Description
A small outline dual inline memory module (SODIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). SODIMMs get their name because they are smaller and thinner than regular DIMMs. The gold pins on the bottom of the SODIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a SODIMM are not connected. 200-pin SODIMMs are used to provide DDR and DDR2 SDRAM memory for notebook computers. 200-pin SODIMMs are available in PC2700 DDR SDRAM, PC3200 DDR SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-6400 SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-5300 SDRAM, DDR2 PC2-4200 SDRAM and DDR2 PC2-3200 SDRAM. To use DDR or DDR2 memory, your system motherboard must have 200-pin SODIMM slots and a DDR- or DDR2-enabled chipset. A DDR or DDR2 SODIMM will not fit into a standard SDRAM SODIMM socket. (Information about which memory technology your system uses is included in the Crucial Memory Advisor tool.) The number of black components on a 200-pin SODIMM can vary, but it always has 100 pins on the front and 100 pins on the back, for a total of 200. 200-pin SODIMMs are approximately 2.625 inches long and 1.25 inches high, though the heights can vary. Like 144-pin SODIMMs, 200-pin SODIMMs have one small notch within the row of pins; however, the notch on the 200-pin SODIMMs is closer to the left side of the module.

!GB PC2700 DDR SODIMM Memory
5 Star Review   By member julystuart - Jan 25, 2009

Strengths: Best price I could find. Fast delivery (got it in 2 days between Xmas and New Year).

The memory cards are working great so far. I installed them into 3 powerbook G4's for my inlaws and my wife. All computers are working great. The Tiger OS recognized the memory fine and the computers are performing superbly.

Great RAM for the Laptop
5 Star Review   By member salman59 - Jul 20, 2006

Strengths: Runs cool, Good performance, mid range price.

Weakness: None seen

First tried a cheaper RAM but it would heat up and reboot my laptop. This was slightly more expensive but it lived up to its name. Laptop is running smoothly for a week now. On top of it a $10 discount automatically showed up at check out and made the deal even sweeter.

Rock-solid Perfomance Boost!
5 Star Review   By member pSyGoN_PoLYgOn - Mar 25, 2006

Strengths: Easy, trouble-free installation. Reduced system lag considerably. Able to run many more programs simultaneously.

Weakness: Only weakness I could find is that it was not any cheaper.

Crucial has been in the memory business for years. They are a memory manufacturer and retailer. I was given a great product backed by a great warranty with great customer support. Made in the USA too!

Excellent!
5 Star Review   By member PCenthusiast - Jan 28, 2006

Strengths: Simple to install, plenty of RAM!

This notebook RAM was a snap to install. Trust me, with 1GB of (additional) RAM, your laptop will fly and Windows won't need to access the hard drive too frequently. Result: you work faster, your hard drive and battery will last longer. I tested this stick of RAM with MemTest86 and no errors were reported after 10 hours. Buy it!

Crucial 2700 SODIMM Memory
4 Star Review   By member jasonhwang - Jan 19, 2006

Strengths: Works well

Weakness: Poor Packaging

I purchased this through Mwave.com because it was the cheapest price at the time. I had a lot of trouble ordering this because they needed the shipping and billing address to match. I don't know if it was the manufature or Mwave but it just came in a poly bag stapled to the invoice. Where was the original box???!!! Was there one? In any case, the memory works fine and my computer is a lot faster now. Jason

Excellent RAM
5 Star Review   By member Steveskg - Jan 14, 2006

Strengths: Fast, warranty

I installed the memory yesterday into my Compaq Presario V2140US and it works great. I was in the market for a 1gb stick of ram, and I've known that Crucial has been the leading ram manufacturer for years. They have a great lifetime warranty, and I've purchased from them before. Never had a problem. My computer runs much faster now, and I can run a lot more programs at once. I love it. I got this ram for about $115 shipped. Not a bad deal at all.

Crucial Memory
4 Star Review   By member becherovka - Jan 13, 2006

Strengths: Cheaper than Apple by $200!!! Cheaper than Crucial.com by $100!!! This memory is the same that Crucial.com would recomend at nearly a $75 savings! Thanks to pricegrabber for hooking the info up!

I don't know why more people don't do their homework-if they did a little searching on the web they could save big bucks on the same products. This is the highly-recommended memory that apple folks promote at a fraction of the cost they charge!

Crucial 1GB (1024MB) PC2700 333MHZ CL2.5 DDR 200-PIN NOTEBOOK SODIMM
1 Star Review

Strengths: Honestly, nothing.

Weakness: Couldn't work in my Power book G4 17 inches

After reading all the reviews on this Memory , I decided to buy two sticks — 1Gig each. When I installed it in my Power Book (G4 17inches), it crashed on the startup and there after every time i rebooted the computer up. I sent it back for a refund.

Crucial = quality
5 Star Review   By member glanglitz - Dec 23, 2005

Strengths: Good timings at a great price.

Weakness: None.

This memory was an upgrade to my Acer Travelmate C303xmi. I swapped out the two 512MB SODIMMs by Infineon and replaced the one Crucial 1 GB for now. The timings are the same, 3-3-3, which is great for the price. Crucial is a well known RAM and I had no doubts about their quality of service. Ad far as performance, I did not have a performance gain since I only swapped out 1GB for 1GB, but I will be adding another stick of Corsair in a few months. Newegg came through again on the 3 day shipping.

Good memory for the price
4 Star Review   By member heczh - Dec 18, 2005

Strengths: Good performance and comparatively cheap

Weakness: None so far

Bought one for my Toshiba Satellite although Kingston was Toshiba's choice in the user manual. Installed it and the system recognized it on the reboot. The installation was simple and fast, anybody could do it. Programs open much faster and the battery life is about the same. (Just need to wait for some more time to give it 5 stars because my last crucial upgrade died on me after 3 years.)

Great deal for a good price
5 Star Review   By member aydin1r - Dec 8, 2005

Strengths: Brand name, fast and cheap

Weakness: None so far

I bought this memory to upgrade my notebook from 256M. And yey..., what a difference. This is a real great deal for the price you pay. It used to take many seconds of paging before I could run a simple application. I added this chip and my laptop pushes the limit. I am very happy, and I think Crucial is the name to trust.

Crucial 1GB PC2700 DDR SODIMM Memory
5 Star Review   By member jhkang - Nov 23, 2005

Strengths: Price, stable

Weakness: Not yet found

Works with existing HP's original memory. I was a kind of patron of Kingston but this time Crucial's price made me purchase this one. So far so good!

Wow, this was an awesome deal for this chip. I purchased it for my PowerBook, and it popped right in, no problems. It was also shipped very fast (for free). You cannot beat this deal on CRUCIAL memory.

Best price

Strengths: very reliable, cheep

Don't spend 300 from apple or 200 from crucial.com. Worked perfectly in 12" PowerBook G4 1.5Ghz. Very easy to install and saw a speed increase right away.

Great Memory
5 Star Review   By member westdorp - Aug 30, 2005

Strengths: Great Performance and excellent value

Weakness: none so far

Works beautifully with a Powerbook G4. Installation was a cake and there was immediate improvement in performance. You can't get a much better name than Crucial. Why get generic memory when you can buy name-brand for the same price. Their website will help guide you in memory compatability.

Very Fast, Rejuvinated my Laptop
5 Star Review   By member klinjeff - Aug 24, 2005

Strengths: Very Fast, Easy to install, great warranty, relatively inexpensive.

Weakness: None so far.

This upgrade made my laptop speed up tremendously. I have been using VMware on my laptop and running 2 guest operating systems on top of XP Pro. It was extremely slow because I only had 512MB of RAM which caused my hard drive to thrash while paging memory in out while the 1.6Ghz Pentium M processor was running at only 2-10%. After replacing one 256MB for the 1GB everything runs in almost real-time. My processor is being better utilized and my battery life has actually improved.
