Logitech Gaming Mouse G500
4 Star Review  cnet.com - Sep 8, 2009

THE GOOD: All of the same features we love about the older G5 Laser Mouse; dual-mode scroll wheel; onboard memory stores custom profiles; requisite, ludicrously high sensor DPI maximum. THE BAD: Competing Microsoft mouse in the same price range offers a different set of compelling features. THE BOTTOM LINE: Theres quite a lot to like about Logitechs new Gaming Mouse G500, but with a competing mouse from Microsoft offering its own set of features, gamers now have some choices to make. The G500 will appeal to performance-driven shooter fans. The choice is less clear for other kinds of PC gamers.

Logitech Gaming Mouse G500
3 Star Review  productwiki.com - Nov 19, 2009

The Logitech G500 is a mid-range, laser gaming mouse. The mouse features a laser sensor with a resolution of 5700dpi, providing the above-average precision gamers need. The G500 also features onboard memory, preserving settings for use with more than one computer. Extra weights enable fine-tuning of the mouses total weight and weight distribution, while sensitivity can be adjusted to optimize either speed or precision. Similarly, the dual-mode scroll wheel combines the precision of click-to-click functionality with the speed of hyper-fast scrolling. Additionally, the G500 includes ten programmable buttons, customizable using free software. Features 5700dpi laser tracking Weight tuning (up to 27 g) Dual-mode scroll wheel Adjustable sensitivity 10 programmable buttons Internal settings storage 4.19m/s maximum speed ... PROS: (1) 10 programmable buttons (2) ergonomic shape and placement of buttons, comfortable in the hand (3) high resolution laser sensor - 5700dpi, more than double the last generation G5 (4) customizable weighting system (5) 1000Hz polling rate ... CONS: (1) ugly (2) for right-handed users only (3) only 8KB of onboard storage, enough room for a single profile only (4) DPI race is silly - shows no real life improvements over 2000dpi (5) lacks Logitechs latest Darkfield laser technology

Best Performance For The Price
5 Star Review   By Gamertothemax on HP - Mar 10, 2012

If you are in the market for a gaming or performance mouse, this is one you need to check out. The best feature for me is the 5700DPI so I can move across the screen in a snap. I got this as an improvement over my Razer Abyssus and have no regrets. For those who are users of macro keys, which is being able to do other functions other than clicks from a mouse, this is great as it has 10 extra buttons for such functions. Along with that, the hyperscrolling feature is great when I have to go through a long web page and click a link that is far from the top. Over all, this mouse is top when it comes to the button placement and features with it. The one downside to this is that it can only store one macro set at a time so people with multiple setups might need to get one of the newer versions with more memory. In my use with the mouse, I have encountered little hand/arm fatigue with it. Caution though to those who are left-handed/southpaw. This mouse is designed for right handed people so you might be better off with the MX Anywhere or some other more ambidextrous/left-handed design. Since I am right-handed, I have no qualms about this. My final note is the weight cage which is funky to pop out but it is great for those who need the extra weight in a mouse. I found it useful in games where I wanted top movement speed but enough weight to stop myself from going too far. You can put a maximum of 27g (roughly 1 wt oz) in the cage or can opt to not use it at all. With my $25 store coupon, this purchase was even better and I highly recommend this device to people looking for a high grade mouse for a pretty cheap price.
