2.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jul 29, 2011

The HP w1907 is the entry-level model in a series of monitors HP released in early 2007. The w1907 features a 19” widescreen display at a 16:9 aspect ratio, and a maximum resolution of 1440 x 900. This design makes the w1907 ideal for multimedia, including viewing video, photo editing and gaming. The contrast ratio is rated at 1000:1, meaning users will see distinct blacks and whites along with its 5-millisecond response time, which alleviates blurring with fast moving imagery. This monitor can display both digital and analog content using the DVI-D (with HDCP) or VGA port, respectively. Other features include two 2-watt integrated speakers and low energy usage with Energy Star compliance. Users looking for a larger screen should look at the other monitors in the series; the w2007 and the w2207h. Features monitor type: 19” diagonal widescreen Native resolution: 1440 x 900 @ 60 Hz contrast ratio: 1000:1 pixel ... PROS: (1) Stylish aesthetic, looks nicer than typical flat black models (2) Downloadable image adjustment software works well and is much easier than adjusting with buttons (3) High quality colour reproduction, especially for this price point (4) Text crispness is above average for this price ... CONS: (1) Monitor is set low on its stand and height cannot be adjusted (2) Integrated speakers are weak and sound tinny (3) Port locations are in awkward locations, very difficult to connect audio cables (4) Glossy finish produces noticeable glare

HP W1907 RIP
1 Star Review

Strengths: pic was ok

Weakness: speakers sucked, but only got 4 years out of ours.

Out of the box new to our system, got 4 years and dead. Screen went black, would come back then black again. Speakers never did work well. Have not had the best of luck with HP. I guess I expect more out of what we pay for.

Excellent Monitor
5 Star Review   By bobegods on HP - Apr 2, 2009

I purchased this monitor as part of an HP package about 8 months ago. I have had zero problems with it and the quality of the video display is incredible. In fact, I am getting ready to order another for a dual display. I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone.

Very Good Monitor
5 Star Review   By man48312 on HP - Feb 15, 2009

I have no issues with sound. I wonder if computer audio setting need to be adjusted. I would consider my speakers to work great and actually sound better than the ones I was using previously (Came with a computer I bought about 10 years ago.).

Great Monitor
4 Star Review   By KillaB1 on HP - Jan 1, 2009

The monitor is a bit price at first, but it's well worth your money. I had a bit of an issue installing the drivers on Windows XP, but when I upgraded to Windows Vista, it worked like a charm. It plays HD videos in 720p, and I'm very satified with the monitor. I would recommend this to anyone who watches TV/movies on their computer in HI-Def.

HP w1907 Monitor
4 Star Review

Strengths: Excellent display. Virtually sets itself up and has wonderful clarity.

Weakness: Internal speakers. You may need to get external speakers as the sound, even at its highest level possible, is only mediocre.

Worth the investment. I have recommended this monitor to several of my friends and recommend it to anyone, particularly those who desire a nice monitor for a modest price. I have been am HP user for many years and have not been disappointed in any of there products. I rated it 4 stars only because of the internal speakers.

An excellent upgrade from CRT!
5 Star Review   By Christophe on HP - Nov 16, 2008

My computer is a HPa613n which had a CRT monitor. It was time for an upgrade. This monitor probably had the best reviews. It was up and running in no time, with a very good picture on AVG cable. I bought a graphics card, am now using a DVI cable, enormous improvement! I gave performance a 4 star because I had to change from AVG to DVI cable, had to increase text size for easier reading, and downloaded clear-type tuning. I went to a retail store the other day and looked at their monitors, they could not compare with the bold looks of mine after the tweaking. Excellent clarity, easy reading, and to me, possibly the best monitor on the market!

Amazing but pricey
5 Star Review   By wrileys on HP - Sep 20, 2008

I got this screen when i bought my computer (bundle) and it worked fine but i use the computer a lot and kind of ran out of desktop room so i decided to get another screen preferably a second screen like this one, I had no idea that it was $200 when i got it because of the bundle, I looked it up because i'm having to use a 17" CTR monitor and it doesn't look so good, I was shocked to see that it was $200! At that price i can get dual screens for $150 but all in all if you want a good screen for gaming, videos, and more then this is the screen for you.

perfect for college students!
5 Star Review   By megan389 on HP - Aug 25, 2008

I've had this monitor for about a year now, and it has performed fantastically. It's perfect for college students like me who live in cramped dorm rooms because it is compact, functional, easy to transport and set up, and has included speakers. Its large screen space also makes it easy to do research, graphic design, or other multitasking with multiple windows open. I also love that the indented base can double as a tray for storing desk accessories.

great monitor
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Jul 29, 2008

This monitor is a great buy it has many features. For instance, you can adjust tilt for full view, options for what type of thing your doing such as watching a movie, looking at photos, gaming, text and custom of course. The Graphics are very clear and is appropriate for anything you plan to use it for .The speakers on it are low but who uses monitor speakers anyway, you should have speakers that plug into desktop anyways so you can really enjoy watching a movie or listening to music.

Sound is too low
4 Star Review   By misplaced on HP - Jul 3, 2008

The unit is a replacement for another flat screen that died. I liked the way the other screen adjusted because I have neck problems and that is an important feature for me. The unit is hooked up to a hp pavilion a500n so I'm not able to select the appropriate screen measurments. I had trouble adjusting the screen, finally tilted it forward and that was comfortable. The sound is too low, and I have trouble hearing videos. It may need servicing, but the unit is only a few months old, and I have never been happy with the sound. Other than that, nice handsome unit, w/clear bright pricture.

Awesome
5 Star Review   By Paa1 on HP - Jun 12, 2008

I bought this computer back in October, and have been extremely impressed with it's quality and performance. I used it with my Compaq desktop for a while with VGA, but I wanted to get the full experience so I bought a new graphics card and I now use the DVI-D and the colors are absolutely amazing. I'm thinking I might upgrade to the 20" model soon.

Very Good 19" LCD Monitor
4 Star Review   By member rusblue - May 29, 2008

Strengths: Well packaged. Connected , adjusted resolution and hit auto set , worked like a charm

Weakness: Speakers were ok - nothing to brag about

It's a much brighter and nicer screen. The video colors are vivid and has a stylish design. Text and images are very sharp which reduces or eliminate the eye fatigue experienced while working on non-TFT LCD monitors for long periods of time. Overall a pretty decent monitor.

Just bought this...
5 Star Review   By Sarahs on HP - May 15, 2008

and a custom laptop. I gave this monitor 5 stars all around. The screen quality is bright but not too bright. Amazing picture quality. Also, I am a gamer and the wide screen is perfect(It's more of a preference whether or not you like wide screen over regular). I am also a graphics artist and did not have any problems with viewing pictures. You can adjust the resolution perfectly. I can't wait to mount this on the wall! It's already such a space saver but I think it would be cooler. :] The only thing I would like to point out is, this monitor only moves up and down not side to side like the description stated. Doesn't really bother me much but also a preference thing.

It lacks too much
2 Star Review   By BewitchedFae on HP - May 2, 2008

I wouldn't recommend this item to anyone that does multimedia or graphic arts . It's too short in height and the sound is nonexistant. I have more than one HP monitor and this is surely the worst of the 4 I have . The blackness of it is definitely not a plus for those with impaired vision like myself , silver , pewter would be better color for a monitor it doesn't take away from your view . The best one that I have from HP is the HP vs17e front panel LCD monitor. It may be a little smaller but it does much more with color and sound .. If they would make a model that has what this one lacks then I'd say they have a real winner and I'd buy it for sure.

HP w1907 19-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor
4 Star Review   By Laidback on HP - Apr 21, 2008

Very nice monitor. Size and presentation is good to go. The design is really good. The stand is dished out and can serve as a holder for small items such as pens, etc. The only thing I do not care too much for is Vista constantly trying to update "HP - Other Hardware - HP w1907 Wide LCD Monitor, Download size: 60 KB" The monitor is a plug and play, so it loads and sets itself on every start up and the update always fails but is really not necessary anyway. Just a pain in the neck and irritating. It takes quite a bit of time to set itself up at each start up but that is not to annoying. The colors are really nice and is comfortable on the eyes. Sharp but not brash or offensive. Price is reasonable for this style and size monitor. Wish I had bought one of these a long time ago.

Nice........
5 Star Review   By metsfan on HP - Apr 1, 2008

I recently purchased an entire custom computer system through HP, (wonderful experience, by the way!) and I bought this monitor to go with it. I can honestly say I am thrilled that I did! The visual clarity is just stunning.... The colors are bright, crisp, and vivid -- overall, very pleasing to the eye. The ease in setting up a DVI-D connection was a plus, although the monitor came packaged with almost every kind of adapter or cable needed for whatever set up I decided to do. The monitor is both stylish and space saving, it tilts and swivels making it easier for others to see the screen. The BrightView technology makes things more pronounced and, well, bright. The 1440x900 maximum resolution makes my digital photos, scanned images/photos look their best, and gives flat panel TV quality when playing DVD's and other media. Documents are not 'muddy' looking --games are extremely clear with wonderful detail. In the short time I've had this monitor I have been very pleased.

Great Monitor not so great speakers
4 Star Review   By member savingeye - Mar 6, 2008

Strengths: Monitor, picture quality, rigid contruction

Weakness: Speaker system is subpar

Really like the product, however the integrated speaker is very tinny. Will not recommend if you are wanting to watch DVDs or use as a media entertainment. The monitor itself had great picture quality and resolution. For the price is a great purchase, specially if you are getting on a combo deal, but budget to get a speaker system to supplement your experience.

Awesome monitor, HP 19" LCD Monitor W1907
4 Star Review   By member dare_devil - Mar 6, 2008

Strengths: Good picture quality, nice contrast ratio, DVI input.

Weakness: No HDMI support, the stand could be designed better, the location of connection ports couldn't be worse.

I like the looks of the monitor. I am not a big fan of widescreen aspect ratio for PC. I am using it in 4:3 ratio so it's a waste some real estate. Looks like my PC does not support the native resolution of the monitor, therefore, the text is not as clear. However, when I hook it up to my laptop then the monitor performs a dot by dot scaling which looks amazing. i can't figure why it doesn't do the same with the desktop PC. I heard comments about the weak speakers but the sound is loud enough for a monitor. The monitor has it's separate volume control from your PC. May be that's the setting others users need to play with to crank up the volume. One think where HP fouled is the location of the connecting ports. It's hard as hell to get to the speaker port once the monitor is assembled.

Beautiful Display
4 Star Review   By member aceskull - Mar 1, 2008

Strengths: Great Perfomance, bright, gray to gray scale, no dead pixel

Weakness: stand

I love this LCD, it's 10x better than my old 17" LCD. The clarity of this LCD is really amazing. Gray to Gray to scale is better than most avg. LCDs. I hardly see any ghosting effects. Watching movies is really nice. I really recommend this LCD, the only thing I didn't like is the stand only pivots doesn't go up or down, otherwise its cool. 4 out of 5

Excellent Monitor
5 Star Review   By member ddtom50 - Jan 16, 2008

Strengths: Bright, clear images. Automatic screen adjusting, with the capabilities of changing them manually if you desire.

Weakness: None that I have found. Could use better instructions for assembly.

Compared this monitor to the others on display with the 19" screen. Had gone to the store with the intension of buying another brand. After comparing all the monitors on display, found this HP W1907 had a much clearer and brighter picture than the others. Found that speaker volume can be adjusted by changing the volume settings in your computer.

I love this monitor
4 Star Review   By member jfkimlinger - Sep 25, 2007

Strengths: Huge Great Resolution Clean picture

Weakness: Not really adjustable

I recently got this monitor and I fell in love with it the moment I hooked it up. I originally had a 17 inch monitor that was nice, but it didn't really wow me. Now that I upgraded, I regret waiting so long. I know there are bigger and better monitors out there, but for the price, this one is perfect for me. The resolution is clean and crisp. I really haven't had any complaints. I love looking at my picture collections and watching tv on it isn't too bad either. My only complaint is that I can't really adjust it. You can't really tilt the monitor up or down. Depending on where I have it set up, it can really be annoying when I can't adjust it. But, since that is my only complaint, not being able to adjust it isn't that bad.

Perfect (except for the speakers)
4 Star Review   By member deputystankus - Sep 25, 2007

Strengths: Awesome resolution Huge screen Flawless picture

Weakness: Weakest speakers ever Limited adjustability

I absolutely love this monitor. I got my HP w1907 as part of a bundle with the HP Pavilion Slimline S3120n. The Pavilion is mediocre, but the w1907 is great. I remember at the store I was like "my monitor at home is a flatscreen, and it's 17"--this can't be too much different." Once I got it out of the package and started using it, I realized that the difference is night and day. For one thing, my 3-year old Dell monitor has nowhere near the resolution: 1:1000. The refresh rate is 5 ms, and that can't be beat. I just can't understand why HP even bothered putting speakers on the w1907 if they weren't going to put usable speakers on them. I literally can't hear a DVD from more than 2 feet away from the monitor--at full volume! I realize most people will have external speakers to use, like I do, but again: why put the speakers on unless they're meant to be used. Finally, the stand for the w1907 is barely adjustable at all. It tilts up and down, a little, but that's it. No side to side, and it has a fixed height.

A beauty
5 Star Review   By member ikumar2000 - Aug 18, 2007

Strengths: Nice resolution, brightness and contrast

Weakness: Little shaky

When I showed this to my wife she wanted this only. Its very sleek and nice color combination for my desk. It has pretty good brightness and contrast ratio. The stand is such that you can slide in your keyboard esp any HP keyboard but works for others as well. It comes with a DVI cable. Its price is on little higher side.

great monitor!
5 Star Review   By member shangella - Jul 23, 2007

Strengths: clear and colorful!

Weakness: The power cord slips out of the screen sometimes...

Looks great! No ghosting when I play games. Very bright! the contrast is great. I watched some movies on it and it is great. Obviously it is difficult to find wallpapers that fit it's 1444x900 resolution.

as good as it gets
5 Star Review   By member RonC89 - Jun 25, 2007

Strengths: Bright, clear picture, good color rendition, good software.

Weakness: Haven't found any.

I've worked in Broadcast Television for many years, and for major networks as well, so you could say I've got a well trained eye. I've been jealous of the MAC users for some time with their bright, clear screens and that's what I was waiting for in a PC monitor. This one is aobut as good and has really made my life easier as its a rare day I don't spend at least 8 hours in front of it. I absolutely love it and highly recommend it. I plan to put this one on my business partners desk and buy the larger one for me!

Great In Performance & Looks
5 Star Review   By member steeky - Jun 11, 2007

Strengths: Very Bright & Clear, Sharp Pictures, Both DVI & Analog Inputs, Great Design

Weakness: 1 Year Only Warranty, No DVI cable included, Could be slightly pricey compared with monitors in its range.

This monitor comes through crisp, bright and clear. It's what we look for in an LCD flat panel. Especially in dark scenes is when this monitor comes out tops where you can still see details without the black areas becoming whitish. No dead pixels that I could see. Design wise, I find it is about one of the best in its category. Cool looks to go with performance. Would recommend this monitor anytime.
