DONT BUY THIS PRINTER UNLESS U OWN A PC
1 Star Review   By ITpro on OnSale.com - Aug 22, 2007

Strengths: EASY TO USE DESIGN

Weakness: CANON DOES NOT UPGRADE THEIR DRIVERS FOR MAC COMPAT.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER UNLESS YOU OWN A PC OR JUST WANT TO USE IT CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO YOUR MAC. IF YOU PLAN TO CONNECT THIS TO A PRINT SERVER OR A CHAIN OF PRINTERS OR WANT TO USE A PC AND MAC WITH THIS PRINTER CANNON DOES NOT PROVIDE SUPPORT IN THEIR NEWEST DRIVERS, WHICH ARE THE OLD MAC OS DRIVERS, AND THIS PRINTER WILL NEVER APPEAR IN THE DROP DOWN MENU FOR YOU TO CHOOSE WIRELESSLY OR IN OTHER APPLICATIONS. STOP BUYING CANON UNTIL THEY TAKE THE TIME TO UPDATE THEIR MAC DRIVERS FOR ALL THEIR PRINTERS.

PIXMA MP460
3 Star Review   By member apepples - May 18, 2007

Strengths: Prints fast, suitable printing quality for the price.

Weakness: I had problems using my memory card to transfer photos to printer directly. Scanning function is a little slow.

I wish the color quality was a little better. The function keys on the front are a little difficult to work with to change from one mode to the next. Overall it's ok for the price.

4 Star Review   By member Ade1 - Mar 7, 2007

Strengths: The printer is easy to set up. Its print quality is excellent. All functions work as advertised.

Weakness: The printer is a bit noisy

Overall, I would say that this printer is a very good buy. The print quality is excellent. Like its Pixma IP cousins, the photo print quality is very good (I use Canon Glossy photo paper). I was able to setup the printer in less than 15 minutes. I use the printer for my everyday home print/copy jobs. This printer lives up to the Canon brand reputation.

Canon PIXMA AIO
4 Star Review   By member docvenzon - Feb 24, 2007

Strengths: great photo print quality, good scanner

Weakness: expensive ink cartridges

This came bundled with my laptop purchase. It was free after rebate so the price was great. It replaces my old HP all-in-one machine. I print photos from my digital camera. And this printer has pretty good print quality. The only caveat is that it works well with Canon and Staples premium photo paper. I tried using my HP photo paper on this printer and the colors did not quite turn out right. I've used its scanner function a few times and the images turned out fine. My only complaint is that the included software for the scanner is a tad clunky to use. I liked the HP scanner software interface better. But I just have to get used to it. Ink cartridges are a bit expensive, so I hope I can find a refill kit to solve that problem.

excellent product
5 Star Review   By member bigh2odog - Feb 21, 2007

Strengths: easy to set up and use

Weakness: none so far

This printer is so easy to set up and use I'm thinking of getting one for my mother. (Seriously) It makes excellent copies and scans with one click. I love this printer. It is relatively compact for a flatbed and closes nicely to prevent dust from getting into everything like old printer. I love this product

Good small size printer, But a bit Noisy !!
3 Star Review   By member Anonymous - Jan 11, 2007

Strengths: Fast, small size compared to what i use before canon mp390 have LCD display and Good printing quality

Weakness: The machine is bit noisy for my taste the Output tray DOES NOT open automatically ( so you have to open it yourself or else the printed paper will get jammed inside ) which is annoying IMHO.

I was using canon mp390 and bought mp460 because i want a smaller and better photo quality printer ( it is ). i'm just not happy with the noise and the output tray ( where the printed paper comes out ) so i end up leaving it open all the time.

nice all-in-one
4 Star Review   By member dinohound - Dec 21, 2006

Strengths: all in one, nice resolution, photo preview

Weakness: not network ready one, a little bit bigger than I have expected in size

I have had this printer for several weeks. It is a nice choice at this price. The color is nice and speed is OK. I like the photo preview feature. The user interface is pretty much friendly. However, it is a little bigger than I have expected, occupying a lot of space on the table. And it is not a network ready one. Anyway, a good choice for the price.

Splendid Printer - Buy It
4 Star Review   By member kyletreece - Dec 16, 2006

Strengths: Attractive looking, Quiet (w/ 2 sound levels that are programmable by time of day), bluetooth-enabled printer, scan quality is awesome, less buttons compact design

Weakness: scanning doesn't respond to bluetooth

I love this printer, I just happened upon it as an impulse buy. Mind you I had been through the following printers: Epson Stylus All-in-One, Konica Minolta 2450 Magicolor, HP Photosmart, Canon PIxma 8300 All-in-One - all except the Epson fell short of my expectations and I owned all those printer between I wanted a nice solid color printer, and all of the aforementioned fell short of expectations, either in terms of the price OR stylishness, until I saw a unique compromise in the form of this machine. They were really priced to move, and the printer is phenomenal except... ...When I print something I use a bluetooth adapter, the printer works without a hitch, but when I scan something, you must attach a USB cable. If this was intentional, then that's poor form, but I suspect it was a giant oversight with the software. That's the only thing that kept this from 5 stars, and it's a big deal for me.

Strengths: Good print and scan quality, Great photo prints

Weakness: Consumes cartridges fast

This is a great machine with versatility of use. Print and scan qualities are very good. Photo prints are also of excellent quality. It is very easy to set up and use. The rapidity of consumption of cartridges is a concern. Overall a good buy.

4 Star Review   By member xtcboy - Dec 3, 2006

Strengths: Inexpensive; media card slots; PictBridge port; IrDA port; excellent print quality.

Weakness: It would take a couple of minutes to start. Printing speed is not so fast.

I was looking for an inexpensive printer/scanner/copier to use at home. I found this printer on buy.com for $91 - $20 GCO = $71 . Print quality is nice, takes a while to start. Overall, its a good choice for a budget all in one printer.

Excellent printer at a great price!
5 Star Review   By member techlover - Nov 30, 2006

Strengths: # Print resolutions up to 4,800 x 1,200 dpi color and 600 x 600 dpi black # Optical scan resolution of 1,200 x 2,400 dpi # Print and copy at speeds up to 22 ppm black and 17 ppm color # Preview ima

Weakness: No fax feature.

This all-in-one printer serves my purpose to print out beautiful and clear pictures. I have had the Canon MP390 and decided to upgrade to the MP460. The one thing I don't like is the expensive cartridge prices. Otherwise, I'm very satisfied with this printer.

Great Printer for the money!
5 Star Review   By member marcusverkler - Nov 18, 2006

Strengths: Good print quality, good scan quality, decent copy quality. It's very easy to use, had no hassles. It's very fast, and relatively quiet! Great price!

Weakness: None at this time.

The print, scan and copy quality can always be better, but it can always be improved with any printer. Over all, it's a great deal! I've had no problems with it, and have been very pleased with it.

Cheap Wireless Printing!
4 Star Review   By member Rainking430 - Oct 22, 2006

Strengths: Nice speed, LCD screen, card reading capability, Bluetooth support for camera-phones and laptops.

Weakness: Bluetooth support requires additional hardware to buy. Footprint a bit larger than I expected. Scanning capabilities could be better.

I have been looking for the cheapest all-in-one printer for wireless printing from my couch, and I think this may be it. You have to buy a Bluetooth adapter from Canon (model BU-20), but if you do your research, you can get the whole package (both all-in-one and adapter) for under $150, like I did. The adapter is a small and unobtrusive USB print server that plugs into the unit's front USB port. Print quality is as expected from a unit in this category. All-in-all, if you have a bluetooth laptop and are looking for cheap wireless printing capability (and don't mind a little compromising), look no further than the MP460 and the BU-20 adapter.
