Slim Design but Poor Quality for me!
2 Star Review   By member Loong97 - Oct 1, 2006

Strengths: Very slim design for space saving!

Weakness: Very Poor TV Quality for me!

Some people said they got a good TV quality, but I don't! I got very poor TV quality. I will stay away from this product. The S/N is printed on CD, meanwhile it is in your CD ROM drive. There is a hand writing S/N on the package, not too professional to me! Save your $ to get something better than this!

MSI VOX TV Tuner
4 Star Review   By member garrah - Apr 18, 2006

Strengths: Compact Size Low Price USB Powered Good TV Reception

Weakness: Weak Documentation

I am very satisfied with this product. Set-up was very easy using the supplied CD. The drivers on the website were the same as on the CD, so there was no need to download those. The TV reception using my cable connection was very good, with very little jitter. I have performed basic recording using the DVR, and it seems to also work well. I definitely recommend this product.

2 Star Review   By member bjwaldron - Nov 26, 2004

Strengths: external unit, relatively easy set up

Weakness: During setup, software requests serial number which is not the unit's S/N, but one(s) listed on cd-rom- a bit confusing. Bottom screen flickers.

What at first seems to be an attractive unit- external plu-n-play on a USB 2.0, is offset by some mild confusion in setting up software as well as flickering picture on bottom tird of the screen and audio being slightly out of sync.

3 Star Review   By member pelograbber - Aug 13, 2004

Strengths: Has different jacks like A/V, Svideo, RCA, and audio out. Came with a lot of software like PVR, and a windvd tv tuner software. It is light and compact. The bag came in handy!

Weakness: Powers itself from the USB port. The antenna-in jack is too small for a regular outside cable wire. Software did not come with serial numbers, I think you have to buy the software yourself.

I have used this tv tuner for almost 3 months. With a regula antenna, i get good tv quality. You might have problems trying to hook a video with RCA output to it. When trying to put an antenna wire, you might trouble with little space given between the antenna-in jack and the audio-out jack. This can be annoying.

3 Star Review   By member eagle05l - Jul 26, 2004

Strengths: compact, portable

Weakness: occasion drop frame, average audio

TV picture quality is reasonably well if the input signal is strong. Video Capture function is fine for an external unit. Picture quality is not as good as that of an internal card. The data transfer rate of USB2 may be the limiting factor. The included software has adequate functionality, though not very user friendly. The captured audio is only acceptable. Buttons in the remote control are "sticky".

1 Star Review   By member trimai - Jul 10, 2004

Strengths: nice and compact design

Weakness: is not working

After installed the driver and software, as soon as I turn the device on, it will hang my PC after 2 min. I tried everything, when to the website looking for tips and support. not much to get from there, and after 2 days of searching and installing, reinstalling, rebooting. I decide to look for another card. I had purchased and installed other TV card on other computers before, but nothing can be compare with this one. this is the worst product I ever had purchased from MSI. don't waist your time and money. look for another one.

4 Star Review   By member Kabir - Apr 15, 2004

Strengths: 1. Compact. (With a carrying case, it is pretty good for mobile users) 2. Clear picture. (Better than my 19-inch TV) 3. Cheap. (It is probably the cheapest TV tuner with USB 2.0 support)

Weakness: 1. No audio over USB. 2. Inconsistent performance on different laptops. 3. Remote control is hard to use.

It requires a line-in jack on your computer, which most laptops don't have. Try to make an L-pad yourself so you can use mic-in. Of course, you may not be able to record stereo sound in this way. On some laptop, both its own TV playing software MSIPVS (re-badged InterVideo WinDVR 2.0) and WinDVR 3.0 generate some flash occasionally. It can be quite annoying. The buttons on remote control are hard to press and once you press it, it may generate multiple reactions. For example, if you press "0", it may generate "00" or even "000". It may take some time to get used to it. Be aware that all those cheap USB TV tuners don't have hardware encoder. So, it will consume lots of CPU power. It doesn't stress Intel Centrino 1.6Ghz laptop, but can really bog down an Athlon XP 2500+ laptop. In summary, it is a capable product for TV watching if you have a capable computer.
