Epson WorkForce WF-3540
4 Star Review  cnet.com - Dec 21, 2012

THE GOOD: The <b>Epson WorkForce WF-3540</b> workhorse multifunction is built for performance with cloud printing capabilities, extra-large-capacity ink cartridges, dual 250-sheet paper trays, an intuitive touch-screen display, and an external USB port for standalone copying and scanning. THE BAD: The 3.5-inch touch screen display works well with gesture navigation, but its fixed angle inhibits its usability in higher positions. THE BOTTOM LINE: Complete with wireless access, remote printing in the cloud, an interactive touch screen, and several paper trays, the Epson WorkForce WF-3540 is well-prepared to handle large workloads for home offices, corporate teams, and everything in between.

Not impressed
2 Star Review   By Nautonnier on Adorama - Nov 6, 2013

I've had this printer for about a year, and while it prints quickly and legibly like most printers today, what's the point of having two drawers for paper when the printer doesn't recognize the second drawer? Every time it tells me it's out of paper, I check the second drawer and it's still full. And I've never had a two-sided printer jam up as often as this one does. It seems about every tenth page jams it. And then it resumes from the beginning of the print job rather than the point where the jam occurred!

3 Star Review   By Sean333 on Adorama - Nov 6, 2013

I bought this printer a few months ago and since then it has been great with a few exceptions. One is that when faxing there are sooooo many communication errors it is impossible sometimes to get things that I need and when they do the people on the other end have sent them through so many times that I get a stack of the same fax!!! The other issue is that it doesn't seem to recognize a few things like wireless and multi page scanning. I assume I set it up wrong would love someone to give me some tips or even Epson maybe has a tech that sets these up so I don't have to buy another printer. Please advise and thank you.

printer WF-3540
3 Star Review   By puk on Adorama - Nov 5, 2013

the printer WF-3540 is a good printer that I enjoy using it regularly. However there is one problem I can't figure out. Any time I print something from my computer the printer always uses tray # 1 for the paper. That is where I print photos from so I have to remove the photo paper and replace it every time I just want to print a sheet of paper. Why doesn't it take paper from tray # 2 like the instructions say?

So far, so good
4 Star Review   By vabirder51 on Adorama - Oct 29, 2013

I like the touch screen panel -- I used it to set up the wireless connection and it was pretty easy. Love the features that my old printer didn't have: two-sided printing and fewer color cartridges (3 instead of 5). It is noisier than my old printer, but will try setting it on a rubber mat to dampen the vibrations. I don't print that much that often, so the noise won't be a problem. And oops I did shake an ink cartridge after pulling off the yellow tape, so got some blue ink on my fingers.

Home and Office
4 Star Review   By Cherry K Services on Adorama - Oct 27, 2013

I have had prior Epson electronics stereo, vcr and such items I needed a dual tray printer for my home and office as a signing agent, realtor and bookkeeper. I need to print both letter and legal pages in loan docs. I love the large capacity ink cartridges. Only one minor set back that I have is the switching from letter to legal the printer does do this but it's only minor because I have a PDF sorter program and it sorts the pdf into letter and legal and tells me the order they go back into. but I love the quality of the printing. I can also print to it from my phone, my tablet. I even went an purchased an Epson single tray printer-copier-scanner for my outside office. te one at home office also faxes. The cost was cheaper then others I had looked at and the cost of ink cheaper but I have not sacrificed quality of my printing.

5 Star Review   By RAH on Adorama - Oct 25, 2013

My perfectly good Canon printer was incompatible with my new MAC laptop so was forced to buy a new printer. Tried an HP first which crashed upon installation. Took it back and got this Epson, which I installed in less than a half an hour. Print quality is terrific and touch screen is intuitive. The instructions were complete and clearly written by an English speaker. I am very pleased.

WF-3540
4 Star Review   By glenn on Adorama - Oct 25, 2013

Good price and we wanted a wi-fi upgrade and a copier that didin't need a computer. Start up was easy and the CD flawless. It would NOT recongnize the network! After calming down i went on line and used the printer window of reset the Wi-fi and it recognized it just fine. Why not with the CD? The keyboard on the printer could use a command to move to numbers, alpha, and symbols.

Epson WorkForce WF-3540 All-in-One Printer
5 Star Review   By Judy on Adorama - Oct 18, 2013

I was forced to buy a new printer as my old one had issues. I was very concerned about purchasing a new AIO because I print constantly, and I wanted something user friending. So far, I've found this Epson WorkForce to be everything I had hoped - very easy to load the paper and the ink cartridges - very fast and smooth - lots of printing and scanning options. A very nice desktop icon to allow me to control the printer from my desktop. I give this printer an A+

Epson has figured it out
5 Star Review   By BarbyGale on Adorama - Oct 18, 2013

I just got this printer replacing my WF 520 after 3 years of constant and heavy use. It is at the end of a busy Friday, I'm exhausted, but I had to get this set up--and it was a breeze even with my diminished mental capacity..I have tried other printers over the years and Epson is the ONLY printer I will purchase from now on. They have figured out how to make a small printer that almost sets itself up, is sturdy and dependable, and even a non-techie like me can use it. My hat is off to Epson.

So So
3 Star Review   By Just a Guy on Adorama - Oct 17, 2013

Just set up a Workforce 3540. Seems like it works fine. After registering the printer, I received an e-mail from Epson with a 10% discount code for their online store. I thought I'd get extra ink for the new printer only to learn at checkout that the discount code didn't work. After scratching my head over it I noticed deep in the fine print that the discount doesn't apply to ink. I think it's petty that they wouldn't allow this to be used for a product that I just purchased. Next time, don't even bother, Epson.

5 Star Review   By Jack on Adorama - Oct 17, 2013

A truly remarkable printer for the price. It handles everything I have sent it and I have just established a wireless connection from one of my laptops and it works very well. I have been an HP fan for many years and this is my first foray into the Epson world of wireless printers and I am amazed at the simplicity and ease of setup. I would definitely recommend this printer.

WF - 3540 first day impressions
5 Star Review   By Boli on Adorama - Oct 14, 2013

This printer installed without any problems. I put it to use to make double sided prints immediately - since I was behind schedule to produce the manual for the classes I teach. The setup screen was very intuitive. I used mostly the quality presets for B&W and for color. The B&W double sided printing is surprisingly fast. Maybe 4 seconds to print both sides. The color double sided printing is much slower - may be 20 seconds for the 2 sides. I printed some 400 pages, mixed B&W and color. All double sided. Not one single paper jam! That is impressive. There was no paper curl either - as I get on the laser printers I used in the past. I wish the processor was a bit faster for the double sided color printing.

Exceptional Printer
5 Star Review   By hanK on Adorama - Oct 12, 2013

This is my second Workforce printer. The Workforce 500 was a great printer. When it needed replacement I went to the Workforce 3540. My wife prints our church bulletins on this printer. I gets a lot of use. We basically use all functions on the unit. It is very consistent and the quality is excellent. The information provided by the printer on it's instruction screen is easy to follow. I would recommend this printer for anyone needing a good printer with many resources. Over the years, I have had very good experiences with all the Epson line of printers

5 Star Review   By Jim on Adorama - Oct 12, 2013

Easy setup right out of the box. Very happy with purchase. Great print quality. Holds 1000 sheets of paper which is nice. Speed is good. Only confusing part is being able to print from iPad iPhone and print by emailing to printer . Seems to need something called epson connect. No info on how to get it or set it up. Will be calling epson. Otherwise great product.

Excellent Printer
5 Star Review   By John on Adorama - Oct 12, 2013

WOW!! I am impressed with this printer. It's quiet, fast and setup is unbelievably easy. For the price you can't find another brand's printer that can come close to this printer. It's the perfect all-in-printer for a SOHO. With two paper trays and a rear paper feed, I'm able to have one tray for legal and one for letter. And, I can print envelopes and checks without having to pull out the paper tray, adjust the paper guides and put the tray back in. This printer improves productivity.

So far so good. Installation was lengthy due to windows XP on desktop. Notebook with Windows 8 was much faster. No issues with the wi fi installation. Epson WorkForce 3540
5 Star Review   By EverywhereEyes on Adorama - Oct 9, 2013

The Epson WorkForce All-in-One printer is a delight to use. The printing requests are fast, quality is sharp, duplexing multiple pages requires only a click of the mouse, the ADF is fast without jamming, paper trays do not require persistent reloads, scanning of documents are photo sharp and fast, and the front touch screen panel is user-friendly. At long last, an All-In-One printer that is a pleasure to use. I LOVE my Epson WF-3540!

Yeah, I said it - and I mean it. This is the best printer I have ever owned. Fast, great color. Connectivity is awesome, via wireless or print directly from Apple iPod, iPad or iPhone. Also can e-mail documents from anywhere, to your printer. You get a confirmation if it printed. For the money, I don't know how you can beat it.

Installation ease
5 Star Review   By bogturtle on Adorama - Oct 7, 2013

Followed instructions, even though store was willing, for a fee, to send a techy out to make sure I could print with no wires. Super easy, and where I made some gaffs, I was able to backtrack with no problem. Gaffs were mine from not reading carefully. Truly hassle-free installation.

Epson Workforce 3540
4 Star Review   By Shrimpboat on Adorama - Oct 2, 2013

This printer is fast, has great color and very clear print. I like the fact that it is an all-in-one printer. I do a lot of black printing and appreciate the fact that I can get extra super-size cartridges that last a very long time. This is my second Epson printer, I had an Epson Workforce 500 for several years. It is a good product.

Pure Awesomeness!!
5 Star Review   By lghrngal on Adorama - Oct 1, 2013

I purchased this all-in-one machine to replace a similar type I owned for about nine years (finally gave out). I read the wonderful reviews on this product and they were spot on! Great print quality, very fast without sacrificing quality, wifi set up was a breeze! I also like the display and it was very easy to set up (took me about 20 minutes to install and begin using). Great scanning capabilities, can scan to multiple formats. I use it for business and personal use. Overall, I am very satisfied with this all-in-one machine and highly recommend it!

ABBYY FineReader Sprint
2 Star Review   By Anonymous on Adorama - Sep 27, 2013

I just unpacked my printer last night. Be sure to NOT install ABBYY FineReader. It crashed my entire Office Professional Pro 2013 on my Windows 8 laptop, requiring a complete uninstallation and reinstallation of Office. The add ins from ABBYY prevent both Word and Excel from processing properly. I spent over four hours on the phone with Microsoft support to find that ABBYY was causing this problem. Then I discovered it had also crashed the Office 2010 version I have on my desktop. At least I know now to remove the program. The printer seems to work fine. I haven't tried the scanner yet.

Best Printer I have had and I've had many
5 Star Review   By KKMD on Adorama - Sep 27, 2013

Features: Wireless, Air print, double sided, autofeed, 2 good size paper trays, the print (ink colors) are clean, vivid, crisp, the printer display-easy to scroll thru for options. The only issue I had was in the set up of "Scan" desktop icon; running Windows 7. I believe the "abby fine reader software" (required for install) causes communication w/printer issues, but I finally got it working. It also interfered w/opening MS Excel/Word. Once I disabled it as an "add-in" in Excel/Word, they opened fine. Now this printer is great. The best I've had.

First Experiance WF-3540

This is my first try at a Wi-Fi Printer. I was looking for a printer that is apple air friendly, this is it. Its a good feeling to use these functions and actually see them work like they are supposed to. I have always used wired to computer so its been a freedom from wires setup. I would recommend this to a friend

The Epson WF-3540 is an excellent product. It prints very quickly, has two paper trays and the touch screen is easy to use. It can scan, copy, fax, print and its wireless. I have it linked to my cellphone and have printed documents and pictures from it. That was a feature I didn't expect. It is by far the best all in one printer I have ever purchased.

Great but troubleshoot with Epson online
4 Star Review   By Reviewer on Adorama - Sep 24, 2013

Print quality, options, automatic double-sided printing, 2 cassettes for 2 paper sources are all fabulous! Truly! The "BUT" is that the scanner wouldn't work with my laptop. I wasted 2 hours uninstalling, reinstalling, searching the web for answers until I finally went to the Epson site for a fix. It worked and now I have the exact product I had hoped for. I highly recommend it. Just don't waste time attempting fixes. Start at the Epson website! :)

5 Star Review   By dabrwa on Adorama - Sep 22, 2013

So far so good. This is my first Epson product in many years. I basically picked it because of the sale price. The printing is fast and fairly quiet, quality is good. The wifi printing was easy to set up with Windows 8 and works well. Will be setting up as a network printer next. I expect that will be simple too. Copy functions work well, still working on making the scan function work the way I want it to.

Good Product Tough Setup on Mac
4 Star Review   By GregA on Adorama - Sep 21, 2013

This product gives you an easier option to set up with a USB cable connected. However, that option does not appear on Macs, only on Windows installation. I had a very difficult time, because I could have made the wireless connections via the printer screen, but my router password configuration uses $ for any S in a password. My network router password has $ as the first character (and maybe more). You can access characters from the 1 key on the touchpad, but $ is not an available character! Come on Epson! After two calls with the Epson Hotline, I finally, used a Windows laptop (work) to setup the network connection for the printer because the wireless with USB cable temporarily connected option was available there on the installation disk. Then I went back and added and selected the printer on my Macs. The helpline suggested changing my router password. I wasn't up for that with 15 devices from phones, pads, wii, etc. connected. This solution finally worked. 3 hours later... The support line was generally helpful once I got to the level 2 person. Other than that, nice printer. Zzzzz

Epson WF 3540 Printer
5 Star Review   By Boxcab on Adorama - Sep 21, 2013

We have had this printer for about 2 weeks and have not had any issues with it. We like the large paper capacity as sometimes we do volume printing for church Sunday school classes. We need reliable faxing and fax receiving at times and our old printer was not always reliable. The print quality is outstanding and we enjoy the sharp crisp text it prints. The auto two sided feature is nice also. Overall a very nice office workhorse printer.

Close but no cigar.
3 Star Review   By xcs on Adorama - Sep 19, 2013

I purchased this printer because of its capabilities and looked forward to being able to put an odd sized paper in the second cassette and being able to leave it in there for a frequent job I do. But they built it so that anything other than letter size and a4 have to go in cassette one. The problem with this is that cassette one is the default cassette and there is no setting to make cassette two the default. So basically for all intents and purposes there is only one usable cassette for your jobs and your stuck with loading and unloading non standard paper in it. I really do not see any advantage to this machine unless all you do is letter size paper. I was very disappointed as I see no reason to set it up this way.

Epson WE-3540
4 Star Review   By Hub on Adorama - Sep 17, 2013

I would have rated the printer a 5 star if I had been able to get the wireless/WiFi to work on the main network MacBook Pro computer. The only way it will print from the main computer is with a USB cable. I am able to print wirelessly with iPhone, iPads, & MacAir Book. However, I still can not print wirelessly with my MacBook Pro. Time will tell if the Epson WF-3540 will perform to advertised expectations.

Customer Service Above n Beyond
5 Star Review   By Chef 13 on Adorama - Sep 16, 2013

Had our Epson WorkForce 615 for about 4 years. It was great, so when it recently died wanted to stay with the Epson Line. Of course, setting it up was very simple but trying to get it to work in the wireless network turned into a mess. Called the 800 Customer Service # and WHAT A GREAT PERSON CAME TO THE RESCUE! I believe her name is Carmen, but she talked me through the steps without a problem. She couldn't have been more professional. This is just one reason I stayed with Epson. The WF-3540 prints so much faster and clearer than my old trusted WF-615. Thank You Epson!

am not a tech expert by any means... Needed a 4-in-1 for a new home office, and after research chose the Epson. I really like it. It was pretty easy to set up (took time, but not too much...) It is easy to use, having done photo prints (excellent color), scans and photocopies. Haven't tested the fax yet. Note I set this up wireless, successfully, in one evening. Would definitely recommend this printer.

replacement printer
4 Star Review   By under the arch on Adorama - Sep 11, 2013

We had an Epson WF 610 for the past few years when for some reason it wouldn't recognize the ink when we went to change it. We liked that machine & after some research decided to replace it with the Epson WF 3540.Many of the features are the same such as changing ink. I was able to set my 610 up as wireless just using the disc, but no such luck with the 3540. it took the better part of a day to set up 2 laptops to wireless using Tec support. It's performing fine now using all 4 features, but I would never been able to figure out how to do it the way Tec support finally got the problem solved. I do think manufacturers are using too much cheap plastic. I broke the 2nd paper feeder just trying to unpack it from the blue tape. Fortunately I'd probably never use it anyway. I like the Epson products & hope this one outlasts my last one's several years of service.

First off, when it prints the work it fine. The problem is getting it to print. The Wifi worked for the first few weeks. Then stopped. So I hooked up a network cable to it. The problem now is that every time you want to print you have to remove the printer and re-add it because it does nothing otherwise. The print jobs just sit in the queue.

5 Star Review   By Skip on Adorama - Sep 2, 2013

I thought the Epson WF - 3540 was easy to set up with the "Start Here" instructions that came with the product. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I was up and running in about one hour. I have been using the WFR - 3540 for two days now with no problem. Today I set up the wireless connection for a second PC and again the instruction were very good and I am now printing from this second printer. I have been using a Epson Stylus Printer 785 EPX printer for just about 10 years with no problems so I am sold on Epson printers and hope my new WF - 3540 runs even more than ten years with no problems.

The Rapaputy Band
5 Star Review   By The Rapaputy Band on Adorama - Sep 1, 2013

Excellent user friendly all-in-one printer compatible with most current operating systems. Out of the box to complete computer installation via 'included' software took about 90 minutes. After inserting the software disc into your CD/DVD drive don't get in a hurry and wait for the prompt screens that take you through the installation processes. You will need an Ethernet to USB cable or standard double USB cable for computer hook up (not a shocker) if using hard cable connections. The 'included' Quick Guide and Start Here booklet/flyer were most helpful, very straight forward, with lots of very good pictures and graphics. Printer cartridge installation with the included printer cartridges was literally 'a snap'. This is not my first rodeo for printers. Over the years I've owned 6 or 8 printers from various manufactures but this EPSON WF-3540 printer has exceeded my expectation for quality and user friendliness. The one year warranty is respectable coverage but after my initial experience with this product and previously reading the various internet reviews I don't think this warranty will be need.

First Epson
4 Star Review   By New to Epson on Adorama - Aug 31, 2013

This is my first Epson. My old printer stopped working and I saw this Epson Workhorse WF-3540 on sale. I was very pleased with the quality of the product. Having WiFi capabilities and dual paper trays plus the price for all the capabilities sold me. Not many printers offer two trays. My old printer used 6 cartridges where this one uses only 4 so there will be a savings in long term ink purchases as well. The printed page is excellent and photos are very good. The speed for printing and two sided is excellent. I didn't give this a 5 star rating as it is a little confusing to set up the paper tray selection. Default is to tray one but that is the only tray for photo paper so you have to set all functions to use paper tray 2. Directions are not clear but after a hour of hunt and try I was able to set my printer to default all print functions, fax and copy to use letter paper in tray 2.

Epson Workforce WF-3540
5 Star Review   By GMKing79 on Adorama - Aug 29, 2013

I purchased the WF-3540 as a replacement for my Epson Stylus CX7800, and I have been very satisfied. The setup was simple, the printing is fast and clear (and the double-sided saves paper!), and wireless printing is simple. Scanning is excellent as well. The one feature I will miss is the ability to scan slides and negatives, but given the increased function and speed, I will find another alternative for my photographs, as the WF-3540 rich features make up for that one function.

So Far So Good!
5 Star Review   By Gigi on Adorama - Aug 29, 2013

I just purchased this yesterday, but I have been impressed so far. I am replacing an Epson Work Force 545 that never performed as I had hoped, so after 4 months of unsatisfactory performance, I decided to cut my losses and just replace it. [The 545 is no longer manufactured.] I address lots of envelopes [different sizes] so it is important for me that they come out of the printer clean and ready to mail. I completed my first project today and the envelopes were perfect once I determined and corrected a few glitches regarding margins. It also handled an 80# cover stock well - another plus! One thing I found a little annoying was setting up my wifi. When entering my passcode numbers, it was necessary to push each number multiple times since it first reads as a letter then finally a number. It is like a phone dial. It would be nice if you could "number lock" when entering all numeric information. I have not faxed anything yet, so I hope I do not have to go through the same tedious procedure to enter a telephone number. I also tried using the rear document feeder and each time received a message not to use it. Have not figured that out. It must be there for a reason, but I am not sure what it is yet. If the 3540 continues to perform as it did today, then I will continue to be happy with my purchase!

No problems at all so far :)
5 Star Review   By DD on Adorama - Aug 28, 2013

I sort of expected to have problems installing this printer from reading some of the other reviews but it went along as easy as pie for me. I use Windows 7 Professional 64 bit so I don't know if that made a difference or not. I used to have a very expensive wide format printer from another major brand but really had nothing but problems with it from the beginning with stalling, so called paper jams when no paper was in it, etc. For that reason I decided to downsize and get another printer - not to mention the price of ink was soooo much cheaper for the Epson. While the print out for graphics is not quite as good as the other printer they are very acceptable for my needs... and I'm pretty picky about what I send out. While I really didn't need all of the things the WF Epson came with they do work and that's all that matters. I'm a very happy camper. Thank you so much! Oh, and if this printer didn't have borderless printing and a rear feed paper tray I wouldn't have purchased it at all. I hope Epson reads these comments because it's getting more difficult to find printers that have these options. DD

Installing and Using Epson Workforce WF-3540
5 Star Review   By Mike on Adorama - Aug 27, 2013

Installing the WF-3540 took a bit longer than other competitive products I have used, but it was a no-brainer. Just click start and follow the prompts. Nearly outfoxing myself, I set up the wi-fi from the control panel before popping the cd into my pc. But it worked out by selecting the option for Printer Already On Network option. I love the printer after only a few pages of output. Speed is great for an inkjet, and quality is great, both b/w and color. I made a great choice in selecting this machine. WF-3540 has exceeded my expectations for the price in features, construction, software and performance. About the only thing I haven't tested on it is Customer Support, but I may never get around to that.

Installs great!
5 Star Review   By vbplayer3 on Adorama - Aug 27, 2013

I've only had my WF-3540 for a short time but I have great expectations based on the effortless and logical installation. I installed the printer on my home network which sometimes can lead to a lot of trouble. The installation went perfectly, I installed the network printer on both my in house pc's and I'm good to go. The fax and scan installations were also perfect so I look forward to a lot of help in my work from this all-in-one beauty.

Great product
5 Star Review   By stewie 2 on Adorama - Aug 26, 2013

I have had the WF-3540 for about two weeks and it works great. The only thing I haven't tried is faxing but I assume it will work as well as the printing, scanning and copying have worked.
