5 Star Review   By member chibo - Jun 9, 2003

Strengths: card reader, high quality photos, and lcd

Weakness: cost of ink could be cheaper

over all this is an awesome printer, no software problems, i havent had any paper jams, actually i really have no complaints about it. it doesnt print the fastest but the quality is worth the wait. as for others who do have problems as far as software goes, i know for a fact that it works well with windows 98, 2000, xp home and professional. as for windows me, you will have problems with most software you use or install. basically my advice to others is: do not trust any ratings from people who say that they are having problems with the software if they are using windows me for an os(unless that is your current os then i would recommend upgrading it). again, awesome printer and now you can get it for under 200 bucks brand new.

5 Star Review   By member consumer12345 - May 15, 2003

Strengths: Many features and options not found on other printers, very quiet printing, slow ink usage, separate 4x6 photo tray

Weakness: No 6 color ink system, no borderless printing

This printer is awesome! It is very quiet when priting except when loading. The ink consumption is very slow which is a great thing compared to my old Epson which drank ink quicker than water. Automatic paper type sensor adjusts print settings automatically. It looks like a laser beam shooting across the paper. LCD is bright and very helpful. Solid construction and quality. HP also has provided great customer service and support. You can't go wrong.

5 Star Review   By member BahamaMama - Mar 13, 2002

Strengths: Easy to use, don't have to go through the PC, able to print directly from memory stick.

Weakness: Although print time is slow, it is worth the wait.

I love not having to use my PC to print pictures (I now only use it as an archive). With the LCD and menu-driven features, this printer is so easy to use. The photo quality is fantastic. I usually print an index page, and then set up my entire print job (multiple photos, different # copies, different sizes) and leave it to do its thing. I recommend it for anyone who has a digital camera.

Strengths: Easy to set up, prints great text & photos. Now has a rebate available. Good value for your money.I've seen many printers at the same price which are NOT half as good.Offers many extras.

Weakness: Should include USB cable for the price

WOULD BUY AGAIN!!! GOOD VALUE W/ REBATE.WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY OVER THE 1215. Printer uses average ink and comes with good software programs. HP has really given the customer what they want. the proof of this is that many stores are currently out-of-stock on this item.

4 Star Review   By member jayellevee - Jan 24, 2002

Strengths: lcd screen...easy to use w/o pc...sepia, black & white, antique color features...good imaging software...good photo quality

Weakness: high price...hard to load paper...paper jams especially for the 4x6 paper tray...expensive ink cartidges...slow to print both color and text...does not automatically turn on when print job initiated

I was planning on buying either the HP1315 or the Canon S800. It was a very hard decision, as both printers had both good points (and bad). As I searched high and low for both printers (they were both out of stock), I ended up leaning toward the HP1315. An office supply store was nice enough to special order it for me. Overall, I was very impressed with the ease of use of the HP1315. I love the imaging software that came with the printer. I made an album page with an assortment of pictures from my digital camera. Everyone loved it! The only drawback was that the pictures printed almost to the edge of the 8 1/2 x 11 paper and it would not fit into a standard 8x10 picture frame. (Most places sell document size frames that do fit letter size paper). I made about twenty 4x6 and nine 8x10 pics and my ink is running dangerously low. The replacement cartridges were $50, but that was about the same price I was already paying for my old canon printer. Although the price of the printer was a little on the high side ($400!!!), it was well worth it.

Strengths: Great resolution, great options, easy to use, can read Sony Memory Sticks

Weakness: Corrupts Windows, bad drivers, supplies are expensive.

After reading the PC World's article on this printer and calling it a 'Best Buy', I went ahead and bought it. Here is where the problem lies. I have an HP Pavilion 7960, which is a P4 1.3GHz, running WinME with 128MB RAM. I installed the software for the printer. After doing so, I am unable to open 'display' on the control panel or right-click the desktop. When I do, I get an 'Abnormal Program Termination' error. After researching the web, I found out that the software is the cause. I uninstalled the software, and would you believe it, I was able to open 'display' on the control panel and right-click the desktop. Then, I proceeded to install the latest version of the driver available on HP's website. Again, same problems. I have read as many aritcles and posts as I can find. There are many people in this boat and HP seems to have no answer, other than to say it is a Microsoft problem. HP's customer support is very poor, as I realized when I had an out-of-the-box defect with the computer. I have no idea when and if HP will correct this problem, but I have no plans in the future to buy another HP product based on the past couple of situations I have had with them. It appears HP is recommending customers intall the HP970 drivers, which then does not allow the user to print in high detail or use the media readers. That is unacceptable. I only give this 1 star, but the preview shows five.

Strengths: Easy set-up, picture quality from digital camera is outstanding, speed is also very good. User friendly operation.

Weakness: No usb or parallel cable and ink cartridges that come with printer are only half filled?

This product is an excellent complement to a digital camera for beginning photo enthusists. The quick media component allows for 3 different types of digital camera storage media to be direclty input into the printer. The onboard LCD screen allows you to do some minor editing and sizing with out going through your pc. Overall I am very satisfied with the purchase
