great price, lousy printer
1 Star Review   By tiredandfrustrated on HP - May 12, 2013

I bought this printer at Sam's Club, brought it home, took it out of the box, set it up, and the rollers would not pull the paper in to be printed. They didn't move at all. Packed it all up, returned it to Sam's, switched it out for another one, brought it home, unpacked it and set it up. The black printer cartrige did not work. Packed that one up and returned it to Sam's for full refund. I am not sure I want to spend any more money on HP products if I have to keep returning it immediately after opening it up. I don't have time for that. I've never had so much trouble with an HP printer before, but I don't want to spend more money on something that may or may not work right out of the box.

Excellent Printer
5 Star Review   By GeoJ on HP - May 1, 2013

I bought my printer a few months ago. Very reliable quality document & photo printing, no paper jams, great paper tray that holds a lot of paper. I have printed so many documents that I have lost count and I am still using the original ink cartridges which are now at the 3/4 mark. With my previous Kodak printer I would have gone through numerous cartridges, not to mention the paper jams. The HP scan application is very easy to use. I am very pleased with this printer & would highly recommend it.

Missing important features
3 Star Review   By computergirl on HP - May 1, 2013

My last printer, also an HP, had the capability of printing on both sides with just a keyboard command. This printer does not have that. I have to print two pages on one side to get that. Sometimes too, it spits out extra paper. All in all, it's OK, but not great.

Perfect For Our iMac and MacBookPro computers
4 Star Review   By Jake47 on HP - Apr 20, 2013

We have an iMac and MacBook Pro, both running on Mountain Lion (OS X 10-8-3) with WiFi. Our Apple products seem to work best with HP printers (we've tried others). When our HP 6500 709e Officejet died, I read several consumer reviews on various models of HP & then headed into Walmart to see what's available. A shipment of HP 4622 Officejets had just arrived. It was a printer I had not read about until I purchased one & returned home. Oh brother! The reviews from 2012 were awful! With Walmart's return policy, I decided to set it up and give it a try anyway. Set-up was a breeze, including a trouble-free WiFi. Prints, copies and scans were all excellent quality in every respect with no problems. I have printed photos from iPhoto and copied photos, & they are also excellent quality and color. I have had no problems with paper jams, although I do pull out the lower tray every time I want to print on both sides or add paper; something I did not do with the 6500, but it's no big deal. It's a LOT quieter than the 6500. We do not use the fax capabilities, so I cannot critique that feature. On the Con-side: I can picture the cat jumping on the flimsy plastic output tray and breaking it; but it does what it's supposed to and we keep an eye on the cat. And then there's the ink (my reason it's not a 5-star): My stock of 6500 cartridges fit nicely into the 4622, but the 4622 told me the ink was from an older model HP and would not work. I wish HP would work out a generic cartridge in cases such as this. I always buy the XL size and it seems to last as long as it did on the 6500. We've had the 4622 for 2 months now and overall, we're happy with our purchase.

Brand New Doesn't Work
1 Star Review   By suzie81 on HP - Apr 18, 2013

Looks great, nice sounds, not annoying beeps like my old Kodak printer but never got to print one page. Error message read: There is a problem with the printer or ink system. So very frustrating. I am going to return it and buy another one just like it. I will let you know if the new one works and write a review on it.

Not a good product
1 Star Review   By HPLongTermUser on HP - Apr 10, 2013

This product was a major disappointment after using HP Printers at work and home for many years. I purchased this one early in February, was shipped a replacement in early March, and a second replacement in late March. Running MS Vista Home Premium may be the problem but I didn't care. The product was returned after the second replacement. The printer would go into sleep mode and would not come out unless it was turned off and turned back on. I had never had a similar problem with any HP Printer before. The Help Desk was great, as I said, they sent me TWO replacements, but the problem didn't go away. After 16 hours of frustration with the Help Desk, I decided to get the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus (for a lot more money) but haven't had a single problem since.

Poor set up
2 Star Review   By beachhouse on HP - Apr 4, 2013

I've owned many HP products, this one was the only one I've had trouble with setup. The wireless and FAX setup went well, but there is something wrong with the black cartridge dispenser even after replacing the cartridge. After completing all the troubleshooting steps online, I called support and had great difficulty understanding the tech person. Between my southern accent and the tech's broken English, I had to ask that someone call me back later. I'm still waiting.I am sure the person was knowledgeable, but the language barrier was frustrating. I am requesting replacement and/or refund of the printer.

This printer has everything I want and need
5 Star Review   By wanderer515 on HP - Mar 26, 2013

I use my HP Officejet 4620 e-All-in-One Printer nearly every day. I use it to print out postage labels for my small business and use the fax and copying regularly. I like how easy it is to use with the wireless connection and gives me the freedom of putting it where I want in my home. I also like how long the ink cartridges seem to last, plus being able to reorder them online from HP and have them the next day! I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a quality, easy to use all in one printer.

Good printer
4 Star Review   By Dirma on HP - Mar 5, 2013

I now have two of these printers, one in each of my houses as it seems to be the best out there for a compact size and price. I am using them with a MacBookPro which is new and it works fine. It does not appear to be compatible with older PCs. Prior to buying a new computer, i had a 2007 PC with Vista and it seemed to freeze the printer and was unable to use it. I had to return that printer as it shorted out. Bought another one when I bought my new computer and it works perfectly. When my husbands old PC was set up for the printer, it tried to run a test page and jammed the printer 5 times. Yet it worked fine for me. I was also unable to delete the test page from his computer until we returned to our other house and it disappeared. He will not be using the new printer as I definitely find them incompatible. If you have a newer computer, then it is fine.

Great printer

Set up in 30 minutes including my phones. Print is great compared with my previous lexmark printer. Can't seem to understand all the negative reviews. I paid 89.00 for this at Costco. I can't write that cheaply.

Worst printer I have ever owned
1 Star Review   By dee0926 on HP - Jan 30, 2013

If the box it came in wasn't ruined in a flood, this printer would have been back to the store weeks ago. From Printing, it takes so long to print one thing, scanning keeps telling me to insert my hp cd, which its all installed and still wont scan, small ink cartridges, saying the ink is cheaper, but you buy it more often, terrible paper tray that holds very little paper, and what a job to reload the paper if your in a hurry, the noise it makes when printing and I cant use different card stocks that I was able to use in my other hp printers, now when I print on anything other then regular white copy paper, I have to print at a staples. What sense does that make, I do alot of work on my computer, and now have to go somewhere to use stock that i have always used in my other printers. This whole printer is terrible, I hate it. Look into other printers.

Flawless performance and connection
5 Star Review   By ARC828 on HP - Jan 12, 2013

Let me tell you first . This printer came after I complained the first one that failed during the set up. Thanks HP Customer Care for the next day delivery (i.e. less than 20 hrs) you never failed me. As for this printer, I had no problem whatsoever from set up , connection, print quality, quantity, etc. even photo printing i tried it once with 8.5 x 11 and it was so crisp. so far it is flawless. I also tried eprint feature and google print and everything is absolutely working perfectly. However, there is a tricky part in setting up eprint online but once you've done it, everything will turn out good. Additional info: I think my wireless-N router played a significant role on wireless devices esp. this HP 4620 printer.

Horrible Printer
1 Star Review   By Dougie1006 on HP - Jan 4, 2013

I have had several HP printers but this one is the worst I have ever had. Tried to print one day and the printer was not available to print. Had to completely reinstall. Now, about every time I try to print from my computer the computer is "looking for printer" forEVER. I can usually print from my phone but not from my computer...whatever sense that makes. Really getting aggravating.

Good Printer Except for Paper In-put Tray
3 Star Review   By TopDogJoan on HP - Dec 19, 2012

I have owned this printer for under a month and am satisfied with the exception of the paper in-put try which is extremely awkard to access; also, you cannot add paper to the tray without removing all paper already in the tray. In addition, several times, when printing 1 page an additional page will accompany the print page out.

Save your money
2 Star Review   By MarJac on HP - Dec 18, 2012

I have had this printer for a couple of months now. I wanted to give it a good chance but I am not happy with this printer at all. When you click on "print" it just sets there for up to a minute then decides that you want to print a document. Then when it does print the font is extremely small if printing from my email account. Actually the files I am uploading look better as attachments than it does in person It seems to print fine in Word. But I get invoices that are not attachments in my emails, and they are barely readable when printed. I was told that the cartridges for this unit were not expensive, a feature that I was really looking forward to since all my other HP printer were ink hogs. This unit requires 4 different cartridges that do not last long at all. Out of the 5 HP printers that I have loved even if they were ink hogs, this one is the pits. I am not one bit happy with this printer. It does fax, it does copy and it does print. Printing flyers in color is a joke. they are faded out with a red or orange tint. Its been this way from day one. I was interested mainly in the low price. I still don't understand why someone can not make a lost cost printer that works well. Prints are not clear at all. I have tried working with the settings but have not found a way to correct these problems. Then I had my son try to work with them We go the same results. I suggest if you are considering this printer for the cost, just go a little more and get a better printer. I wish I had. I am going to contact HP to see if they will try to keep this established customer happy. I have my doubts.

HORRIBLE
1 Star Review   By netty2730 on HP - Dec 9, 2012

It has wasted more of my time...very LOUD grinding noise to print one piece of paper. I use it for my small business. Black ink ran out within a month and now it won't print anything else in black. The pages come out blank even though I replaced the ink cartridge, VERY frustrating as I really don't have the time to mess with it.

Loud/eats paper
2 Star Review   By Helen5150 on HP - Nov 30, 2012

I've had this printer alost two weeks and it's eaten/jammed as many papers as it's printed. It is very loud; almost sounds like something is in the way when it's printing. The set up was easy, the features could potentially be benifical; however, I will have to play with a different printer, I plan on returning this product. The printer this is replacing is about 6 years old, I'll hook it back up instead of wasting the paper trying to use the new one.

Strengths: Easy to set up, works quickly, user friendly, prints quickly, wireless works great

Weakness: has four separate ink cartridges to refill

HP 4620 is perfect for my home office. I set it up all by myself and I'm not high-tech at all! It works great and is fast and is wireless and fits my home office perfectly

Great Printer
5 Star Review   By Marty8 on HP - Nov 21, 2012

This was a really good printer, the shipping was basic but came really fast and everything works terrific. I read another review which said the printer does not come with ink or cables (except power cord) and was a little hesitant about getting it but that was simply untrue, this printer has its cables (USB and a phone cable) and it also came included with ink so you can use it out of the box. Setup was a bit annoying as the paper would get hitched and jam, but after a few reprints everything is working great. I highly recomend this printer both for performance and price.

Too much
3 Star Review   By Lesco on HP - Nov 19, 2012

Like the idea of the web apps and understand its use, but don't want to use it. So why do I keep getting asked? This was an early Christmas gift. After scanning a document, the printer would not print the black ink. Color was fine. My friend took the printer to Office Depot to see if there was something she and I were missing. Seems the internal mechanism was defective. Embarassing but they gave her a new printer right away and all ended well.

Do not recommend
1 Star Review   By dee72 on HP - Nov 11, 2012

When it worked the unit was fine. It had frequent paper jams and made a grinding noise, like gears grinding at times after a print. Took it back and got another one, same model. Same thing happened. Took that one back and bought an HP 8600 at a higher price and it works great. Would not recommend the HP 4620.

Excellent printer for the price
5 Star Review   By langeley on HP - Oct 23, 2012

I am using this printer at home for me and my kids. I wanted a printer that can print, scan, copy & fax. It was easy to setup and we are using the wireless. If you want a basic printer this is great for the price. I also like that there are small color cartridges to replace. My last printer it was either a black cartridge or a color cartridge which runs into alot of money. I highly recommend this printer for home use.

Excellent Product
5 Star Review   By baycat on HP - Oct 15, 2012

Arrived on time, as promised. Easy to unpack and set-up. Since I do not have corded phone line close to unit, did not set up fax, so it took only about 10 minutes from opening carton, to printing. This is my first HP printer in about 8 years, when I evaluated a new concept one, along with a camera for a research company. I liked that one, but already had one that made copies, a feature I use a lot. Overall, I am very happy with purchase and will reccommend to others.Price was great. Ordering was easy. Phone salesperson was knowledgeable. I am 81 years old, female and have been using computer and peripherals since 1986.

Do not buy this absolute piece of garbage unless you want no support, a terrible website and worthless customer service. You may be better off setting fire to a $100 bill, at least you wouldn't have to frustrated out of your mind, hoping this worse than useless machine wouldn't jam with the next sheet of paper you feed it. Unfortunately I can't give this piece of trash zero stars because it deserves it.

this product has design faults
1 Star Review   By almuna on HP - Aug 22, 2012

Design faults are: 1. there is a space between frame and glass at the sides so a picture cannot be properly aligned because the picture slips in this empty space causing the image to appear crocked. 2.it is not easy to lift the cover to use the scanner and even harder to lift the second cover to replace the ink cartlidges.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!
1 Star Review   By ColoradoJoe on HP - Aug 8, 2012

I just started using this printer and have been very disappointed with the performance of the printing function. Often times I cannot print documents in Word--other times, the pages which I print after performing the nozzle-head or printer tests come up with blurred or streaked ink--usually in the areas of black ink. I am already in my second cycle of cartridges which I bought for this printer (cyan, yellow, magenta and black--this time I bought the extra large cartridges) but they appear to be guzzling ink at just a fast rate as the original cartridges did. Moreover, I cannot print more than one sheet of business cards at a time and the card sheet gets stuck in the tray after the printing is done. Why was I stupid to buy this printer in the first place? Unless someone can come up with a way to fix this high-maintenance piece of junk once and for all, I am going to get rid of it in the next few days. Enough is enough!!

Great for home/ general printing
5 Star Review   By KRAH on HP - Aug 2, 2012

With all the choices.. I am glad I bought this. It is noisy like some of the reviews say, but it's the ink cartridges.... There are four- one black and three color. Installation was easy- just use the instructions and CD. It prints clearly and nice color. I would recommend if you need an everyday, home printer. Ink is reasonably priced to replace. I bought this because they have great customer service in my experience.

Nothing worked!
1 Star Review   By KarenAnn on HP - Jul 29, 2012

I purchased this printer and spent about 3+ weeks working with it. I have never been so frustrated. It installed easily as I find HP's always do but it didn't live up to the HP brand at all. Never could get the scanner to work. The fax fed several pages through at a time. The input tray only holds about 20-30 sheets of paper and after using about half that I got the message that the printer was out of paper so I was always adding more. Don't purchase this model! HP should just trash this one. I was able to take it back and found another printer that I love!

Doesn't have important features
3 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Jul 27, 2012

I assumed when purchasing the 4620 that it could easily do all the simple things in printing, including double-sided printing and grayscale printing, that my old 6210 printer could. This was an incorrect assumption. I spent a total of about 1 1/2 hours with HP tech support personnel on the telephone, during which time three tech reps told me the 4620 couldn't do these simple things by itself and that it couldn't use my 6210 software, which was still on my computer, to do them. But, while exploring the various capabilities of the new printer, I discovered that it can, indeed, use the 6210 software and print the way I had become accustomed to with my 6210. It works for me. Someone else buying this printer might not be as lucky as I. They might not already have compatible software already on their computer or otherwise available. It seems very strange to me that HP, already having developed and incorporated good printing software on my five-years-old 6210, would not incorporate it in the 4620.

First impressions are very positive.
4 Star Review   By ArnieK on HP - Jun 26, 2012

The printer was easy to order...shipped and was received on time...and was extremely easy to set up and integrate with my network. Scans and prints, whether auto-fed or placed by me, went smoothly and took less time than some critical reviews I'd read had led me to expect. I'm waiting to see how it does with notification of low ink -- if that goes well, I might be inclined to go to five stars upon further consideration.

Simplicity
4 Star Review   By JTFJ2 on HP - Jun 16, 2012

So far so good with the 4620. Nice print from nearly any decice, easy setup, and access to many settings via a dedicated webpage just for the printer. Two things, however: You may need to run the printer alignment test a couple of times. The first time is done as part of the setup process, but if you need to do it again, go through the printer webpage. Printer alignment cannot be accessed via the normal toolbox, only through your printer's dedicated webpage. Second, and a minor gripe, is that the page printout tray gets in the way of the paper tray itself. If you want to load a photo, say a 4x6 or 5x7, you'll have to take the printout holder completely off and then reinstall it. Not hard, just a tad annoying. I've had some VERY bad luck with HP printers in the last few years, so I am hoping this one turns out to be the charm. So far, so good.

2 Star Review   By Idgie15 on HP - Jun 1, 2012

I purchased the HP 4622 today so I could scan and email work documents. I have 35 pages to scan in and it is taking a very long time, at an hour and still not done. I am very disappointed and will most likely return the printer. If you need to use this for multi page scanning, I would not recommend this product. Pros: The e-print works well and was very easy to set up.

Easy set-up
5 Star Review   By Jock007 on HP - May 30, 2012

Very easy to set-up though the print cartridges took a while to figure out how they went into the holder. Works perfectly and my first scan, my first FAX and my first print job went fine. I still have to figure out how to insert envelopes and cards. This product replaced my old HP scanner and a deskjet 940c printer (my reliable workhorse for many years).

some features difficult to use
3 Star Review   By zinc on HP - May 26, 2012

I would like to have had a manual (hard copy) accompanythis printer. The manual might have explained the icons/buttons below the screen and to the left of the screen. I'm finding some features such as faxing and scanning dificult to figure out how to use. Loading paper into the tray at the bottom of the printer is awkward, especially when I try to place one or two sheets of paper on top of the sheets already in the paper tray. The paper can't be slid in all the way unless I first take the other paper partway out and place the addtional sheets on top. Copies of text and photos are clear and sharp.

HP 4620 e-All-in-One Printer
4 Star Review   By Dwranny on HP - May 26, 2012

This printer looks good; however, the print output is small and hard to read. Vital keys, especially the fax keys, on the front panel do not light up (making it hard to see what you are pushing). The driver was hard as Hades to find (even on the HP web site) and the wireless option was difficult to find and link. This thing takes FOUR ink cartridges!! A 3-colored ink combo package is available (but not in XL size), but it would have been better if the black were included. The ink is not all that cheap either. HP could do much better in that area! The beauty is that it is a fax, printer, copier, and scanner. The biggest drawback in multifunction equipment like this is that if one part goes out and needs to go to the shop, you lose all the others too! Overall, I liked the product but not the hassle it took to get the proper driver and link the wireless option...and I have a great deal of computer experience and tons of patience.

The printer is a little difficult to set up. The directions are worthless . And the auto Fax Copier feed does not work. But for a cheap printer it does a nice job. The cartridges are also cheap. You get what you pay for..I was looking for an inexpensive printer, and this fits the bill.

smalll problems
4 Star Review   By djkauf on HP - May 10, 2012

The printer is fine, but there was a problem. Due to the connecting cords being too short, I had to rearrange my whole computer layout. The connection to the computer needs a much longer cord. Al;so, the output tray is a mess... my previous printer allowed me to print large output without having pages fall on the floor. This pull out kludge won't let me print large files unattended.

Disappointed-Frustrated-Angry
1 Star Review   By woofie on HP - May 9, 2012

I have been a long time loyal customer of HP printers for many, many years, that has now changed. I purchased the 4620 on 5/8. Attempted to setup printer, after 4 hours consisting of on line help, new drivers, talking with a real person at HP, I ended up with a Scanner Failure, could not scan or copy. Took this printer back to where purchased and exchanged for same model on 5/9. This time it was 2 1/2 hours ending with Hp person on phone. This time it was a printer carriage/printer ink setup problem, could not be fixed again. I took this one back to store and replaced with different brand entirely, setup was 1/2 hour tops. 96 wasted miles and 40 in gas. The saddest thing is this was to be a temporary printer for a month or two, I do bookkeeping and needed a printer right away and couldn't afford what I usually use now I might have to switch permanently.

Unfortunate
3 Star Review   By quiltnsew on HP - May 8, 2012

This printer was to replace a Photosmart 209a that stopped functioning. I was careful to call HP directly because I needed a printer that will print an envelope that is 5 3/4 X 8 3/4, which is the size of an 8 1/2 X 11 in sheet of paper. I print at least 100 of these envelopes a year, for charity. I was told by the representative from HP (Felix) that this printer would do that. I received the printer, installed it, and could not program it for that size envelope. I called HP again, only to be told that this printer cannot print that size envelope. I returned the printer. I don't know why the salesmen are not informed. Maybe there is, indeed, a way to set it up that way, but no one there could help me do it.

HP Officejet 4620 All-In-One Wireless Printer
3 Star Review   By Aylegator on HP - May 2, 2012

I've never purchased an HP Product before. There are a few features I use frequently that the Epson Inkjet printers have that the HP Officejet printer did not have for a cheaper price. Epson Inkjet printers allow double-sided printing. Their scanner software allows multiple page scanning. Also it automatically names saved files incremently. i.e. SCAN001, SCAN002. There are probably a few other features this product doesn't have that I've yet to discover. I'm disappointed with this product and will be returning it to my place of purchase.
