Prints too dark
3 Star Review   By member nolantaylor - Jan 21, 2010

Strengths: good non-photo printing.

Weakness: Always prints the photos too dark. HP has been of little help in resolving this issue. This happens whether I am printing from my computer or from the printers screen.

Paper won't load, prints dark pictures
1 Star Review   By member Robincprince - Feb 23, 2008

Weakness: Paper is difficult to load

I've had this printer for about 6 months and it keeps giving me an out of paper message even after I load and reload the paper 20 times. It still doesn't recognize that that it has paper in the main tray. HP support couldn't solve my problem and insists that I didn't register it when I know I did. CHEAP PRINTER!!! Lack of support from HP.

In my opinion, hp manufactures the best photo printers. This is one of them. It works very fast and reliably. I don't even once encounter jamming situation. Compared to other named brand printers, its prints are super. I can't tell the difference between its prints and photos from film.

3 Star Review   By evkn on HP - Dec 26, 2007

I have had this printer for approx 1 year and I am not too thrilled with it when printing envelopes. Also it does not print landscape mode 2 pages on one page all the time. I can't figure it out! My last photosmart printer was excellent and I used it until it died. I do alot of printing. I would recommend HP products but this one I think is a loser!

Very picky Photographer....
5 Star Review   By ThePickyPhotographer on HP - Aug 1, 2007

First off, I have to tell you that I am a Photographer and always print my own pictures. I've tried a few other brands, but HP tops them all and I personally prefer the Photosmart printers. I have to agree with the other reviews......replacing an 02 cartridge when low is much more cost effective than replacing a tri-color cartridge. That's the main reason I purchased this Photosmart model. I was replacing an older model (yes, it wore out...but I print hundreds of photos daily and eventually, a printer must give out.) Fortunately, HP is excellent when it comes to warranty returns. If the model is not available......you will still get reimbursed. This replaced my Photosmart 8200 series, which was not as fast, but I was still attached to that model. I did an immediate comparison with the 2 printers. When set on the highest resolution (4800x1200 dpi,) on HP Premium Plus paper, they matched. However, when printing 4x6 prints, I found that the older series printed much smoother and even though this model printed in seconds, there were noticeable lines across the entire picture. From a distance, the clarity was so beautiful, but up close, I was a little disappointed. On the positive, the D7160 model does seem sturdier and so far, no problems with paper jamming, etc.........which can sometimes cause problems, especially when you switch from canvas to photo paper, to iron-transfers, etc... I would trust this model, recommend it highly, as well as HP and Vivera inks.

Great Printer For Photo Enthusiasts
5 Star Review   By member athiaga99 - Jun 14, 2007

Strengths: Easy to use, Fast, Has an adjustable 3.4-inch Touchscreen LCD.

Weakness: Slow when we use NON-HP Advanced Photo Paper.

Got this printer for around $60 after rebates and Coupons. I find the quality to be awesome. The TOUCHSCREEN LCD is an awesome feature. The setup is a piece of cake. The only problem with this printer is that it is slow when we use NON-HP photo paper. I used Staples brand photo paper which i got on clearance and realized the printing was rather slow. So i have switched to the HP ones even though they are a bit pricey. But for photo enthusiasts like me, this is the best bet for the price.

Great cool printer
4 Star Review   By member maxyuan - Jun 14, 2007

Strengths: large touch screen speed (fastest printer in the world)

Weakness: ink too expensive

Flip open the top LCD, it is touch-screen (great cool addition to a printer that would otherwise be normal). Known currently as the fastest printer in the world, its speed is definitely incredible with both 8x11 and 4X6s. The printer is absolutely amazing besides the cost to do a complete ink replacement. HP need to revolutionize its ink system.

HP D7360 Testing
3 Star Review   By member kubkar - May 20, 2007

Strengths: Large touch-screen LCD, Dedicated 4x6 photo tray, Built-in memory card slots and PictBridge port, Ability to print stills from digital videos, and from an iPod.

Weakness: A Little bit slow at 4x6 printing.

Compare to my Epson R220, this unit was slower in printing of 4x6. And price of the unit is more expensive than others. If I had to pay a full price of $200 for this unit, I would go for another brand for the same quality.

HP Photosmart D7160
5 Star Review   By Joan2 on HP - May 8, 2007

As a photo printer, the quality and ease of use would be hard to equal for the price. Quite user friendly, photos come out clear and bright, edge to edge every time. I love being able to insert my camera chip, and being able to edit picture immediately. This printer can be used for document printing as well. Here also, the quality is excellent and the speed of print phenomenal in a machine in this price range. The only drawback that I see is, that with 6 ink cartridges the carriage is always adjusting, cleaning or aligning itself. If you just want a copy in a hurry, you won't get it until the machine is through with its abolutions. Thank goodness I kept my old reliable, no nonsense Deskjet 952!

Hp 7160 Photosmart Printer
5 Star Review   By msodos on HP - Apr 1, 2007

This is the 5th or 6th printer I've owned and is the best of the lot. It will print immediately, even after sitting for an extended period.Colors are always spot on. Ink use is as low as I've ever seen. Resolution and color accuracy are also as good as I've seen, even on much more expensive models. It also has a number of features I very much appreciate such as a paper tray that pulls out to make insertion much easier. I also like having one ink cartridge per color so I only need to replace the color I'm out of. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased.

Great Photos and B&W text
4 Star Review   By Garry on HP - Mar 7, 2007

What the others have said, easy to set up, use and great photo printing. But, my new computer came with Windows Vista. I was ready to plug-and-play – not. I was directed to the download center for my choice of the full 181Meg or basic 38Meg driver and software package. I got the small package. That is OK. Vista photo support is VERY GOOD.

Wow..
5 Star Review   By Breeze on HP - Mar 1, 2007

Wow..Who said you get what you pay for!! Not with the Photosmart D7160. Inexpensive photo printer for an impressive photo quality and features. This printer has 6 different colored inks that help the quality of photos. Built solid not lightweight. Little large but an eyecatcher. Easy to install hardware and software. I also bought the HP value pack with all 6-ink cartridges and 150 4x6 glossy photo paper. The package says enough supplies for printing 150 4x6 prints…I have printed 125 photos with the ink already in printer with 70% ink left. I am seeing that I will get more photos out of the ink than they are saying. I tried some off brand glossy paper and found it takes longer for the ink to dry so I recommend staying with HP paper. All the software is easy to figure out and works well except the HP Essential freezes up when ever I try to use it. That doesn’t matter to me, I use other photo software for my older photos. I bought a new camera a few months back and needed something to print out my photos without costing me allot of time and money. I went to the store to buy another photo printer that had great reviews online. Put it in my cart. After seeing the HP on an end cap I checked it out and loved all of the features with the sales person helping me I brought the HP home and love it. I am very happy with my choice and I see myself sticking with HP for more products.

D7160 so easy even a Caveman can use it
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Jan 29, 2007

This is my first photo printer, it was so easy to install, setup, and print that I thought I must be doing something wrong. I purchased this on the recommendation of the salesman, and because of the separate color cartridges. The ability to print from the camera, the memory card, or the pc is a great feature. The HP software is also easy to use, you can crop, remove red-eye, print in sephia, or black white all with the few mouse clicks. This is an outstanding printer for the price! The quality of the photos are unbelieveable. My wife was skeptic until I printed off the Christmas pictures and I took them with my new camera.

I am technology impaired...so when I got this printer for Christmas it sat in my office for 3 weeks before I decided to try to install it...with the phone next to me ready to call for support I started the process. It went fast and easy, I needed no help what-so-ever! Then it was time to print...I just knew that I had made a mistake in the setup and the picture would be terriable...but it was the best picture that I had printed at home. I love this printer!!! D7360 printer not so good
2 Star Review

Weakness: veay average print. long time to be ready to print

This printer has no more than average print quality. My computer has an error message on shut down that it is looking for the card reader. When the printer is removed from the system the problem goes away. HP has supposedly been working on this for about 6 weeks. I get no response from them unless I call, and then I hear they will get back to me. I have got no usable help. This is my last dollar spent on HP products

Great Machine
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Dec 4, 2006

This is my third H.P. Photosmart printer in three years. I did not buy this new printer because of problems with the old ones. They still have the print quality and performance as they did when they were brand new. Also you have to admit they are the best looking photo printers on the market. My main reason for purchasing this printer was the six individual ink cartridges and the printer design. This is the first Photosmart I've had with the six ink set-up. And after seeing the price (not to mention rebate ), I purchased it on the spot, even though my other Photosmarts are still doing a top-notch job. And I must say that this new Photosmart printer model (D7160) does surpass the other two photo printer in print quality and color saturation. Don't misunderstand, as particular as I am, I am very pleased with my previous printers and continue to use them with superb results. However I think the difference is in the new Vivera Inks. For those considering a photo printer with advance technology, ease of operation, and incredible picture quality, you owe it to your-self to check out this printer first.

Photosmart D7360 Photo Printer
4 Star Review   By member dennisnd62 - Oct 13, 2006

Strengths: Very easy to set up. Attractive looking and quite quiet when printing. Touch panel is excellent.

Weakness: Two way printing adapter is optional. Paper storage is relatively small.

I have had many HP printers and this is one of the best for text and photographs. I don't know how long the ink will last and how expensive it will be per print as of yet.
