Economic Monitor
4 Star Review   By member etipi - Jul 29, 2006

Strengths: Cheap

Weakness: No Height adjustment

Price of this monitor is very good compared to the other brands. The stand is not adjustable according to your viewing preferences. You need a good video card that supports 1920 X 1200 resolution and has a DVI output. The monitor includes the DVI cable which is good because you do not need to buy the cable separately. The response time is same as the other monitors on the market at higher prices and smaller screens. I recommend this monitor if you need a budget 24" monitor.

Excellent LCD for gamers!
5 Star Review   By member iSalon - Jul 21, 2006

Strengths: cheap price, fast respond time, bright screen

Weakness: So far no

I had always wanted an LCD monitor for playing the cool games out there. The 24" Acer AL2416W does this quite nicely for the price. The large bright screen, which I run at 30% brightness, does a great job. Shadowed areas in games are easily definable. Fast action games show no lag or ghosting on this screen. Colors are vibrant and true, many high compliments about this screen. Non-Native resolutions actually look good when viewing text. Second thoughts. In general it goes well with my XPS!

Strengths: Large display 24" DVI-D and VGA input 6 ms response time 3 years warranty

Weakness: No found yet

The price is still a bit high. But, with all that features. I think is worth while. Especially, the 24" display, the DVI-D input and the 3 years warranty.

Great Size and Great Price
4 Star Review   By member Saitoh2319 - Jun 27, 2006

Strengths: - Bright and large display - Price is the best around for this size

Weakness: - Warranty isn't the best

If your looking for a large LCD to play games or surf the internet then this is it. I recommend this to anybody who wants a lot of multimedia functionality. For the price and size you can not go wrong.

Great Display, Awesome Buy
5 Star Review   By member hobbes35 - May 30, 2006

Strengths: Large ( as in HUGE) Display, Great Resolution, Great Response time.

Weakness: Almost too big. Not very customizable.

I've had this monitor for about two weeks now and am still not used to the size of it. It's very bright, I had to take the brightness down to about 15% and it's definitely "no frills" when it comes to controls, but dollar for dollar you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal out there. I've played Quake 4 and Rise of Nations/Rise of Legends on it using a Radeon X700 and it performs like a champ with no ghosing whatsoever. I've read about lag with these size monitors but I didn't notice any lag with Q4...but then again, I'm not exactly a champion fragger so maybe they see something I don't. I do have to say that the sheer size of the display is almost too big for comfortable gaming if you're set up in a normal desktop environment. I noticed that I was actually moving my head slightly when playing Q4 and my eyes definitely get a work out with it, but I wouldn't trade it for any other monitor I've seen yet.

Basic versatile fast WS 24 inch monitor
5 Star Review   By member bobprice - May 20, 2006

Strengths: Clean design. No bold company logo. Decent refresh rate, 6ms G2G, for gaming. Tilt. Dual input (DVI-D and VGA) so I can occasionally use it for TV viewing.

Weakness: None yet!!!

Manual is one page. Doesn't describe how to adjust attitude (RGB). It looked like it was an optional inadjustable link but after a little poking I was able to switch from cold to warm. The brightness was giving my brain-injured head spikes. -even after turning the brightness down. Warm is much better. Played Tombraider Legend, which has a WS setting and it was smooth beautiful and warm. The lack of height adjustment was easily solved with a couple of cedar 2x4s. I looked around quite a while for a WS 24 or 23 monitor. The screen seems to have the same specs as the Samsung 244T but for almost 1/2 the cost.

Should Come With Sunglasses
5 Star Review   By member timguba - Mar 6, 2006

Strengths: SUPER bright display, awesome resolution, great size, great price.

Weakness: Fixed stand height

I couldn't believe how bright this monitor was. In order to use it without squinting, I had to turn the brightness down to 25%. Text is razor sharp, graphics are crisp and clean as I am using the DVI connection instead of the VGA connection. There is very little "ghosting" on rapidly moving images - not quite as good as a traditional CRT display, but still very good nonetheless. With the wide format, I can display 2 full pages of text side by side, movies are a treat to watch on this monitor. I can only imagine what a dual monitor setup with this monitor would be like - dr001! After using it for 6 weeks, I just now noticed ONE dead pixel and it's really barely noticeable. The only gripe I have, and it's a teeny one, is the lack of height adjustment on the monitor stand. The tilt adjustment is fine, but the height is fixed. Overall, a very sweeeeet monitor at a great price.

Great Monitor!
5 Star Review   By member sldell - Mar 3, 2006

Strengths: Wonderful size--almost too big--contrast and brightness is second to none. No dead pixels. Both DVI and VGA inputs. Excellent build quality.

Weakness: No height adjustment which should be standard for this type of price. No additional A/V inputs. No speakers.

Acer decided with this monitor to concentrate on a no frills, performance-first display. And they accomplished just that! Lots of screen real estate, beautiful picture quality, accurate representation of colors, no ghosting, excellent response time. I found it especially good for watching DVDs. Renders text very clearly; web pages never looked better. It takes some getting used to in games since the screen is so big. But you will not be disappointed in this monitor. If you are looking for lots of extras like multiple video-in jacks, card readers, USB ports, etc., then the Dell or HP equivlents will probably be better. However, if your video card has VIVO capability, you basically don't need additional A/V ports. Also make sure you get the model which has both DVI and VGA connecters because there is a version with VGA only, yet it costs about the same.

6ms response time? Is this for real?
5 Star Review

Strengths: Specs, Picture Quality, All the I/O needfull for this user, no pixel problems at all,Running 1920 X 1200 on DVI, Geforce 3 TI500, All in All fits like a glove & hums like a Hemi at this Price Point.

Weakness: None for this user.

Have not had any ghosting, as would be expected at this spec, brightness, contrast & font sharpness excell! Oustounded by Image quality, last year made first Acer purchase which was the Acer Ferrari 4005WLMi which was really sweet & had contemplated picking up the new Ferrari F-20 Monitor, but I am really glad I went with the AL2416Wd's extra inches & resolution, less than $800. how low will they go, lol!
