samsung syncmaster 226bw

Strengths: easy set up - lots of good picture and good color

Weakness: looks to be wearing out early on

I have been using the monitor for almost 2 years and now both edges and the bottom are changing as though the glare coating is disappearing or something. It isn't real noticeable with darker screen but really stands out when you have light background. It really looks like it is wearing out. It is not in direct sun light or near any moisture. My son has a much cheaper monitor and it is not doing...

qustionable resolution

Strengths: The 226bw monitor has many strong points

Weakness: It is not ideal for drawings.

The Samsung 226bw monitor has a lot of strong points but if you work with graphics or drawings you might be disappointed with it’s resolution. My previous monitor was a Viewsonic vx900 and it would present a clear black line 20/100 of a point wide. The Samsung 226bw will only display a line 70/100 of a point wide. My printer will print a line that is 12/100 point wide or about 6 times narrower...

cheap and grandiose!

Strengths: bright colors, excellent contrast, default factory settings perfect for me and worth the €

Weakness: none worth mentioning here

This screen is big bang for the buck. Order online and you will pay cheaper than you would buying from your neighborhood's store, even with the manufacturer rebate. I did not have to change any of the settings, which was a nice plus, but most importantly, this screen just works in all lighting conditions. My desk is in a corner area where there can be from none to very bright back-lighting and...

Strengths: Crisp, bright colors. Great looking monitor.

Weakness: Blinking LED when in standby is annoying.

I bought this for my wife and now I wish it were mine. It makes my old Apple 20" cinema display look like a dinosaur. My only problem with it so far is that the blue power LED is quite bright and blinks annoyingly when in standby. If I leave the door to the office open at night, I can see the blinking light filling the hallway outside. It is a minor thing, I know.

Samsung 226bw - NOT for critical color work

Strengths: thin bezel, bright, lightweight

Weakness: severly limited viewing angle causes brightness and color change from top to bottom

For work that does not depend on critical color and brightness quality, this monitor is probably ok. It displays clear, sharp text, the backlight is even, and it gives a nice, bright image. The manual controls also give a reasonable amount of adjustment. 2 inputs (DVI & d-sub) are also helpful. But here is the caveat. This monitor is not suitable for color-critical work with photography or...
