Product Details
Description
A small outline dual inline memory module (SODIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). SODIMMs get their name because they are smaller and thinner than regular DIMMs. The gold pins on the bottom of the SODIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a SODIMM are not connected. 200-pin SODIMMs are used to provide DDR and DDR2 SDRAM memory for notebook computers. 200-pin SODIMMs are available in PC2700 DDR SDRAM, PC3200 DDR SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-6400 SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-5300 SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-4200 SDRAM and DDR2 PC2-3200 SDRAM. To use DDR or DDR2 memory, your system motherboard must have 200-pin SODIMM slots and a DDR- or DDR2-enabled chipset. A DDR or DDR2 SODIMM will not fit into a standard SDRAM SODIMM socket. (Information about which memory technology your system uses is included in the Crucial Memory Advisor tool.) The number of black components on a 200-pin SODIMM can vary, but it always has 100 pins on the front and 100 pins on the back, for a total of 200. 200-pin SODIMMs are approximately 2.625 inches long and 1.25 inches high, though the heights can vary. Like 144-pin SODIMMs, 200-pin SODIMMs have one small notch within the row of pins; however, the notch on the 200-pin SODIMMs is closer to the left side of the module.

Weakness: Pricegrabber needs to actually show accurate pricing..

I have noticed that Pricegrabber does not update their pricing information and when you go to the actual company website you get a different price. Pricegrabber is making companies look bad by providing false information!

Crucial 4GB Laptop Memory Kit
5 Star Review   By member simshyam - Jan 8, 2009

Strengths: Super easy installation * Immediate increase in performance

I bought a dell inspiron 14 inch laptop from dell outlet for a really good price and config. Only exception being the 1 GB RAM that came with it. I found this deal on this RAM within the next couple weeks and bought it immediately since I had good experience with Crucial memory before. Installation was super easy. And upon reboot, it immediately recognized the new RAM. Since then, the performance of the laptop has increased considerably. I am now able to multitask without any drag. Thanks Crucial for the wonderful memory.

crucial 2 gigabyte notebook memory modules (kit of 2 x 2 gigabytes)
4 Star Review   By member ryk1998 - Nov 24, 2008

Strengths: lifetime warranty

good quality notebook memory. I have purchased quite a few crucial (now associated with lexar) products and am satisfied with quality and performance. Paid approximately $20 after rebate in November 2008. As always, check compatability with your notebook to be on the safe side. As usual, memory will show approximately 3 gigs and not 4 unless you are running 64 bit operating systems. I would probably use 1 x2 gig and 1 x1 gig (total 3) and use the second stick in another notebook ie sell it or give it to your best friend.

affordable memory for laptop
5 Star Review   By member kostya2 - Nov 13, 2008

Strengths: works as expected, great price, good warranty

Memory worked as expected. Dramatically better performance with these 4G than with 512M (Windows XP). Assuming rebate comes through the final price will be under $20. Could not pass it up, had to buy it.

crucial (now lexar) notebook memory upgrade 2 x 2 chips sodimm
5 Star Review   By member babymaya - Nov 3, 2008

Strengths: lifetime warranty, quality company

Weakness: none at all

This is the best way to increase your laptop performance especially at the low prices currently being offered. Crucial is a brand I have a lot of experience with and am more than satisfied. Check the crucial memory finder to ensure compatibility with your system. worth the upgrade at memory prices given that operating systems need more random access memory to function more efficiently.

review for 4GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SODIMM Memory Kit (2GBx2)
5 Star Review   By member woshihaoren - Oct 25, 2008

Strengths: Works very good and works immediately after install it. The price is affordable

Weakness: Not Micron Chips

I bought this crucial 4gb memory to update my thinkpad T61. It works great and runs immediately after install it. The price after rebate is good. hopefully the rebate coudl come back. I am a little bit disappointed because it is not micro chips, but it is not a big deal for me. Crucial has a good warranty system, so that's not a issue need to worry about. I would like to recommend this product. 5 star.
