An excellent value
5 Star Review   By member laboye - Aug 7, 2006

Strengths: Performance, heat spreaders/heatsink, DDR Dual Channel, runs cool

Weakness: None that I can think of

I recently built a PC and used 2GB PC2100 RAM. The first game I tried was Battlefield 2. I instantly set it to the highest settings and began playing. It ran smoothly except when moving into a new area or zooming in on things with a sniper rifle. A week later, I received and installed this memory. While only 1GB, this RAM performed significantly better than the 2GB PC2100. Load times in games like Nexus, Halo, Freespace 2, and Battlefield 2 were lowered greatly. Overall system performance is excellent. In the future, I WILL purchase another gig of this stuff. The included memory coolers/heat spreaders/heat sinks (whichever you like to call them) seem to keep the memory running VERY cool. I ran a stress test using MemTest86 for 30 passes. All tests passed with no errors. Memory also installed no problem. Basic system specifications are below: ABIT KN8 SLi Motherboard (nForce4 northbridge) AMD Athlon64 3500+ 2.2GHz eVGA nVidia 7600GS I would recommend this to anyone.

CORSAIR VALUE SELECT 1GB PC3200
5 Star Review

Strengths: The Best I see but not the cheapest i bought...

Weakness: it's so annoying to not find his weaknesses...

With normal timings i have the choice between CORSAIR and MDT. But for overclocking or aggressive timings i would prefer CORSAIR. Without to use for overclocking, i would prefer MDT cause it's more cheaper.

VS1GBKIT400 by Corsair, Review
5 Star Review   By member ericzart - Sep 2, 2005

Strengths: Fastest DDR Memory for the price, Lifetime warrenty, Excellent Quality, Runs very cool at default speeds

Weakness: No heat spreaders (only needed for overclocking)

When I went looking to upgrade my ram, I decided that Dual Channel was the way to go. I found that out of all the cheapest DDR400 (PC3200) RAM that the Corsair Value Select ram actually had the absolute best timing with 2.5 CAS and yet was still cheaper than Kingston CAS 3 Dual Channel. Hearing all the horror stories about people getting ram and finding out it was faulty, I decided to run some tests. I found the timings to be 2.5-3-3-8, not bad for under a hundred bucks! I ran MemTest86 v1.60 for 43 passes with no errors at 420Mhz. I know I could get a lot more out of it if I wanted to but I don't like to overclock my components. I expect that I will be buying another kit in the future.

Hard to beat for the $$$ .
5 Star Review   By member stereo555 - Sep 2, 2005

Strengths: Very stable and reliable , Corsair quality and warranty .

Weakness: none found

Corsair makes some of the most reliable , quality memory available . Ive been using Corsair memory for the better part of 5+ years without a single problem . Corsairs "Value Select" is a definite value without comprimising on quality and matches very well next to the more expensive XMS. I have both the "Value Select" and "XMS" series , and both are excellant .

Corsair Valueselect is great.
5 Star Review   By member Brannigan - May 7, 2005

Strengths: Fast,cheap,lifetime warranty.

Weakness: None that I can notice.

This is a good, cheap gigabyte of quick ram that works perfectly in dual channel mode without randomly rebooting like the kingston valueram in my old setup. I recommend this to anyone and everyone. I recently changed timing to 1T to see what would happen. According to Sandra the bandwidth went from about 4800mbs/sec to around 5700 mbssec. I then tried memtest and made it through 2 passes with no errors. Seems pretty good to me.

Strengths: Less expensive

Weakness: It is PC2700 (333 MHz) not PC3200 (400 MHz)

After I install the memory, the system memory speed dropped from 400 MHz to 333 MHz on my Dell 4600 PC. Though, it rated PC3200, but it is actually a PC2700 memory.

Strengths: Cheap price. Stable. Trusted Name Brand.

Weakness: None for this price.

You just can't ask for more at this price. I bought this memory kit, a pair of 512M PC3200 for $156. You can a life time warranty from a trust name brand. Speed is fast for this memory. Although there's no heat-spread on this memory, it doesn't give me any trouble with respect to the heat produced. I would highly recommand people who does not overclock their machine to use this memory. It's just a great value memory. Strengths: Two modules for dual channel, fast, compatibility

Weakness: None noticed or experienced

Bought Corsair as the brand name seemed one of the best and was not disappointed. Works like a charm. Also checked Corsair web site for description, support, etc. and was satisfied with what I read. Seems like a good brand name with good quality product. My first self-built computer is the fastest I've ever used and no doubt this 1 GB RAM plays its part in the process.

Price was pretty good on this memory, but it is not for high performance meachines. As long as you don't push this memory too far, it will be good enough.

I've had problems with other memory sticks in terms of trouble getting the memory on the motherboard or incompatability. In fact, I switched out the previous memory with this Corsair because my computer would randomly reboot. Once I switched, my computer works great!

Weakness: If it can be even cheaper, this would be an awesome deal.

It's only been 1 day, but I like these sticks of RAM a lot! I am enjoying them very much! I switched from the Crucial 512mb PC2100 to Corsair 1GB PC3200, and the result is amazing. I always knew Corsair is quality brand but I never thought it could match against other brand name RAM company. I would buy from Corsair again.

Strengths: Very good memory , Respected manufacturer name, Good price.

Weakness: None I have found.

I purchased this memory about 5 weeks ago and assembled my new computer 3 weeks ago. This was my first try at a total build ,so I'am certainly not an expert but the memory seems very good to me. I installed it in an Asus A7N8X-E board with an AMD XP 2800 processor. It is reading at the dual rate and all is working fine.

Strengths: Cost. Speed. Reliability. Ability to overclock. Relative low latency given affordable cost.

Weakness: None.

This memory is great -- affordable, fast, low latency, and ready for overclocking. Using the native SPDs, this memory rocks. Even better, it easily overclocks, although it does lack a heat spreader. Still, an excellent value. You can (of course) pay more to get lower latency memory and you can also pay more to get higher latency memory at the same time -- this memory strikes a nice balance for the typical user.
