5 Star Review   By member billy_b_adass - Mar 29, 2003

Strengths: Very straight forward installation. Had no problems with anything thus far.

Weakness: Wished it handled faster RAM. No firewire, but I don't use anything with firewire. Fans, board fan, dual power supply fan, combined with CPU fan makes for a noisy environment.

Very nice board, seems to be working extremely well, although, my floppy drive burned up. I don't think that was board related. This is the first computer I ever assembled and was amazed at the ease. I had no compatibility issues with windows XP or any hardware I installed thus far. Make sure you get a 400W power supply or bigger for P4 processors. Definately recommend putting a heat sink on the main board fan, and possibly not installing dual power supply. The fans are small and noisy.

2 Star Review   By member fredmac4 - Mar 18, 2003

Strengths: Seems pretty fast - good PC2002Mark scores.

Weakness: No IEEE1394 Firewire ports, manual could be better written, unstable USB 2.0 performance - mouse and joy stick lock up periodically. LAN won't work at gigabit speeds - fine at 100Mbits.

Decent, but not great, PC2002Mark Scores. Gigabyte doesn't seem to offer any tech support other than FAQ and even that comes up in Chinese. Returned one board because of the USB problem. The board periodically locks up with the ATI 9700 AIW I have installed in the system. All drivers updated but still locks up. The LAN problem bugs me. I have other boards that work fine at gigabit speeds so it is definitely the Gigabyte board. It generally works I'm disappointed with this board. I'm junking it for an Asus PC800-E Deluxe board.

5 Star Review   By member Scheppele - Mar 4, 2003

Strengths: Has EVERYTHING on the MoBoard -easy to install - no jumpers to set - will not be out of date tommorow

Weakness: On board sound didn't like Sound Blaster Platinum card - both the on board and the Sound Blaster compeat at 1st sign on to XP - On Board was turned off in BIOS - Actually, on board sounds better!

Easy set up - my first DIY and I had no problems. Bought all new stuff - latest and greatest. DVD+RW, modem, Cable modem, 1GB memory, CD+RW, Nvidia FX video card, etc. 2.8GH Pentium 4, 3 hard drives

1 Star Review   By member sjcampbell - Feb 24, 2003

Strengths: Looks and advanced extras on the motherboard.

Weakness: Does not have a 8XAGP PRO slot, only a 8XAGP slot.

I waited for over one month for the motherboard to arrive. When the motherboard arrived I put together my new computer to only find out that the motherboard was DOA. Zip. Zero. Nada.

When I turned it on my power supply blew and fried everything plugged into the board. I am an engineer and have been assembling computers for about 10 years. I depend on fast computers for my company which does animation for court room presentation. I am not sure if it was the power supply or mother board. I have had power supplies fail with no damage to the system. I have never seen this happen. I am still interested in the board and I am waiting for shipment.

Strengths: Ease of use, Power, options, speed, utilities, everything

Weakness: no firewire but who cares.

I just finished building my new pc and based it around this motherboard. I had no problems with intsalling it and it runs like a dream. I've tripled my FPS in games (using Geforce 3 at moment soon to be GeForce FX) I can overclock anything with ease with the utilities. Best motherboard i,ve come across and i,ve built a lot of machines. The only problem i,ve found so far is it doesn,t like my SB Audigy 2 Platinum card (throw the bios out) not sure yet if its a compatibility problem or the card I will let ya know asap.

Strengths: Appears to be living up to the hype

Weakness: None that I can see

I'm a novice--I just built my first PC and this was the motherboard I chose. I had to have 8x AGP and I like the concept of S-ATA. I found the installation straightforward, I had no problems, everything powered right up. The issues I'm having appear to be all driver and peripheral related. If I'm wrong and they do relate to the motherboard, I'll come back and update this review. I didn't give my rating a perfect score because I don't know enough to recognize something perfect--and I didn't want to bias the reviews. Maybe Gigabyte got all the kinks out with its latest shipment. I'm quite happy right now.

Strengths: According to www.motherboards.org and many other websites this is the best P4 motherboard out their.

Weakness: Only supports DDR266 AND DDR200! But it doesnt matter because i know it can use DDR433

Just go to www.motherboards.org This board has Dual Channel capability which makes it faster than rambus. I would highly recomend this to everyone! Although not before i get one. And yes i havent physically owned it yet but no one else has wrote a review so i am taking it upon myself to tell everyone out their that if you want performance....excuse me.....extreme performance for the long run you need this board. And it is going to compliment my ATI 9700pro just fine.

Strengths: it look great out of the box

Weakness: It would work for about an hour and than shut off. I could not run any test; i.e Mad onion.

I am a system builder for 3 years now and I have never had so many problems a board like this one took me about 10 hours to setup this mother board. I enough power with my 480 Wat power supply. I just did not want to work. I wish it would.
