Apple Magic Mouse
3 Star Review  cnet.com - Oct 21, 2009

THE GOOD: Sexy design; vertical scrolling works like a physical scroll wheel; pairs easily with Mac computers; ambidextrous. THE BAD: Awkwardly narrow profile; doesnt work with Windows PCs; laser sensor not as advanced as Darkfield and BlueTrack competition; horizontal swipes dont feel as natural as thumb buttons; cant customize swiping functions; no pinching. THE BOTTOM LINE: Apples new wireless Magic Mouse gets a sleek makeover and even has multitouch controls, but its better as a portable laptop companion rather than a full-size desktop accessory. The swiping gestures add interactivity to Web browsing and media, but the awkwardly narrow single button design leaves us reaching for better mice from Logitech and others.

Apple Magic Mouse
3 Star Review  productwiki.com - Oct 28, 2009

The new iMac comes with the Magic Mouse, which is wireless and works almost like the touch pad of a laptop. It is one big button and is touch-sensitive, with the capabilities of Apple’s laptop touch pads. It even has multitouch controls. Scroll up and down on Web sites by dashing your finger up and down on the top of the mouse. Scroll through screens in Safari or iPhoto by swiping two fingers left to right. Hold down the Control key and scroll with one finger to zoom in or out the screen. However, the Magic Mouse takes a little bit of getting used to. It is difficult to keep the mouse in place, particularly when swiping with two fingers. It is also rather narrow and doesnt work with Windows PC and the functions are non-customizable. But it pairs easily with Macs and is ambidextrous. Features: Movement detection technology: laser 2 alkaline batteries installed Connectivity technology: wireless Orientation: right and left ... PROS: (1) multi-touch capable touch surface - utilizes figure gestures just like an Apple trackpad (2) no scroll wheel - wont break, easy to clean (3) attractive aesthetic (4) ambidextrous design (5) four month battery life ... CONS: (1) Does not come with rechargable battery. Have to replace the AAs. (2) short and narrow - difficult to use comfortably (designed with aesthetics in mind rather than ergonomics) (3) When hand is sweaty is hard to sweep finger across it. (4) not compatible with operating systems other than Mac OSX (5) no side buttons

I love this mouse. I wish the design a bit more conventional at times, but honestly, I probably just need to get used to it. It works beautifully.

As a regular mouse, the Magic Mouse works well for clicking, vertical scrolling. It is not very comfortable when swiping left or right with the fingers. You have to hold the mouse steady to keep it from sliding while swiping. I use it in conjunction with

Works terrific on a mouse paid and works best with the newer os systems, snow leopard or lion. Won't work with tiger.
