DON'T BUY THIS PRINTER

Strengths: NONE!!!!

Weakness: Needs ink to scan or upload pictures

My biggest complaint with this printer is when you are out of ink you cannot use the scanner or upload pictures from your sd card to the computer. That sounds like a rip off to me!!!!!!!!

Strengths: What?!

Weakness: Too many!

Do not buy this printer! It takes so long to start, then takes forever to print! When I first used it didn't take that long. Now that I've had it for a while, it usually takes at least 3 minutes to print like one page! And I always get messages before my document prints (if it does print)saying "your printer is not ready to print". It may be my computer, but I initially never had this problem. Now, everytime I print, the end of the paper gets stuck and ink smudges all over the bottom. Then sometimes it wouldn't print the bottom half of my document! Let me tell you, the ink is not cheap, so to print everything twice is a waste of money. I am very dissapointed.

Twice Burned LCD's
1 Star Review

Strengths: Slide/Film scanner ability, good scans, decent prints,

Weakness: Failed LCD's

Twice burned on two units between Epson warranty and Best Buy's extended warranty. Would still like to have instructions on how many times to press up, down, left, right arrows to do nozzle check etc. which commands aren't in the manual or in the software program. Epson and Best Buy are off of my list for future business. Anyone doing a class action on this printer (Epson Stylus RX600) please let me know. I missed out on the ink deal.

Never Another Epson
1 Star Review   By member Savage92503 - Oct 6, 2007

Strengths: I'm begining to wonder if there ever were any. Sorry I listened to a friends recommendation.

Weakness: LCD screen totally failed a month or so after the warranty expired and sucks up ink(expensive) and now will not print stating parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life..:-(

I cannot believe that I was not smart enough to research this printer before I purchased it. It would probably not done much good as I bought it over 2 years ago when the model was first introduced on the market and bought it on a computer friends recommendation. It has had the LCD go out and constantly uses ink like I've never seen. Now the computer is totally locked and will not print. I am finding it will be cheaper to buy a new printer then to get this one repaired.......NEVER AGAIN...ANOTHER EPSON

Epson lost me!
1 Star Review

Strengths: IF it worked all the time, it would be a great printer...IF..

Weakness: If the LCD worked, I could tell what the heck I was doing!! Which cartridge needed replaced in order to continue printing, even though I was not using that color....

I've previously owned an Epson and was quite happy with it, when it died of old age I purchased a Canon....love it, wanted an all in one unit and purchased the Epson 600 Stylus Photo RX600 and I haven't quit cussing for 2 years....will never go back to Epson. Still using my faithful old Canon and though it's slow, it's reliable...more than I can say for the RX600

Buyer Beware - do not purchase as a long term printer!
1 Star Review

Strengths: The first year was great except the high cost of cartridges. Currently, Epson has a class action suit regarding the ink cartridges.

Weakness: After one year, the LCD display no longer works.

Do not purchase! I have included this chain of discussion from SEVERAL RX600 customers: www.fixyourownprinter.... As you can see, after the warranty expires, the LCD display dies rendering the printer's 'extra' features useless. Epson normally sends a refurbished printer to you, but it doesn't last very long either. In this case, stay away from the dazzling 'bells and whistles' that Epson tries to sell - - it either becomes a money pit or boat anchor after one year!

Buying an RX600 is like throwing your money away!
1 Star Review   By member ScottHann - Jun 8, 2006

Strengths: None!

Weakness: Where do I begin? LCD failure two months after I bought it. Epson replaced it with a reburbished unit. A year-and-a-half later it needs servicing costing $175.00

I've had all of the problems as the above users (LCD screen died, "parts inside need to be replaced," paper jams, etc.) so they don't bear repeating. However, I was foolish enough to give Epson a second chance, and purchased a reconditioned RX600 from them for $129.00. Shipping was free. It was the lesser of two evils. It was either that or $175.00+ to fix my current unit. Right out of the box there was a problem with the printing. As the printer came close to the end of the document it would repeatedly twist the paper, smearing the text at the bottom of the page. This has happened over and over again. Or, the paper wouldn't come out at all, and had to be manually pulled from the printer. Epson, as they've repeated shown in the past, don't care about their customers' concerns. Emails go unanswered. When I talked to one of their representatives they told me all they could do was extend my warranty 30 to 45 days, but as it broke down for a second time after I owned it for 18 months this extention was little more than a slap in the face. Two months after I bought the unit brand-spanking-new the LCD died. In conclusion all I can say is that I've seen this model listed on eBay with an openning bid of $0.98 plus $19.98 shipping and, sometimes, there were no takers. This speaks volumes for Epson and the faith the marketplace has in their product. My next move is to file a complaint with the BBB. Oh, did you know there's a class action lawsuit against Epson. It's been rumored that they design their printers in such a way that when 15% of the ink remains you are told you are out of ink, and MUST replace the cartridge if you want to continue printing. As I mentioned before, if only one ink cartridge is "empty," and not necessarily the one you're using, it must be replaced or the printer will stop printing. Well, at least Espson designed one good thing about this printer ... their profit margin!

1 Star Review   By member scoobie5 - Dec 9, 2005

Strengths: high expectations, but no cigar

Weakness: where should I begin...(and I'm serious)

First of all, I had such high expectations about this printer before I went out and got it. All-in-one except the Fax options, which is what I wanted. I don't have a fax and I don't need all of the extra annoying fax buttons on the display if I'm not going to use them. So I was up for it. Then when I got it I realized that it takes a long time to boot, start, initialize (whatever you want to call it) each time from the "inactive" mode before you actually print. And please keep in mind that it's in the inactive mode most of the time, so you are like waiting for over a minute before anything prints, very annoying and disappointing with all the high tech products out there. I thought I was getting top of the line. Then I was experiencing problems with the paper feeder, it would jam quite frequently. and NOW after 15 months of major dissatisfaction my LCD screen dies on me. (and from reading other posts I realize that I'm kind of lucky since it died after 15 months as opposed to 5 months as it happened for many of you) NOW, guess what? all the nifty functions, including printing digital pictures directly from the memory stick of your digital camera without starting up your PC is out of the questionl, as well as many other functions. Even replacing the cartridges is difficult now that the LCD is gone, although I think you can do it through the annoying pop-up window that pops up on the screen each time you print, but I never got a chance to get to that point yet, since I didn't have to replace my cartridges since the LCD died. And also let me tell you that the cartridge replacement is an expensive headache. I don't think EPSON has got it when it comes to printers, stay away, especially from this model, and most likely any subsequent ones, since they are just variations of the initial one, in this case RX600. And I'm not just saying that to put down EPSON or anything. I'm simply trying to save you some headache if you are thinking of getting RX600. Go with some other brand. Major, major disappointment.

don't buy rx 600
1 Star Review   By member bgilmo - Aug 29, 2005

Weakness: lcd failure

i can't tell you how many items i found on the web about the LCD dying within six months (my case) or less. calling epson customer service is not very satisfying either. they act as if they're doing you a big favor in even considering replacement of your printer then when they say they will replace, i said i didn't want the same printer with the same problem... she said i can't guarantee you if you will get the same rx 600 or the rx 620. here's the catch, customer service says it's what's available at the warehouse (major b.s.). after talking to another customer service rep, i was told i would get a replacement rx 620...HERE'S THE CATCH...it may be a refurbished printer...NOT NEW...that applies to the rx 600 and the rx 620 both...i told them, i didn't buy a used one, and they said, well it's like a car, after driving off the lot, you only deserve a second hand replacement. also the ink cartridges are outrageously expensive, and if you buy an off brand type...an annoying widow pops up every time you print anything and tells you it is off brand, and do you want to continue. NICE GOING, EPSON...after i use this rx620, i am out of there as a customer

5 Star Review   By member RoadiJeff - Mar 24, 2005

Strengths: Easy to use Epson Smart Panel interface, 6 individual ink cartridges for excellent quality printing and saves money when replacing, compatible with many different memory cards.

Weakness: None I have found in the 4 months I've owned it.

I shopped around for weeks looking for something to replace my flatbed scanner, OLD color inkjet printer and laser printer that were all taking up space in my home office. I wanted something that I could change ink cartridges individually so that when one color runs out I wouldn't have to throw away something that may still have half the ink left of other colors. I've read that more colors means it can produce a better quality print - this one has 6. This thing does it all. I can operate it through the Epson Smart Panel software on my PC or it works very well as a stand-alone without the computer even being on. I am amazed at how easy it is to do different tasks. At $77 for the replacement cost of a set of all 6 ink cartridges I thought that might be an issue but I found listings on eBay for complete sets for $14.95 (what a deal!). After 4 months of use this is certainly a product that I do not regret buying or that "Gee, I wish I'd bought a so-and-so instead." I love it and it has been a welcome addition in my home.

Strengths: Everything!

Weakness: Nothing yet...

I love this printer! Unlike my last HP three-in-one, it doesn't take more than one piece of paper when printing. Also, the quality is amazing! I have yet to do more things with photos but I did print out a couple and they did turn out great! I think this is the best quality you can get for your money. If you are looking for quality then definately go for this one.

Epson Stylus Photo RX600
5 Star Review   By member jrallas - Sep 26, 2004

Strengths: Very quiet, excellent photo quality on premium glossy photo paper. Very fast scan speed and excellent quality. The USB 2.0 interface allows very fast downloading of photos from my MMC cards to PC.

Weakness: I haven't used all the functions, yet, but haven't found any weaknesses.

I researched many All-in-one printers before deciding on the Epson RX600. I haven't regretted my purchase, yet... Since I got my digital camera over a year ago I've used it's USB 1.1 connection to download photos to my PC. I inserted the MMC card from my camera into the slot in the Epson printer and it responded immediately. The PC asked me what program to run. I chose the program for my camera and the download flew way faster than I expected due to the USB 2.0 interface. I've scanned several photos and was very impressed with the speed and quality of the results. So far I've had no problems, but will definitely update this review if I do. I highly recommend this printer. Update: 12/26/07 - I still use the printer almost every day. I've gone through a fair share of ink cartridges, but they're pretty inexpensive compared to others I've seen. I mostly print and download photos from the SD card from my camera via the front card reader, and occasionally scan a photo. I've never had a problem and I'm extremely happy with it's performance so far.

5 Star Review   By member xzxbob - Jun 15, 2004

Strengths: It is fast, quiet and a pleasure to use. The manual is very well written and large print so it's easy to read.

Weakness: So far none!

I purchased this printer because I also purchased a new Digital camcorder. This allows me the opportunity to print my own digital shots from my memory card. I really like the viewing screen on the front of the printer. It has a very simple, but excellent operating menu. And I might add, it is a very good looking printer. I was going to buy another brand printer, but when I saw whar this all-in-one printer could do, I was sold.
