Netgear Push2TV HD (PTV2000)
2 Star Review  productwiki.com - May 5, 2011

The Netgear Push2TV HD (PTV2000) is a mid-cost TV adapter for Intel wireless displays, which allows you to stream media from your laptop to an external display. To use this adapter, your Intel wireless display laptop must have a first or second generation Intel Core processor (i3, i5 or i7), as well as Microsoft Windows 7. You also need to have an analog or HDTV with an available AV Composite or HDMI input. You can get media from your computer, home network, or online (which means that you can access TV shows and movies online, from various content sites). The setup from the Push2TV HD (PTV2000) to the laptop is wireless, so that you do not have to deal with many cables (just the one going from the adapter to the TV). This adapter differs from the closely related Push2TV (PTV1000) model in that it is equipped with integrated WiDi, and ... PROS: (1) Initial setup is very quick and simple -"plug and pla"-style connectivity (2) Significant reduction is signal latency as compared to the standard definition PTV1000 model (3) Great for communal content viewing - pictures and videos look fairly good at 1080p resolution setting ... CONS: (1) Drive installation can be difficult/tedious - involves four separate files that each require a separate restart (2) Considerable drop in quality/color preservation when switching to 720p - not recommended for video playback (still imagery only) (3) Some content types may encounter"stutterin" playback issues - likely connected to aspect ratio inconsistency (4) Computer source is disabled while streaming content - frustrating for those users wanting to multitask or cue additional material

Won't Work With Win 8
1 Star Review   By member dsb1967 - Mar 21, 2013

Strengths: Will Work with Previous Versions

Weakness: Won't Work with WIN 8

Buyer beware. You need the PTV-3000 to work with WIN8. And at that, WIN8 won't work with the latest firmware upgrade for it, 2.2.9! It will only work with 2.2.7 How's that for weird?

New HP Envy17 3D laptop was ordered with the Netgear Push2TV PTC2000HD. I followed Netgear directions step by step which includes updating Intel drivers. I connected the Netgear to our Mitsubishi HD 3D TV via the included HDMI cable; everything worked perfectly from the start. Could not have asked for a better performance. HD video along with full theatre surround. If you want to cut the cable, this is an excellent alternative.

Awesome Product

Works Great! Highly recommend 5 Star all the way, and I usually don't like NetGear products. This works great with a 2nd Gen i7 2.10Ghz w/ boost to 3.10Ghz like something of the future.

This netgear product can work with an HP dm4-1080us laptop like mine. And yes, the 1080us has a 2nd gen Intel I5 processor. But don't expect your Netgear device to connect to this laptop without inputing several minutes of your trouble shooting/updating time. Should your laptop ever connect to the netgear adapter, like mine eventually did, you'll be impressed with what it can do without wires.

Not worth it.

Easy to install and connect, but frequently loses connection. Updated firmware on the device and drivers on the computer but still drops connection. HDMI cable is cheaper and more reliable.
