, non-wireless HP 1018 laser printer), I discovered life reached new depths of despair without wireless printing. And since more and more things I do are on my new Apple iPad, I also needed a printer that allows for printing via Airprint. So I bought this printer when it was on sale in early April. I couldn't be happier. Installation went off superbly. The last time I installed HP driver software for my old HP 1018 (years ago), I managed to only get it working after encountering a few blue screens of death. Not today. Indeed, I didn't even have to use the included CD - I just plugged the printer into my laptop (which was already connected to the Internet), and everything went off without a hitch. Installation takes surprisingly long due to the need to download the driver (140MB), but other than that - installation was surprisingly easy. If you aren't connected to the Internet, you're stuck using the included CD I guess. If you plan to print from an iPad via Airprint, be sure to upgrade to the latest Firmware. Without the firmware updated, Airprint doesn't work. What was neat about upgrading to the latest drivers and firmware was that you don't even have to have your computer connected to the printer. Everything is done wirelessly - just download the file to your laptop, unzip, run the .exe file and you're done. Hard to argue with that. Also...kudos to HP for providing a short printer cable with the printer this time around. Using the included printer cable was much easier than digging through boxes in my garage for a printer cable that I long ago forgot about. I've only used this printer for one night, so...I have no idea how reliable/durable it is. However, one reason I chose another HP printer was because all past ones I've owned have been "bullet proof." The only times I've had a HP printer die is when I've accidentally killed them (hint...spilling soda inside a HP laser printer isn't a good idea. Nor is transporting the printer for 2000 miles in the back of a pickup truck with a full toner cartridge still inside it. Two painful life lessons learned). Now....if only HP can reduce the cost of their insanely expensive toner.

Great Buy for my Small WIreless Network
5 Star Review   By CavemanDan on HP - Apr 11, 2012

Super price for nice featured wireless laser printer. I have wireless network of 3 Windows 7 PC's and a couple other older printers, and was in need of an inexpensive fast wireless laser for reports, end of day point of sale use, and general printing in my golf course clubhouse. This printer has a nice small footprint. Installation on the network and all PC's was quick and easy. I was up and printing within an hour of opening the box. I'm still using a 16 year old Laser 6P hardwired to one of my PC's, and this P1102w is lightning fast in the wireless mode. Perfect addition to my network.

This printer is very simply, a delight !
5 Star Review   By Nirin on HP - Apr 3, 2012

At first I was a little disappointed that there was just a page of little pictures on obviously recycled paper. No detailed instructions. So.... I just followed along with the little pictures, plugged it in, clicked the icon on my computer screen and Voila ! Within about 5 minutes (start to finish) beautiful, perfectly printed pages, began coming off the Printer. Over 20 years I've set up quite a few; printers, scanners, computers, and other assorted devices. This was truly a game changer.... your engineers should be embraced ! Nice Work !

perfect for small office!
4 Star Review   By webmallwholesale on HP - Mar 31, 2012

this little and light printer is wonderful for my small home office, it fits nicely in a corner of my desk if it wasn't for the printer looking features on it, you'd probably never be able to tell it was in fact a printer sitting there. but bare in mind if you own a mac this little bugger is quite the task to get set up, after 3hrs of combing the internet for solutions and all of them failing, i decided to use my own solution, so i recommend if you have a mac like me, you will need a windows pc to get the set up process rolling because this printer just won't work for me with my latest mac versions and updates. once you set up the printer on a regular pc, you can unplug it and it keeps your IP address stored so when you turn it on you can finally go wireless. sad thing is i called hp.com and their technicians couldn't even help me get this printer connected!! HP I am very disappointed by your technical staff!! Very! If i wasn't technically savvy this printer would have been back in the box and ready to be returned. But don't get bent out of shape or frustrated if you run into the issue of it not working, as I said get a PC and do the initial set up then you can connect the printer to your mac and it will work!. GOOD LUCK!

Bit Disappointed
3 Star Review   By kvonl on HP - Mar 26, 2012

I was very optimistic about this printer, but it did not set up as effortlessly as expected (wirelessly), but it was just a few minutes more than I anticipated. Then it started printing. Nice output, with little time to awake from sleep, and quick as well. However, after a few days and maybe 20 pages of printing, it has started to have issues about sensing whether there is paper in the tray, so an intermediate screen comes up saying something to the effect "add paper or click on continue." Of course, there is paper in the tray, so I have to click on continue. Annoying, irritating. I am concerned that this may be a harbinger of future, more serious paper-handling issues. We'll see. In the meantime, I'm a bit disappointed.

Good printer, outdated CD
4 Star Review   By glessard on HP - Mar 25, 2012

I like the printer; for the price it is an excellent value. However, the CD included in the box contained a version of the driver that did not work correctly with Mac OS 10.7, even though that version was released 6 months prior to my purchase. Downloading the latest version from the website fixed the issue, but I did not expect software this far out of date to be delivered with a new printer.

This unit is a little work horse! Fast and efficient and trouble free. It is light and compact. Just perfect for home or small office. We would highly recomment this product to anyone in the market for a new printer.

Fast and Easy
5 Star Review   By guillenrocks on HP - Mar 16, 2012

Best laser printer I have owned. Set up was simple. Works with all my wi-fi devices, including Apple products through Air-Print. (although I did have to update firmware to get that to work) The printer is extremely quiet and works extremely fast. I would highly recommend.

Fantastic printer!!
5 Star Review   By dbarc on HP - Mar 15, 2012

Finally a printer that sets up exactly as expected. 5 minutes out of the box and it was printing wirelessly from a laptop. In 7 more minutes, including the time it took to download the firmware update, and it was printing from an iPhone. What more can I ask? Even though I'm an IT professional, this was the easy setup I've ever experienced. HP Rocks!!

Good Printer; Documentation Needs Work
4 Star Review   By swd01 on HP - Mar 6, 2012

This is a good printer and well worth the price. The setup/installation documentation, however, is not up to par. For someone who will be using the printer both connected via USB to a desktop and wirelessly to other devices, the setup/installation documentation is inadequate and confusing. Be advised that there are various YouTube videos (one of which is done by HP) which are more helpful than the documentation which accompanies the printer.

My pictures print up too dark
4 Star Review   By growinggrace on HP - Mar 5, 2012

I purchased this printer to print b/w pictures for a church directory. I don't know what I need to do to lighten the print. Other than that the printer does excellent. It prints fast on written material, and fast on photos just the darkness in the photo, I am not happy with. If anyone knows how to lighten the pictures please let me know. When you are making something for your church to give to other people you hope they can see the faces of the people in the pictures.

Fabulous Printer
5 Star Review   By thorlo on HP - Mar 5, 2012

This is a terrific printer. It is compact, speedy, and simple to use. It prints wirelessly from any computer on my network. It was easy to install and has worked great since I got it. HP printers are the best printers I have ever owned. If anyone needs a great printer to accommodate a home or small business network this is definitely the one to get. Purchasing on the HP website and shipping were a breeze.
