Swindled!
1 Star Review   By anonymous - Jan 12, 2015

In order to print in black and white, you have to replace all emptycolour cartridges. My black cartridge is almost full, but the 'magenta' colour has been depleted (I don't know why, I rarely do any colour printing) so it won't let me print at all. Of course I tried to reference fix-it websites but it seems that is simply the way it is with this printer. This printer is the biggest swindle I've ever experienced. HP should be ashamed of themselves. The best I can do is say "NEVER EVER BUY AN HP PRINTER!!!!" Because I sure won't.

Good double-sided printer.
5 Star Review   By rfmiles on HP - Apr 21, 2013

I've already saved a few hundred sheets of paper by using a feature of this printer to print on both sides of each sheet. The documentation could be better at explaining which button on the screen is the numeric shift key when entering a wireless router password, though.

Almost a five star
4 Star Review   By wjklein on HP - Apr 9, 2013

The only thing keeping this from a five star rating is the absence of any simple way to load and feed an envelope short of emptying the entire paper tray. An envelope feed slot similar to the wonderful old Desk Jet would have been a very welcome touch. Othere than that, speed, features and print quality are all top notch.

Disappointing
2 Star Review   By Dataczar on HP - Apr 1, 2013

I replaced our workhorse HP 1200 because it wasn't fully Windows 7 compatible. Big mistake. This printer is used solely for home and leisure use and no matter how thrifty I am to conserve, it's an ink hog. It also needs to be reset every week or so due to the Scanner Failure message, and I'm not satisfied with the "solution" provided on the HP support site. I've used a lot of HP printers in the workplace and had high expectatons. However, this is by far the most disappointing model. Next time, I'll consider other brand options.

This printer has very poor ink cartridge yield.
1 Star Review   By JPaul on HP - Mar 31, 2013

While the printer works good when working, the printer will not print, even in black when one of the 3 color ink cartridges need to be replaced. Further, although I have purchased 8 other HP multi function printers, I have never owned a printer like this one which requires that all 3 color cartridges need to be replaced at the same time. I have printed less than 1000 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 paper, most being black and white word documents, but have had to replace the 3 color cartridges, 2 times ( the original "Setup" cartridges have only enough toner to setup the machine and print a few pages) and the last set is now empty and I can't even print in black and white either.

Almost a home run
4 Star Review   By Valueshopper101 on HP - Mar 22, 2013

Delivery was ahead of schedule. The on-device set up instructions with animations were easy to follow and resulted in a successful installation the first time. I was up and printing from multiple PCs in short order. Double-sided printing works well, and the ePrint feature is cool to share with family. Another big selling point for me was the scheduled off/on feature for power savings overnight. Only one problem: Why does ePrint have to be disabled to enable scheduled power off? When it powers off, of course ePrint will be disabled, but ePrint should be automatically re-enabled with scheduled power on. To get my 5 star rating, have HP Web Services queue up ePrint jobs until my printer is powered on again.

Officejet 6700 Premium has performed well
4 Star Review   By Golfer70 on HP - Mar 13, 2013

We replaced our Officejet J4680 printer with the Officejet 6700 Premium printer about 2 weeks ago and to this point, it has performed well. The set up was fairly straight forward. This printer is faster than our old printer. The copies are of good quality. It is not quiet, but our old printer was a little more noisy than this one. The only problem that we have had so far was setting the default for black or color prints. The old printer set up was simply checked "Color" or "Grayscale". This set up does not list a selection for color under "Preferences". It has "Print in grayscale: Black Ink only" for no color. To print in color, the setting is changed to "Off". Also, the preference for "Black Ink Only" is "Enabled" for no color and "Disabled" for color. We had been accustomed to selecting either color on or off, which I believe would have been simpler. The cost of the 6700 Premium was very competitive. The free shipping required 3 days. We have purchased several products from HP and to this point have been well satisfied with the quality of the products and the support .

Not worth it at all!
1 Star Review   By WasteOfMoney on HP - Mar 10, 2013

Ok, first off, after perusing along these reviews I know this review page MUST be filtered and edited by HP. The HP 6700 printer is grossly inferior, and I'll tell you why - Your forced to replaced the color cartridges, even though you only print in black and white. The color cartridges will dry out even though you dont use them just from the printers internal maintenance. When that happens, the driver will not allow any print at all (even if you just have black or grayscale selected as default). The driver will not allow ANY black ink printing if a COLOR cartridge is empty?!?!. I called HP tech support (who was very polite and knowledgeable) and they confirmed that is the way the 6700 operates. So even if you never use color, your forced to replace those cartridges or the printer will basically lock you out from any printing at all. This is a waste of money, and I demand a refund for this machine.

5 Star Review   By Mike59 on HP - Mar 8, 2013

My printer was delivered fast and set up was very easy. Not only does it look great in my office but it performs as expected. I especially love the wireless and e-print capabilties. Now everyone in the household can print wirelessly from their laptops and smart phones. I never had those capabliites with previous printers. I highly recommend this printer. It's awesome!

A good replacement for HP 6210 all-in-one
5 Star Review   By JKFL on HP - Feb 26, 2013

My workhorse HP all in one died when the top actually broke off its hinges. Since I need fax/scan/copy/print capabilities, I looked to find a reasonably priced replacement. So far, I've been quite pleased with this 6700. Set-up was easy with reasonably good instructions. The packaging was designed to make getting it out of the box much easier than in the past. I've used all the capabilities of the printer already and have no problems. Two thing to note are: the paper tray is pretty hard to open as designed and when the machine is starting to print, it makes a loud bang as if something is bound up and breaking loose. It prints just fine, so I'm assuming that is just part of the normal operation.

This is a terrific printer for anyone.
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Feb 25, 2013

Perfect printer for any job you have for it. Pictures come out excellent as well as artwork I got off the internet for it. The best thing I like about it is it's ease of setting up and being able to use it from anywhere. And I do mean anywhere. It tied in with my wireless router so I can effectively print from anywhere in the world as long as I have some sort of communications device. Like a cell phone or a computer on a hotspot. All you have to do to do it wirelessly is send something to the printer's email address and it will get printed if your printer is plugged in and on. Even in it's "sleep" mode that it reverts to after a user specified time or factory default time it still wakes it's self up to print anything that comes in over the router. I don't have a land line so I don't know how the fax feature would work, which is the only way to have fax capabilities.

very satisfied customer
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Feb 20, 2013

I have had this printer for about three weeks and am very glad to have bought it. I replaced a 6 year old 5610 and was able to get it to print from all my computers. I was unable to do that with the old one. It also prints much faster than the 5610. As for the ink cartridges, there are three for color and one for black, I reserve judgment on how efficient that will work out to be. But for now, I am a happy camper.

Slightly Disappointed
4 Star Review   By Carrie027 on HP - Feb 19, 2013

As Program Coordinator for a Developmental Day Treatment Center I do a lot of printing. Plans of Care, Calendars, Many, many forms, etc. My previous printer was an HP 6500A Plus, which lasted me several years. When it finally bit the dust I replaced it with an HP 6700 Premium. I love the features and am finding out that I like the eprint feature also! It prints fast and is quiet. The only thing I am disappointed with the new design for loading envelopes. The 6500 loaded envelopes in the right side of the paper tray. With the 6700 I have to take the paper out, place the envelopes in the center of the tray and adjust the side arms to align the envelope. This might just be a preference of mine but I find loading the envelopes in the 6700 is a bit troublesome. Otherwise the printer is the quality I always expect from HP. and is why HP printers are the only printers I will buy for home, or work.

Pretty Good
3 Star Review   By CJ1985 on HP - Feb 13, 2013

overall I am happy with my purchase. The biggest downfall is that it seems like it runs self checks everytime I use it, and it's noisy and annoying when it does this. Seems like the self checks go on for 5-7 minutes.

Love it!
5 Star Review   By rubydialynn on HP - Feb 7, 2013

I bought this as a replacement. I have a Mac and sometimes that can make life seem more complicated than need be. However, the nice people at HP sent me links to ones that were compatible with my system in the price range I asked for. I love it. My only con is the book that came with it. I spent about an hour trying to figure out the scan and getting the right size of said scan. But performance is great, quality can't be beat. I am very pleased.

5 Star Review   By Rayvan on HP - Jan 29, 2013

The H711n has everything I was looking for: Color, 2-sided printing, scanning, faxing and wireless communications. I have 2 people in my household with iPads who wanted wireless printing and 30 minutes after opening the box, wireless printing was a reality. Fax and scan were also a snap to set-up.

Printer has not worked properly since I purchased it. Copier is good, scanner- good, e-print-good,fax I do not use. Printer stops every time I use the duplicator! Single sided page seemed to be okay at first, now it even stops when printing and says to contact HP is problem persist. Has plenty of ink and paper, it really gives no indication of why it stopped.

5 Star Review   By Karyzma67 on HP - Jan 21, 2013

I've been using the HP 6700 for a week and so far so good. It was easy to set up and get it connected to my wireless network. It prints out nice looking pages using only the normal setting, same goes for the copying, the fax is easy to use. The only thing I haven't tried yet is the scanner, but I'm sure I have nothing to worry about. The touch screen is easy to use it walks you through setting everything up the 1st time you turn it on. The best feature for me is the duplex printing. I love HP printers and have never bought any other brand.

Excellent product at the price
5 Star Review   By Mario411 on HP - Jan 20, 2013

The 6700 is a capable machine bought at a very good price. The setup was quick and painless. The wifi feature is good given the other non-desktop users in the house. Two things are somewhat disconcerting: -You cannot be hardwired (USB) and still be wifi for the others. -Copy count is a sticky number. My first run was 20 multiple copies. I left the room expecting a follow on print to revert to a single. It did not so I wasted a bunch of paper on that lesson. Otherwise a great machine with good LCD display and touch control.

It does all I hoped for in a printer. The set up was so easy. The only problem I have is that you have to manualy choose to use black ink only.

Not what I expected
1 Star Review   By Sassy46 on HP - Jan 19, 2013

The last HP printer I had only lasted 14 months with minimal usage. So I went ahead and upgraded with the HP 6700 to replace the broken one and now wish I had gone with a different brand. I constantly have to unplug the darn thing to get it to come back on from its so called ECO status which is ridiculous. With the other mounting problems I would imagine this will go in the closet until I can sell it to someone else

5 Star Review   By OrlandoDoc108 on HP - Jan 19, 2013

Easy to set up. Good quality printing. Worth the price. Small footprint for my home office. Wireless works great. Copier also works well. Delivery was very fast (and free). I would recommend it. Also, I have had other printers (Lexmark, epson, brother). I have found HP to unquestionably to be the best. The only printers that you will see in a hospital or serious business is HP, by the way.

great upgrade
4 Star Review   By melmac on HP - Jan 17, 2013

I bought this printer as an upgrade. The wireless and network capabillities allow us to use laptops, tablets, and smartphones to print documents from anywhere. The print speed and auto 2 sided printing helps speed up print projects. I also like the abiltiy to upgrade the printer software without using the computer.

Nothing at all special about this printer.
3 Star Review   By Danny45 on HP - Dec 26, 2012

Despite HP's assurance that hooking up my printer with my WIFI system and computer would be a breeze, it certainly was not. It took over two hours with techs to get to work. I don't know what all the techs did except to download a new driver, but everything was far beyond my technical expertise. Subsequent printings have been only mediocre in quality with disappointing sharpness and washed out color.

Great AllinOne printer
5 Star Review   By JDAspen on HP - Dec 25, 2012

This is such an improvement from my previous HP all in one printer. It was easy to set up and the touch screen worked great. I did not set up the fax function as I could always scan and then fax over the internet using MyFax. I like the ePrint and print via wireless network features, so I only need to plug in the printer without a 2nd wire (i.e., USB was required in my previous printer).

stopped working on wireless
1 Star Review   By bthhltn on HP - Dec 18, 2012

at first this printer was easy to set up and worked just great, then after scanning a photo, it would no longer print. Kept getting this message, printer not found. I called for help and the tech did try but after over an hour I gave up and have ordered a cable to see if that will correct whatever problem is causing my printer to not work. I do not recommend this printer to anyone.

Meets and Exceeds Expectations
5 Star Review   By SkinnyJack on HP - Dec 17, 2012

I am very satisfied with the purchase of this printer. I was very dissatisfied with the printer I owned previously, which went through ink very quickly and was quite expensive. The HP 6700 series has great speed, functionality, ease of use and does work when you print wirelessly. Even my wife succeeded using it on her first try and that was an eye opening experience since she is not computer savvy to say the least. I think that really says it all.

So Far So Good
4 Star Review   By hillgal23 on HP - Dec 16, 2012

I bought this to replace an Officejet 4500 which I was very dissappointed in. So far this printer is printing without a lot of paper jams. I just hope it stays that way or will I have to buy another printer in a year. Just have to wait and see. It was easy to install. Had to do it twice cause electric went out on the first run. It seems to be doing the job I need of printing Newsletters and Labels.

Great product, still needs tweaking
4 Star Review   By PowerPhotoUser on HP - Dec 16, 2012

Owned for 10 days. Lots of experience with prior generations of HP all-in-ones. Still need to test faxing. Bought for e-print capability from iPhones and iPads and other tablet devices, duplexing, separate cyan/magenta/yellow/black cartridges with large capacity SKUs, capable of good photo quality as well. Pros: Product setup, installation, cartridge installation, and firmware update went quickly; installed on three Window OS's: Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Prints easily with AirPrint from iPad without need for HP ePrint). Large paper tray, touchscreen UI, duplexes nicely, prints fast. Hoping to easily print holiday letters and labels on new all-in-one to replace older PhotoSmart 7200. Cons: Pricier unit is large and tall; need to push back on counter so we don't hit the paper tray when passing by. Copy defaults to Color setting - should let me pick default. Video demos don't let me skip: >> part of touchscreen ignores input so you have to wait for video to finish. Had trouble copying from the auto doc feeder using the front panel. Sensor detected paper (chime), but the scan kept coming from the scanbed. Checked online for a solution, then chatted with agent. Had to turn unit off, unplug, wait 30 seconds, turn on and retry. ADF has barely been used once with five sheets of paper, so lint rollers should have been clean. I would not want to have to do this every time I want to copy six sheets of new, unwrinkled, unstapled, untorn pages. Also had a WiFi issue - two HP wireless all-in-ones, one used with older XP computers and WEP, the new one setup for WPA. Netgear router has two wireless options, one setup for WEP, the other for WPA. New all-in-one lost its wireless settings insisted I use WEP wireless connection. Had to reset it to use WPA and re-enter password. in fact, I found HP ePrint to be not worth the trouble of installing (appeared to require tedious installation of email addresses and passwords which I think is a security risk, did not work once I configured the first, so I gave up and deleted the app). Software/firmware still have some bugs to be worked out.

HP Officejet 6700
4 Star Review   By contactvv on HP - Dec 10, 2012

This is a very good printer for a home office. I was thrilled by the fact that I can print wirelessly virtually from anywhere. This is a great feature and wonder if any other printer other than HP has it. The printer was configured easily and I was able to print even from my Smartphone. The only downside was it did not allow me to enroll for Genuine Inkjet printer cartridge reward points. I am not sure if we can print on a photo paper. Other than that its a great printer

Very convenient & easy to use
5 Star Review   By itschelsea on HP - Dec 9, 2012

I have found HP printers to be very reliable and easy to use. I only purchased this new printer because after 10 years, my old HP started to break down. This printer is excellent ~ especially for the price! The print quality is superb - and the convenience of being able to print via our wireless internet connection is definitely a PLUS. It does require a little bit of time to initially set it up, but it is well worth it. Purchasing this product directly from HP online was an easy and quick process.

Wow I can print from my bed or anywhere else
5 Star Review   By Colet73 on HP - Dec 8, 2012

I have had this printer for a few weeks now, I love, love, love it! I can print wirelessly from my iPad, iMac, hubby can print from his pc laptop, son from his cheapo tablet in and around the home....and I can print from anywhere, even out of state (not sharing this feature with the men of this home, else I will be out of ink and paper before I know it) It scared the hubby as he was sitting at the desk when I emailed files to our printers unique email address and they started printing out. Love the dual sided printing, saves on paper. I have yet to think of something I dislike on it. One thing that was a bit confusing was the set up paper directions, but once you get to step three, stop looking at the paper directions! Watch the printers directions on the panel carefully, it takes you through each step. It really was super easy from these directions! I highly recommend this printer for your home office needs!

Excellent All-In-One Printer
4 Star Review   By Alex27 on HP - Nov 30, 2012

We purchased this printer 12 days ago and the first one that was shipped to us was defective but after telling HP the problem, HP sent us a new one & so far its working good (knock on wood). With a house full of wireless devices, we needed a wireless network printer. We got this all-in-one printer, and we are quite happy with it. We can print from anywhere in the house from any of our desktops, laptops, tablets & iPods. It also copies well. It does not have to be near the router. It can be located in any room, which makes it convenient. It does have a large footprint, so don't get this if you don't have space for it, the paper tray out front, and the flip up cover on the top (for copies). Printing is effortless. It also has duplex printing. We like the paper tray capacity, because we don't constantly have to refill it. Overall, I would recommend this printer for anyone who is looking to set up a small home/office.

I really like the printer, I've had several HP printers. A few times it didn't connect with my wifi, so I rebooted the computer and printer. Other than that it works great even when I send something to print from my laptop at the other end of the house. Of course the printer ink is always very high in costs but I like color printing as well as black. I have a lasar printer for doing the ordinary printing with black.

some problems
4 Star Review   By SureToRise on HP - Nov 24, 2012

I bought this printer the same time I bought an all in one HP Pavilion 23. This Pavilion has windows 8 installed, and in attempting to make the printer work, I kept getting an error message saying that the Pavilion does not meet the requirements for the printer that shows it works with windows 7 and below. Around 2 hrs on the phone from India (this person had a heavy accent and talked to fast to understand) to the US, of which everyone had an accent hard for me to understand over the phone. The last person did get the printer working finally.

This product is perfect for every day use.
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Nov 20, 2012

I was excited to receive my new HP printer. I have it for one week now, and I haven't used all of the features that are shown on it (i.e. two-sided copying). One feature that my previous HP printer had which is not on this one is a photo card reader. The only drawback was the installation directions sheet. They made it difficult to read and difficult to follow the diagrams (especially for the ink cartridges). I did notice, also, that ever since installing the new printer, my mouse pointer tool kept "spinning." When I Googled this, one of the choices given asked if I had recently installed a new HP Printer! When I looked up the answer, sure enough, it described the problem. It had something to do with having the printer tell you about the ink levels! I also originally set up the printer as a wireless printer. I have since changed that to a wired via a USB cable printer and I'm enjoying it much better.

3 Star Review   By maria1937 on HP - Nov 20, 2012

I must of overlooked the machines on "screen display feature" when I read the reviews. The screen is very hard to read and where I have to place it on my desk makes it even more difficult to make adjustments .Haven't used the wireless connection yet, will see how that functions when I set it up.A little apprehensive based on some of the reviews. Probably wouldn't buy this unit again based primarily on the screen being so small and hard to read without leaning almost on top of it. .

3 Star Review   By jasper1 on HP - Nov 3, 2012

When I ordered this printer I was told that it printed on both sides of the paper. This was touted as a great selling feature and, for the price, it certainly was. BUT while it does copy two one sided originals to a two sided copy, it does not create two sided copies from two sided originals. I was floored! It never occured to me to ask about 2 sided to 2 sided copies. Other than that since the price was right and the printer performs adequately I will keep it.

Sounds clumsy and fits backward
2 Star Review   By Juan2243 on HP - Nov 2, 2012

Compared with the OfficeJet G85, this sounds like a broken engine, and the orientation for a side table is awckward: too much space sideways, which is the one least affordble. To print an envelope, one has to remove the whole stack of regular paper in the tray; not like in the G85. And the following day you had a special sale for $10 less. If I have the opportunity, I would upgrade, to see some improvements, hopefully. Next time I'll think twice before buying your HP products

Disappointed per set-up & features problems
2 Star Review   By NewOrleanian on HP - Nov 1, 2012

Setting up the HP Officejet 6700 Premium was much more complexing than expected and I have problems in utilizing all the features of that the printer offers due to compatablitiy with my computer system. Whereas I have a smart TV and smartphone, each allowing for utilization of application software features; and I have used computers since the 1960's (per militiary duties, CPA firm staff member and corporate management employment (CFO) now retired), I was looking forward to utilizing the smart features of this printer. Unfortuantely it was not compatible with my computer system to utilize fully the wireless features available of the printer. Though I have years of experience with computers and vast knowledge and experience with complex material (including IRS tax code and corproate contract matters), the setup and learning to utilize the features available, as I have stated, was very complex. This review has been requested from HP after I have had the printer only a few weeks. Perhaps I will resolve the pending utilization matters after more experience and further knowledge of the printer.

Good for home use
4 Star Review   By NCShopper on HP - Nov 1, 2012

I think this product will be all I need for home use. I am moving into a home office and will try using it for work. I think it should do the job.

Great Printer
5 Star Review   By rek49 on HP - Oct 31, 2012

So easy to set up...didn't take long at all and within 15 minutes was ready to go. The digital screen is easy to read. I would strongly recommend this all in one,

Quiet, easy, and user friendly
5 Star Review   By Cheri82 on HP - Oct 29, 2012

So far I have absolutely love the performance of the HP 6700 Premium. It's so simple to use, makes double-sided copies in a flash, and is extremely quiet.

Great Product and Easy to Setup
5 Star Review   By Sturt on HP - Oct 29, 2012

I had a Cannon printer for years that I love. It finally died and I had to find a new one. This printer is a great replacement. It was super easy to set up and does everything I want it to do quickly with little thought on my part. The prints quality is everything I need.

Good price, but ...
2 Star Review   By JBE12 on HP - Oct 27, 2012

Features and price are great. Performance ok. The rest not so good. Randomly looses wireless connection (sitting right next to the router). Randomly looses the ability to scan, fax or copy and requires a reboot. HP says to update firmware for these problems, but that did not work. Uses color ink, even when you have it set to print black only and them locks you out of printing if one of the color cartridges runs out. Very clever way of selling ink. Right now it's stuck in a maintenance loop.
