Apple Thunderbolt Display
3.5 Star Review cnet.com - Sep 21, 2011

THE GOOD: The Apple Thunderbolt Display retains the gorgeous screen and features of the Apple Cinema Display. It adds Thunderbolt, FireWire, and Ethernet, while retaining compatibility with older, non-Thunderbolt Macs. THE BAD: The Thunderbolt Display is incompatible with Windows under any circumstance, and theres no native compatibility option with much older Macs. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Apple Thunderbolt Display is an incredible-performing and beautiful-looking monitor that gives up any Windows compatibility for a superfast connection.

Apple Thunderbolt Display
3 Star Review productwiki.com - Aug 16, 2011

The Apple Thunderbolt Display is essentially a 27" LED-LCD monitor that is meant to bridge the gap between mobile and desktop computing. The Apple Thunderbolt is specifically designed to work with Mac laptops including, but not limited to, the MacBook Air, Mac Mini and the MacBook Pro; of course it works with iMacs as well. The Apple Thunderbolt display features a native resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels combined with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 12ms total response time. The Thunderbolt also features a 1000:1 contrast ratio, a 16.7 million maximum color rating, a 375 cd/m2 brightness and a viewing angle of 178 degrees (horizontal) by 178 degrees (vertical). Additional features include an integrated FaceTime HD camera and microphone, integrated stereo speakers, and several peripheral ports (see features section below for a complete listing). What makes the Apple Thunderbolt display unique is the inclusion of an integrated Thunderbolt cable and a Universal ... PROS: (1) Price tag might look daunting, but when you consider the price of 27" IPS monitors from Dell (Ultrasharp series) and the secondary features that the Thunderbolt display offers, its a solid deal (2) High resolution, 2560x1440 is as high as the come for a consumer product, great for photo editing and graphic professionals, and the serious multi-taskers (3) Includes a host of other features such as HD webcam, 2.1 speaker system (pretty much non-existent), and the ever popular mag-safe A/C connection (4) By using the Thunderbolt connection, the single connection enables the monitor to be used as a USB hub, users can also connect firewire 800 devices and gigabit ethernet through the monitor (5) Excellent viewing angles and accurate colours with the high quality LED backlit IPS panel ... CONS: (1) Not as adjustable as the Ultrasharp series, no pivot and swivel (2) Thunderbolt connection severely limits what the monitor can be connected to, incompatible with Mac computers without Thunderbolt (3) high price point - the cost of an entry level Mac laptop (4) limited connectivity options vs. similarly priced and specd displays from the likes of Dell and HP - only a single input (5) USB hub is only 2.0
