Logitech MX700
5 Star Review   By SH on Mwave.com - Jan 8, 2007

Strengths: Extremely comfortable, many user friendly controls.

Weakness: A little loose in charger.

This is a great mouse. Wireless freedom, comfortable and great buttons. Scroll fast, flip back and forth on web pages, cruise control, bring up open windows. I have had this for years and love it. I also have it's corded cousin the mx 500, another great mouse.

MX700 cordless
1 Star Review   By member rpg2006 - Jan 10, 2006

Strengths: The weight and shape actually feel very good, once you get used to it.

Weakness: The buttons have failed on mine after only 3 months use. Charger is hit'n'miss, driver support especially for x64.

I like the weight and shape of this mouse. Very nice. Had a lot of problems though. No x64 drivers specifically for this model, which I think is short-sighted. Placing the mouse in the charger can be a real mission. Sometimes I have to repeat the exercise around 20 or so times, from various angles until I actually get a charge. Not something you should expect for this price. Big failure is that my buttons have now failed. The left button either double clicks, instead of single click on occasion or doesn't click at all. The same for the right button. Cannot find email contact details, so looks like I have to phone overseas for support. In conclusion I am very dissappointed. Logitech have always been a reputable company, but it seems this is not the case of late.

Strengths: Works flawlessly. Fits nicely in my hand. Has extra buttons for programming. Smooth scroll.

Weakness: Rechargeable batteries are great but I've got to remember to put the mouse back in its charger when done.

I bought this one for work. I have two at home that I've been using for a year. This works about as well as a mouse can be expected to. I use it for gaming and it works great. I would recommend this to anyone.

Amazing Mouse
4 Star Review   By member manu08 - Nov 7, 2005

Strengths: Good battery life...Very accurate

Weakness: Sometimes the additional buttons stop working..

I've been using this mouse for a lil over a year now. Been working very well actually. Better than my previous logitech wireless mouse, much better. It works on all surfaces, is smooth, precise & well I find the extra buttons very convenient. Now (Nov, 2005) however I believe you could get a better mouse. One using laser technology probably. If your not into getting one of those brand new ones, I would certainly recommend this mouse, I play a lot of games & this mouse has been terrific.

Logitech charging station goes first
2 Star Review

Strengths: Mouse works great. I love the freedom from wires.

Weakness: Charging station goes first. I have to use regular AA or buy a another recharger.

I noticed that I was having to recharge batteries more often, so I bought new batteries. Charging station will not even charge the new batteries. Mouse still works great but just can't recharge the batteries. I will have to invest in a separate charger or buy disposable batteries. Charging station emits a red flashing light or no light at all.

3 Star Review   By member kenmitchell - May 24, 2005

Strengths: Easy to recharge, freedom from the cord, easy to install

Weakness: Much heavier than traditional corded mouse. Don't forget to set in charging unit at night or your stuck

I would love to have a cordless mouse that wasn't so heavy. I know, I know, you can't have everything, well we'll see. Be sure to have a back up corded to plug in for when you forget to charge overnight. Happened to me "one time". If you're in the middle of a job and cordless dies, you're stuck without a backup. Recharges pretty quick, but not if you've got deadlines. Not quite as precise as the Logitech corded, prob. due to the fact it's cordless and so heavy. Haven't tried gaming.

Weakness: Left-hand use disallowed!

Left-handers beware! Logitech has taken upon itself to dis-allow switching the left and right buttons to allow comfortable left-hand use. DON'T BUY LOGITECH IF YOU'RE LEFT-HANDED!!

Strengths: wireless, accurate, rechargable. Multiple buttons make work or games more easy

Weakness: not for left hands.

This mouse works great for me. Last about a week with heavy use on a single charge. If used on a good surface; super accurate. Some say that it gets jitters, but this is only when using on a shiney surface, which the instructions even mention. Works great for me in all games, and is very reliable. WHen the batteries are about to die you get a warning about a day in advance. The poeple who get a poor battery life probabally did not charge the mouse properly and damaged the batteries. True it's just a mouse, but going by the other reviews here it looks like many poeople dont read the instuctions that come with it. A good purchase!

Logitech MX 500
4 Star Review   By member espeanage - Nov 1, 2004

Strengths: Comfortable, thumb buttons, wireless, base/charger

Weakness: Silver finish wears off on left & right buttons

This is the best mouse purchase that I have had to date. I've had this mouse for about a year and two months. It is very comfortable and the thumb buttons are a great feature for browsing and gaming. The battery life lasts about a week of normal usage or about two weeks with light usage, which I believe is acceptable considering the fast wireless communication. As a gamer, the extra buttons allow extra shortcuts/keybindings for gaming. The cruise control buttons at the top and bottom of the scrollwheel cannot be reconfigured in some games however. The response time is more than acceptable for fps games. A small downside is that the weight of the mouse may cause stress on the hand. It depends on the user, but for me it did a little. Another downside is that after having using the mouse for over a year, the silver finish for the left and right mouse buttons have worn off. Also, I rarely use the quickswitch button at the bottom of the scrollwheel because it is hard to reach. Overall, I am very pleased with this mouse and I believe that it will be reliable for years to come.

Strengths: Wireless,Stylish looks,Recharger,Great tracking,

Weakness: Logitech Drivers,Righthanded only,

First off the mouse it self looks awesome with a great black and silver colour scheme and curves ;) the left and right mouse buttons are built in the base of the mouse but it is very natural when clicking them it dosen’t feel forced like some do. It has 8 programmable buttons left and right click, the wheel button and two buttons above and below the wheel incase you don’t want to use the wheel to scroll. Near to the middle is the application switch button which acts like the ctrl-alt-tab shortcut to move between programs. To the left are the thumb buttons which by default are the back and forward buttons (handy in the web)  The first time you get it you will have to recharge the battery’s which takes about 2 hours (if your using the included receiver). Then when charged it’s just a matter of pressing the connect button on the receiver and the connect button on the mouse windows xp came up with detected and it was working fine a very easy setup. The mx700’s receiver doubles as a charger which is handy to place the mouse on at night and let it charge back up to full. The included batterys on average lasted me around 2 and a half days of course your milage may vary on what you do. They can be easily replaced if needed. Personally I didn’t like the Logitech drivers they were not perfect for games esp with setting up buttons. If you was using this more for gaming I’d recommend to stick with the default ones that windows installs. But if you use this for work a lot you may like the additional functions the drivers provide (programmable buttons) I’ve tested this in many game like twitch speed fps and ones where you need to use accuracy more and it passed with flying colours I honestly coulden’t believe this was wireless it’s tracking is very accurate and very responsive. Also you get the benefit of not having a cable tugging on the end of the mouse. There are only some minor problems I see with this mouse. One is that when the mouse isn’t been used it goes into power saving mode and there can be a very slight delay when moving the mouse for it to use full power again but this is really minor. Also by using the default windows drives you will lose some functionality of the mouse but I’d first recommend trying the windows drivers and then the Logitech to see which you like more. And last is that this mouse is only for right handers (being left handed myself writing)and glad ;) I can know what a big pain this is for them not to support the rest of the market, I use my right hand for mouses but it would still be nice to see a version for left handers. The added weight of the battery’s will make it heavier than your average mouse, some might like the added weight I find it helps my accuracy. it has replaced my wired mouse permenantly it’s great in games and also great for general desktop use. And it comes with rechargeables so you never have to worry about buying battery’s again ;) Overall the mx700 features great looks accurate tracking and built in recharger. Its non perfect drivers let it down slightly also there should be a lefthanded version but other than that i fully reccommend the mx700 best wireless mouse i've used so far.

Strengths: No Cord

Weakness: none, other than if you are not a patient person willing to take a few seconds to make sure the mouse is placed in the charger correctly, this is not the mouse for you!

The MX 700 Replaced my Microsoft Optical Blue Mouse which I have been using for about a year. I am retired and use my mouse almost continuously playing computer games. After turning off my PC, it was simple to hook up the Charger to my PC and activate the MX 700 mouse. I tried the mouse on my desk pull out where I had been using the other Microsoft Optical mouse and it worked too good, it seemed like it was "More" responsive". I tried it out on some papers on my desk top and it still worked good. The only diference between these two mice is the cord. I had been having trouble with the cord of the Microsoft Optical Mouse and when you leave your desk, "Make sure to place the MX700 mouse in the Charger" and wiggle it a little if the "Green Light" does not come on.

Strengths: Comfortable in my hand!

Weakness: None so far!

Wow, what a fantastic mouse! I went from corded, to cordless with a ball, to now optical. I wanted the best as I was tired of messing around with lesser quality mice. This is FANTASTIC! Fast! Comfortable! Self-charging! Programmable buttons! Goodbye wires, goodbye mousepad, goodbye alcohol swabs, hello freedom! I think it's very lightweight in comparison with generic mice, and compared to Microsoft products. Fits my hand like a glove. The 2-minute installation was a breeze. Thank you, Logitech, for an awesome product!

Weakness: Umm, None That I Can Think Of

Awesome Mouse, can't even tell that it is wireless, other than the fact that I don't always have a stupid wire in the way. Highly reccomend this mouse. I can't believe I went all these years with out one.

Strengths: Works better than I expected, long battery life, even works with a standard KVM switch.

Weakness: Can be a little heavy for some.

I purchased this mouse with the desire to get rid of the most annoying wire of all of the wires on my computer system and I am very happy with the results. This mouse works very similar to a regular wired mouse, with the same speed and sensitivity. One worry for me was if this mouse would not work with my standard KVM switch. I did not want to buy an expensive USB KVM switch just to use a wireless mouse. To my excitement, works very well through a regular PS/2 port on the KVM switch and only one button, that I would never use anyway, does not function. Very happy with this purchase.

Strengths: Great feel and response. Buttons are easily accessable and the wheel turns like Proud Mary! Battery charging is a snap.

Weakness: So far, none.

Love the invisible single and right clickers & auto scroll buttons. Also happily own a Logitech trackball, so I'm sold on the Logitech technology. I work in graphics and word processing and both the trackball and MX700 work very well, no matter what kind of work I'm doing. I am a Mac owner since 1987, so I've known good and bad mice. This new baby is the best so far.

Strengths: Cool Design. Fits fine in hand. Many programmable buttons.

Weakness: Connection with charger base does not always connect.

The main problem I have with this mouse has to do with charging it. Phyisical connection with the base is difficult. I have to move the mouse with precision to find the right spot where it actually charges. Even a single move on my desk and the connection is lost.

Strengths: Wireless & Ergonomic Design, Charging station, Extra Internet buttons, tracking accuracy

Weakness: Right-hand only use

This Optical Wireless Mouse is just a joy to behold. With the recharging station there are no batteries to purchase, the additional Internet specific buttons make web navigation a breeze, tracking accuracy is at the top of the list, and the ergonomic feel makes extended use easy on the wrist. I highly recommend this Wireless Optical Mouse to anyone, it has so many Pros that you can't go wrong in purchasing it. With the price dropping it's an even better buy now then when I purchased it months ago. Do yourself a favor, get this mouse.

Still going strong....
4 Star Review   By member Ergolad - Sep 14, 2003

Strengths: Ergonomic design, recharging station, battery life, wireless response, tracking accuracy & extra buttons.

Weakness: Price. Righty only. Not available as a combo with an ergonomic keyboard. Set up. Keep base station away from other devices. I found incoming calls on my cell phone threw the mouse's tracking off.

As my entree into the world of wireless input devices, I'd have to say I'm pretty happy. I was originally in the market for a ergonomic keyboard/mouse combo, but I couldn't find a set that came with a fully featured mouse. All the wireless options, MS or Logitech, came with standard 3 button mice. I think the MS Bluetooth came with what I was looking for but was way out of my price range, & the reviews weren't inspiring confidence. Seeing as my current keyboard wire wasn't bothering me, I opted to stick with that & invest my $$$ in the MX700. Installation went fine. I was a bit baffled by how they expect you to use the mouse to install the software when the mouse itself is not yet installed. I used keyboard shortcuts and that worked fine. I assume you could leave your old PS2 mouse connected, or if I had experimented I might have found that the mouse was functioning, just not with all its features. Either way, I'm not reading any other complaints, so I assume I just overcomplicated the issue. The software came with a bunch of extras. I assume most people will be satisfied with a bare minimum install or downloading the most recent drivers from Logitech. I went for the whole mess, played the games for a little while and ultimately ended up disabling most everything but the basic driver software. I found the default settings a bit to snappy for my taste, but adjusted them easily to my liking. So far, HAPPY with my purchase!

Strengths: Fast, steady, heavy, customized buttons.

Weakness: The ac adapter should have been plugged in directly to the base of the charger, instead of the usb. It would have given the charger a longer cord range.

I enjoy this mouse. I use it for business purposes. The customizable buttons allow me to navigate rapidly through the multiple apps i run on a daily basis. I would recommend this mouse to you. Casnrcs

Strengths: Very smooth and accurate. It fits well in your hand, and has great features

Weakness: A little heavy

I just purcahsed this mouse the other day and hooked it up. I play alot of FPS type games and this mouse ROCKS!!! I have had no response problems or any problems with the functionality of the extra buttons. This mouse is far better than the wired optical mouse that I was using in both feel and accuarcy. I didn't install the inclosed software suite after reading other reviews on how it was not up to snuff. I may check the Logitech website and see if they have an updated version. I highly recommend this mouse to anyone who is in the market for a new mouse. It is a little high in price, but it is well worth the extra money.

Strengths: Excellent response, wireless of course which is a great plus, sleek design, well placed buttons (with one exception)

Weakness: None-some may say the price but I picked it up for 49.99 on sale at Office Max

Best mouse I've had and the first jump I made to wireless, has not let me down yet, the first problem I ever had (which was simple to rectify) was I suddenly noticed a jitter in the movement. Turns out when I hooked up my new 5.1 logitech speakers one of them was too close to the base. So I pulled a user error by not paying attention. I moved my charger base about 5 inches above where it was and regained excellent response. I play all my games from Unreal Tournament 2003, Jedi Knight, Battlefield 1942/Road to Rome/Desert combat on this sucker with no lag in response. Works like a dream and unlike others I've managed to have all the buttons work for me on games. Also good advice that you do NOT want to install the drivers on the CD logitech supplies. I heard it screws it royal. When I first bought the mouse I hooked it up to my comp that was running Mellinium and it installed all the buttons automatic minus the switch programs one. (which I never use anyways) But on XP it installed them all perfectly from its own database of drivers. So your good to go without worrying with install their supplied disc. Highly recommended.

Strengths: Awesome mouse. The only mouse i would suggest for the die-hard gamer. Precision, accuracy, comfort, and convenience (charging station - damn, it's nice to save money on batteries!)

Weakness: NONE!!! (except for maybe the price, i work at compusa and i still paid $61, on discount !!!)

To all those out there who claim to be true gamers and complain about this mouse and it's ability to program the buttons for use in games, i have this to say: you are full of sh** !!! I play, for the most part, fps (first person shooters) and this is the most accurate mouse i've ever had the pleasure of using, wired included. I'll admit the price is steep, but for the benifits you recieve (wireless, optical, and the most precise mouse on the market) it is well worth the money. Too all those out there who want to defect to microsoft's mice, i have this to say: you are full of sh**. I have $8500 in microsoft stock, so obviously i want them to succeed, but if you really care about gaming, and the freedom of cordless, you know that this is only mouse a true gamer would use. Props to logitech for creating the most advanced (and most expensive) mouse i've ever encountered!!!

Strengths: -Good Tracking -Great form factor -Fantastic Buttons & Layout

Weakness: -Heavier than the MX500

I originally picked up the MX500 for my laptop, but then I ended up using it on my desktop as well. I saw a good price on the 700 and bought it. FANTASTIC. Wireless mice are nice as is, but wireless + the buttons of the MX500 is fantastic. The other reviews don't give the MX's 8 buttons enough credit. They are GREAT. Also, the included application does let you customize them. From others it seems that the buttons don't work for games. Not an issue for me :-)

Strengths: Optical(never go back), wireless(ditto), Idle Beauty, ease of installation, ease of use, and dame well feeling good about having the coolest mouse on the block.

Weakness: Tracking(on some surfaces), Buttons for Gaming Issue (not for long), and we must not forget that microsoft eliminated the charges station in there models.

I dont care what anyone says about his mouse. It is by far the coolest investment in the past year. At first i did not belive that this mouse could preform better than a corded but in deperation i decided to trust technology(as i always do). Its like glideing on ice, yes it dones not track well on granular surfaces(as i have tested). But when the proper surface is present and (Mouse skates) are added it is magically superb to anything i have ever used. Although the issue with gaming support for buttons is a rather tradgedy im sure logitech will not let that stand for long considering it is the "NUMBER 1" cordless mouse available. Also this mouse is there most advanced model, and im sure they do not want to loose consumers over such a repairable issue. Like it or not people(gamers) will not accept a mouse that is not programmable in game, and therefore until fixed will continue as inferior to perfect. But it has givin me no problems and its beauty sitting in the charger is so uniqe that i honestly dont care.

Strengths: Great tracking no matter what the first review said i think he needs to stop eating the mushrooms that grow in his backyard

Weakness: None that i really see. i've gotten it to work from 20 feet away. well maybe the drivers the 9.70 don't let the wheel work and the 9.75 don't let the other buttons work so use 9.70 and TweakUI

Great mouse i didn't like the batteries so i replaced them and i get 2 days before i ever get half way down on the batteries not heavy as others seem to think i think its a great mouse

Strengths: charger built-into receiver base, 8-buttons, cool look, smooth scrolling wheel

Weakness: weak battery life, incompatible drivers, bad-tracking, doesn't work well on light-colored surfaces

I read alot of good things about this mouse and believed the hype so I bought one. However, I have been GREATLY disappointed and will be returning this for the MS Intellimouse Explorer Wireless. The tracking on this rodent is TERRIBLE!! I returned my first unit thinking it might have been a defect but the same thing occurs with my second unit and this one will be going back too. When you move the mouse slowly, it gets "jittery" in place which is really annoying when you are trying to do accurate & slow movements like in drawing. In addition, the Logitech drivers are horrible and actually render many of the extra buttons on the mouse useless in a number of applications. I've read many reviews saying that this is a common problem and that Logitech is working on it. If you do buy this mouse, you are better off not installing the Logitech drivers as most of the buttons work fine natively in Windows XP. Well, tomorrow, I'll be exchanging this for the Microsoft mouse which will be mostly likely more functional (MS hardware+MS software=no software compatiblity quirks)and accurate, ie, no jittering when moving slowly.

Strengths: Quick charging on Rapid Charge Base

Weakness: The Extra buttons are not confortable to use No other weaknesses

I bought this mouse for about US$80. Although a little pricey, it does worth its price. I place the rapid charge base very near to my mouse and the high DPI of the mouse makes using the mouse fun and smooth. It's much better when compared to the two other Logitech wireless mouse I am still using. I am using three sets of wireless products from Logitech and the great news is they all work together without any problems! The mouse is really smooth when you use it. You will feel how nice it is everytime you use it! I bought this mouse to replace my old Microsoft Explorer mouse. I highly recommend everyone to buy it! I rate it 5 stars!

Strengths: great feel, handles well, rechargeball, wireless, works great

Weakness: many games won't support all buttons

the only flaw is that you can't use all the buttons in older games (older being about 1 year ago or more). If you get this mouse, download the updated driver and you can use MOST of the buttons in games but not all. That I find to be unnacceptable. Although the buttons are shortcuts and make browsing the web a little faster but c'mon. Browsing the web is easy and doesn't really require 60 buttons (exaggerating). The real reason people want a whole lot of buttons on a mouse is for gaming, so the buttons better work. You can also try some workarounds where you bind pageup or something to the buttons that won't work in games, but guess want. That still doesn't work in all games. Works find in internet explore but not aliens vs predator 2. The real reason that urks me so much is cuz it costs $60 bucks. Come on Logitech. Other than that though it's a great mouse.

Strengths: Speed and sleek appearance. Battery charger integrated with receiver.

Excellent mouse with an eye-catching look! Rechargeable batteries, multiple buttons and ease of use are most prominent features. A nice touch is the 'unseen' left and right buttons and they have a great tactile feel. It is well worth the price. Kudos to Logitech.

Weakness: Can't figure out what to feed it ? Won't eat swiss or american ..

Great mouse , but you get what you pay for. But if you are looking for a heavy duty all around mouse , spend it and get it ... :-)

Strengths: Recharging base station, optical, coordless

Definitely the best mouse I have ever used. It is very comfortable, and also very good looking. With the internet navigation buttons (which can easily be reprogrammed to be, such as I have, copy and paste) this mouse definitely has great flexibility. What I like is how the "click" sound when the buttons are pressed has been nearly silenced. After millions of clicks, that gets annoying. You can also program a button to be a double-click button. This means no more double-clicking! ;) Very highly reccamended by me.

Strengths: Cordless/optical. Very percise. Lots of buttons. Glides very smoothly over the desk surface.

Weakness: Logitech drivers.

While it is true that the drivers don't work well in games, you can simply program the mouse buttons to keyboard function key. This will allow you to use all the buttons in gaming. Also, Logitech will correct this issue in upcoming driver release.

Strengths: The base station charger, and mouse do fine in windows applications.

Weakness: This mouse, and logitechs software ARE NOT MEANT for gamers.

Logitechs software does not use standard mouse functions, therefore you have to enable several workarounds to even get the mouse to respond in direct X multiplayer online games. Completely unhappy about that, other then that its fine. But if your a hard core gamer, this mouse isn't for you, you can't get logitechs software to use the extra buttons in games. :( If your a gamer, go with the Microsoft Explorer, much, much better, and they wonder why microsoft is a monopoly... because it knows how to make things work, unlike its competitors. :)

Weakness: None I can see.

Logitech did it again, came out with a great product. Ease of use, great looking and it recharges great feature. I love the whole idea and I love the ease of setting up and use. A++++++++++++++++ Go buy it.
