Corsair CMPSU-850TX
4.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Dec 2, 2010

The Corsair CMPSU-850TX is the exact same as the CMPSU-750TX and the CMPSU-650TX except for the fact that it delivers 850 watts, making it the most powerful of the three. It comes with a five year warranty and is NVIDIA SLI-ready certified. It is quiet with a large 140mm diameter temperature controlled fan that keeps everything cool without generating a lot of noise. Not only is it quiet, but it also has a 80% and up efficiency ratings across 20%, 50%, and 100% load conditions. It has a dedicated, single +12V rail to keep it compatible with the latest systems that are out there. It comes with a Universal AC input that automatically scans for the correct voltage. To help protect the hardware of the system it has several features, including under voltage protection and short circuit protection. Features Supports ATX12V c2.2 standard and older ATX12V 2.01 120mm double ball-bearing fan 80%+ energy efficient ... PROS: (1) runs quiet - suitable for silent PC builds (2) highly efficient - makes the best use of available electricity (3) powerful enough for the most demanding high-end PC builds (4) great for overclockers - no need to worry about available power (5) uses quality protective cable mesh (black) ... CONS: (1) non-modular cabling - can be difficult to work with

The F-350 truck of power supplies
5 Star Review   By member alanmoore78 - Feb 25, 2010

Strengths: 4 PCI-e connectors, 6 or 8 pin on all of them, cables plenty long enough to run around a full Antec p182. And it's QUIETER than my 120mm fans.

Weakness: Not modular, but for a non-modular it makes up for a lot of lost ground with excellent quality cables and great connectors.

This power supply replaced a Raidmax Aurora 700W PSU in a Core i7-920 system we've had for a few months. We wanted to be absolutely sure not to have a failure, so we ordered a Corsair. This particular model is at the top end of the range, 850 watts, single rail, but not modular. It's still an awesome power supply and the braided covers on the cables are really great. At this point, except for re-using the Raidmax 700w in another box, I don't plan on buying any power supplies that don't come from Corsair.
