yea but use it awhile..
2 Star Review

Strengths: when you first get it .. it is great and for a great price.

Weakness: after about 10 months the tube starts to go out.. I've read 2 reviews that said this and mine went out 1 week shy of a year.. the 3 weeks before I had to keep pushing the on button several times.

I read that you can replace 2 75 cent capasitors and it will fix the problem.. they are the 2 green ones on the power board.. as of now I don't know what I will do

good for the money
3 Star Review   By member dhydavid - Jul 11, 2006

Strengths: sleek design, nice colors, low price

Weakness: 60Hz refresh rate at 1440x900, no built-in speaker

I bought this monitor with my new purchase of an HP desktop computer at Bestbuy. Upon setting it up, I noticed a bad pixel near the center. The next day I took it back for an exchange. The girls at Bestbuy examined the monitor, and acknowledged that it was defected. So I got a new unit, and after setting it up at home, I noticed a minor bad pixel in the center which was hardly perceptible. But after a few minutes the bad pixel disappeared. Now my monitor looks really nice and bright. I like the vivid colors on this monitor. The design is very impressive too. It matches the silver color of my computer. I like the three preset modes: picture mode, text mode and economy mode. The refresh rate at 1440x900 resolution is only 60Hz. I get a slight headache and dizziness after some time of using it. I am not sure if it is related to the low refresh rate, since I have heard that the refresh rate on an LCD monitor is not important. Maybe it is because the monitor is too big and bright, and I am not used to it yet. There is also no built-in speakers. I would like to have them built in so that I can save some desk space. I bought this monitor for $299.99 at Bestbuy, and a few days later the price went down to $239.99. I don't know why the prices at Bestbuy are always changing so drastically. Generally speaking this monitor is pretty good at this price. Buying from the store directly gives you the advantage of exchanging it for a new unit right away if it is defected. I highly recommend buying any big electronic products from the store directly if you can, instead of buying online.

Great monitor for a reasonable price
5 Star Review   By member Loverboy58 - Jun 30, 2006

Strengths: graphics, colors and brithgness have a very sharp look.

Weakness: Warranty coverage is too short

I purchased one of this monitors and so far I have no complaints. Graphics look great. When you play DVD movies with this monitor you get a very bright and color accurate screen. Also this monitor was so easy to setup. You cannot go wrong if you purchased one of this. I just wish the company would back this monitor for at least three years because they say that the life expectancy of this monitor is about 4.5 years, so how come they just warranted this monitor for only one year? This monitor should be warranted for at least three years. The response time is 8 ms, and for this type of monitors that is great. For me it was a good investment.

Overall a very good value
5 Star Review   By member Lecithin - Jun 13, 2006

Strengths: Sharp picture, good brightness, excellent refresh rate

Weakness: No glaring weakness or problems

I bought this LCD monitor after doing some research and talking with a friend that worked at Best Buy. I couldn't find much information on the monitor but he told me the company was pretty solid based on the products he had sold. I took faith in my friend and bought one and have never looked back. I figured for 220$ the thing wouldn't be very high quality, flimsy, and I would be stuck with dead pixels or some other problem. After a few weeks the thing has done nothing but impress me. It works great, looks great, and I have not had a single problem with it, I highly recommend this product.

Hot Widescreen Monitors Great Price
5 Star Review   By member smoothbassman - May 29, 2006

Strengths: Color - Contrast - Turbo Setup Buttons - Price!

Weakness: No ability to flip screen horizontally - No vertical adjustment to move screen up or down on mount. It does allow the monitor to pivot.

I have been searching for widescreen monitor for under 500 dollars for my music studio for a while now. I was about to break down and get a couple of 19" Apple Cinema displays and then I saw this on sale at Best Buy for 220 and scooped one instantly. Its color and definition was so good versus my old HP LCD that I had to go back the next day and get another one before the sale was over. After upgrading my video drivers to support the widescreen mode on my second monitor port I now have over 38" of screen to do my graphics and music at 1440 x 900 resolution. I have not heard much about the Westinghouse brand but they do have a 1 year warranty out of the box and the screens are rated for 40,000 hours of life. Thats 4.5 years of continuous use 24 hours a day before they go out. I think thats enough time for me to break them in!

Wow!
4 Star Review

Strengths: Price, very Bright, great contrast and draw speed.

Weakness: At angles, the color shifts quite a bit.

Wow! What a great deal for the price. I use it for both a monitor and my Xbox360 screen and it works great for both. Highly recommended! For $279.00, it's hard to get a decent 17" lcd, let alone a very nice 19" widescreen lcd rated at 1440x900. Great deal!
