The original replacement battery for my laptop was discontinued and therefore, I got the upgraded version of the 9 cell Li. Rather expensive, but worth the cost and extended battery life.

6 hours on power saver!!!!
3 Star Review   By falconhunter on HP - Jun 13, 2012

everybody says that the battery is awful because it only last for 30 min to 1 hr. it does that because you cant have the screen brightness jacked up all the way your brightness has to be on a lower setting like on power saver mode then it will last about 6 hours.

Poor functioning capabilities. This battery did not last at long as I was told. I was told the battery had a 5hr life. The battery lasted for only an hour and a half, when running on battery power only.

6 Cell Battery
5 Star Review   By preservation on HP - Mar 19, 2012

The battery is doing quite well and even though I turned down the 12 cell battery, for me the choice was well done. The cost was a bit high, but I limited myself to not looking around for a better price on the battery.

Good buy
5 Star Review   By RG18 on HP - Feb 19, 2012

I previously had installed a 12 cell Battery in my HP DV6266 laptop - when the original 6 cell was defective. But I went back to a 6 cell because the 12 cell design resulted in a bulge on the bottom of the laptop that was uncomfortable when I used it while it was on my lap - the 6 cell aligns perfectly with the shape of the laptop and I think I will use it a lot more when it is undocked now.

Replacement Battery for HP Laptop dv6000 Series
5 Star Review   By Charles3 on HP - Jan 2, 2012

This product fulfills everything that the description said it would. Delivery time was reasonable, the product is correct for my dv6000 laptop, and the product works correctly. As long as one follows the chart that this site provides for the different compatabilities between batteries and laptops, they should have no problem finding the correct battery and being satisfied with the product they order.

NOT USER FRIENDLY - TOO COSTLY
3 Star Review   By batteryMAN3 on HP - Nov 15, 2011

This battery is not user friendly to the point where you do not have to worry about its health while using the computer. HP states "• If you use external AC all the time, it is a wise precaution to calibrate your battery routinely, or, once it has charged fully, remove it entirely before continuing to work on external AC. Continuously charging the battery without allowing it to expend its charge can degrade battery performance and shorten battery life." Most people will not be cautious enough to take these steps every time they use their computers because the mind set is "portable, mobile, ease of use". Other manufacturers may have computers that automatically sense when the power adapter is inserted and automatically bypass the battery, therefore preventing its premature degradation and failure... not sure about that, but it should. :-) I would not recommend this battery if you are not prepared to care for it as instructed. Mis-marked battery
1 Star Review   By dlmyers on HP - Nov 3, 2011

I have tried twice now to purchase the battery above and every time I receive the battery it is the wrong battery in the correct package. I asked the representative to have them open the package and make sure the correct battery is in the package and again the plug is off to the side and not in the middle. The number on the battery inside is different. this is very frustrating. Don't purchase this battery on line go to a battery store so you can get the correct battery.

burns out too quickly
1 Star Review   By asb5280 on HP - Oct 24, 2011

Conveniently just after the 1 year warranty this battery completely died. We barely used the laptop during that 1st year. I have owned several laptops from various brands and will not buy another HP. I've never had a battery burn out that fast. Both my Toshiba and old IBM work laptops have original batteries that hold a charge a 2 years plus....

No problem whatsoever
5 Star Review   By Becky123456789 on HP - Oct 16, 2011

We've had our laptop, a Pavilion dv6000, for about 4 years. For the most part we've used it while plugged into AC power, so after a couple of years the battery would hold a charge of only a few minutes. We just got a replacement battery a couple of weeks ago and now use the laptop on battery power only. When we first got the replacment battery, it took about three hours to fully charge it. The battery is lasting about 2 hours while on the internet and only takes a couple of hours to recharge. The only time we use AC power now is to charge the battery. If the battery you bought lasted only five minutes, it may be because you needed to charge it first (for several hours) before using it as the sole power source.

Worst battery
2 Star Review   By boop6745 on HP - Oct 9, 2011

unfortunately this battery came with the laptop I purchased. It worked for the 4 hours the first time then after each use it continued to drop time on how long it would charge for. I would consider this battery just to stay at home continualy plugged to a power source to keep the laptop running. Not able to move far from power sources for to long, very frustrating!!!

worst battery
1 Star Review   By chargeless1 on HP - Oct 9, 2011

Wow, i thought it was only me! My laptop battery holds a charge for about 3 minutes. :( So, yeah, it's just a small desktop! I thought of purchasing a new battery - from another source - one that costs way less than HP. Now, i'm not sure if i'd be wasting my $$. But, it's so frustrating not to be able to use my laptop w/o it being plugged in!!! BTW, i can't get the release lever to slide all the way to take out the batter - it's stuck! Quality all the way. :((

Terrible return on your investment
1 Star Review   By hemiller8 on HP - Sep 17, 2011

This battery has been a terrible investment. My laptop has become a desktop. I am going to have to purchase a new laptop and it will not be an HP. The laptop must remain plugged in.The battery only last about 5 minutes before it dies! A laptop that requires this battery is not recommended.

Terrible Battery
1 Star Review   By Nickname4u on HP - Aug 31, 2011

This battery is terrible. It is basically like having a desktop computer. All you do is leave it plugged in. My battery only last about 5min before it dies! That is just enough time for me to run to the next outlet and plug the computer back in before all my work is lost. Not recommended.

Bad battery can't be replaced.
1 Star Review   By Goneoutside on HP - Aug 22, 2011

I can't believe how many people are having the same problem with their Pavilion. After about 3 months of use I could only use it for about 30 minutes before it would die. I've tried another HP battery and it didn't last. I tried another generic battery and it would never fit. Such a disappointment. HP must know about this problem because they had an a recall and then expanded it. But still won't cover my battery.

One of The worst Battery
1 Star Review   By brokecollegestudent on HP - Aug 10, 2011

I had my laptop since August 2008 so it has been 3 years. After the second or third month my battery cannot last 3 hours without having to be plugged in again. After 1 year my battery died. If I don't plug in the adapter, the laptop would not turn on even when the battery is inside. If I plug it in, my laptop says I need to buy a new battery and replace it. I wanted a laptop to last me all of my undergraduate years in college. This obviously was not a good choice only because of the battery.

Don't bother with this computer
1 Star Review   By Twiggyb on HP - Jul 20, 2011

This is my first time having a computer, and I know that HP isn't going to be my next. I have only had it for about a year and the battery doesn't work at all. I completely just tossed the battery since there is no point to even have it. When you unplug it it dies instantly. The point of a laptop is for it to be portable isn't it? The battery is too expensive to reorder anyways.

disappointed
1 Star Review   By keekee on HP - Jul 15, 2011

I thought I was the only one who was having the problem with my battery not holding a charge after a few months of purchasing this computer and I see I a not. I have had this computer for a little over two years and have only been able to use it plugged up. That is disapointng because the purpose of havng a laptop is to be portable and I can't be with this computer/battery. I was about o purchase a new battery until I read the reviews and I see it will be a waste of my money to do so. The computer runs hot all the time and shuts off. I'm very disappointed; next time I will do my research before purchasing my next laptop. Compac Presorio F700 i what I have.

1 Star Review   By Jamocha on HP - Jul 9, 2011

I have exclusively used HP products for 20 years and this is the first battery to die. It died within the first 3 years. I refuse to replace it with a battery that is very expensive and poorly rated. I now must use my laptop plugged in all the time. It may make me switch my brand of computer.

VE06 Battery for HP Pavillion dv6000
3 Star Review   By Annaped on HP - Jun 13, 2011

I have just read the reviews on the Pavillion dv6000 battery (VE06) and am delighted to hear I am not the only one with a battery problem. As with others I had some use with the battery in the first year (maybe 60/90 mins), now however the battery does not work at all. The reviews I read were the first I heard of having to remove the battery when connected to mains power, how ridiculous is that. Am hoping to have better luck/lasting power with the new battery I am purchasing.

Love the laptop-hate the battery
4 Star Review   By josi on HP - May 7, 2011

I have had mine since 12/07 and the laptop has not given me any problems except that it seems to get VERY HOT! Sometimes I am on mine for as long as 8-10 hours at a setting. I also wish I had known about removing the battery when you have it plugged in as I feel that was a extremely important piece of information to be omitted for everyone and I have to admit that it is a real pain to have to constantly remove. I now need a new battery as mine does not hold a charge at all and I cannot decide if I want to spend this much money on another battery or just put the money towards a new laptop.

Not impressed....very disappointed.
1 Star Review   By Crispy20 on HP - May 3, 2011

I purchased the Pavilion dv6000 a few years ago. The battery life is not good. I have to constantly plug in my laptop otherwise my battery will go dead after a short time of using it (45 mintues..maybe). In addition to this, my computer is always overheating! I can't do much with it because it will overheat then just turn off because it's so hot. I don't recommend getting this product. After only a year of using this computer, I gave it to my kids and got me a new one.

Lame battery
1 Star Review   By paulchicks on HP - Mar 6, 2011

Well this bites...had the computer less than a year and the battery holds about 20 minutes charge. Are you telling me that in this world of modern computing HP can't design a system that will charge the battery only when it is almost depleted? No, I am not buying another $120 battery to carry around in my "fanny pack" to use when I can't plug in.

Not the best!
2 Star Review   By Jaylo on HP - Mar 3, 2011

HP battery is a big disappointment! In college while Mac laptop users are using their laptop without the power cord, I always have to use my HP laptop with the power cord or else the laptop would suddenly hibernate! When I first got the HP laptop, it lasted for about 2hrs but within a space of 6 months, it deteriorated and charging the laptop is a waste of time as the battery can only last a few minutes! The laptop is barely a year old! I am very very very disappointed!

1 Star Review   By ena09 on HP - Nov 30, 2010

I bought this battery just over a year ago. I needed a reliable battery because I was attending college in the fall. I got the battery late in the summer and it never did hold a charge. Now, literally just over one year, it is completely dead. The warranty on these batteries is a joke - it covers the bare mininum. I was extremely unhappy with the performance of the battery and now, the warranty doesn't even cover it. I'm not a fan...

its good and light weight battery
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Jul 27, 2010

Hello everyone i have Compaq presario V6000.My old battery has got some problems, its was time to buy new one...... I had 2 choices: 6 cell battery or 12 cell battery but i decided to buy 6 cell battery because its light weight...and 12 cell battery has very bad design that pushes out your laptop and you cant sit right taking your laptop on your lap.... I have windows7 and the backup time that new battery gives is about 2hrs...with internet explorer running...and this time varies according to the tasks....and the lifetime of 6cell battery depends on your handling and it has nearly 300-500 recharge cycles......(approx 2 yrs) Kep your laptop vents open becuz the cooling fan consumes battery...theres is more danger to batterby heat rather than overcharging......always charge battery to 100% and you should store it in case you the machine is not to be used for >2 weeks.... although the price difference between 6 cell and 12 cell is less,i still prefer 6 cell for its design that fits good and look good and in case you want more backup time rather than looks get 12 cell battery

Poor battery performance, warranty lacking
1 Star Review   By dewey59 on HP - Jul 17, 2010

This battery didnt last past 15 months and it has already failed and needs to be replaced. Even before it died it rarely gave more than an hour of usage without needing a recharge. The warranty is the same as the notebook -- 1 year. A battery should last more than 15 months. How long the battery actually lasts is an importnat feature and this battery performance is subpar.

Performed alomst as promised for 2+ yrs so far
4 Star Review   By MrW1000 on HP - Jul 8, 2010

I am using the factory installed 6 cell on my Pavillion dv6500. Although it never gave me the 3+ hrs that was originally promised when new, just this past weekend I used it for 2 1/2 hrs on a driving trip; the battery meter wasn't even in the warning area yet. This battery is more than 2 1/2 yrs old. I did turn off the wireless antenae, since I didn't need it while driving, and minimal programs were running. With this said, I think that this is very acceptable performance from an older battery. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I have been spoiled by my Mac ibook at work, giving 4-5 hours with everything running. But, after working with Macs at work for the past 9 years I am still not ready to jump ship. We have 3 HP laptops and multipurpose printer in our home and have been happy.

Poor Battery Life
2 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Jul 4, 2010

I too have fallen victim to the severely weakened battery, due to constant charging. I would recommend two things: 1.) At a minimum, put switch near power cord, so that battery can be de-coupled from charger; 2.) An alternate idea would be to add a circuit that would monitor the battery, charging it only when it drops below some level.

6 cell battery suddenly dead
1 Star Review   By pedababu on HP - May 13, 2010

I bought this 6 cell battery as a spare one since my primary battery is a 12 cell. Generally i use the 6 cell when i am travelling since 12 cell is heavy. I rarely travel.Recently when i went to a distant place. so i carried 6 cell battery with my laptop, which is fully charged. One fine morning i opened my notebook to do some work. at that time the laptop was not connected to AC power. With in 5 minutes suddenly the notebook was shut down automatically and there is sound like a thud. I tried to restart my notebook with out any success. I thought some thing happened to my notebook and it might have gone forever fearing I lost all my files. After half an hour or so i got the AC power. So i thought of giving a try to start my pc. Then I connected to AC power. Then there was a power light. So I switched on the notebook and the system booted . Then I saw the bettery level at4%. After that Iwaited the battery to fully charged and then disconnected the Ac Power. The same thing happened i.e the system was shut down automatically with in 5 minutes. After that I checked battery health by an utility which is already installed by HP.It said the battery has to be replaced. That is the story. So never I am going to buy a battery unless if i don't get any other alternate. Even the 12 cell battery which came with the system never performed as advertised by HP. Hardely it supports 2 hours with ordinary applications such as surfing, emailing or using Excel with 2 or 3 worksheets which are not very small. I have some other problems with my system also. Never again HP.

Poor Endurance
2 Star Review   By Bijesh on HP - Apr 8, 2010

My HP DV6 is hardly 9 months old and I have been cautious using the battery only when mobile and not just plugged in. I have now got a notification to replace my battery! Have always used only HP notebooks and this is the 1st time I've actually having a performance problem...

Short lifespan
1 Star Review   By daVinciPig on HP - Mar 13, 2010

My HP DV6 is my first HP laptop. I have had multiple Thinkpads in the past and a Toshiba as well. I had to replace two batteries already. I only got the 2 hours of performance for about the first month of use for both the previous batteries, now I betting just enough to unplug and move to another room. This is the only thing that I do not like about my DV6. The battery is the worst I have ever used.

Bad battery design
1 Star Review   By GeneC on HP - Mar 4, 2010

I've had "laptops" since the mid-90's. I have 5 laptops now, 3 HPs (1 6910p and 2 dv6000), 1 Dell and 1 Gateway. I consider myself a very experienced laptop user having had HP/Compaq, Toshiba, Dell, Gateway and even a Zenith. Of the laptops I have had in the Lithium-ION era I have never had such a poor experience as I have has with the dv6000's. On both of my dv6000's the battery began to almost immediately degrade. And after about 12 months the battery was a brick. Note that my usage pattern is the same on my HP6910 and Dell. The Gateway is to new to tell yet. I leave it plugged in a lot, removing it for portability only occassionally. Seldom to I fully discharge the battery. HP's response to my complaints is to remove the battery when plugged into AC. How stupid!!! Imagine Honda telling you to remove your battery when the car is running. I really don't think it is the battery. Rather the design of the power logic. If so, the dv6000 power design is the poorest I have seen. My next step is to by an after market replacement battery and see if it degrades as quickly. If so, no more HPs. If the after market battery works better then at least I know where to buy/upagrade batteries.

Battery for Presario V6000
4 Star Review   By smitch on HP - Feb 5, 2010

I agree totally with all previous comments. I've had my laptop since 2006 and noticed that I had gradually lost all use of the battery power. HP should make it a whole lot clearer about the proper use of the battery. I only found out today after reading all the reviews the reason for it. Perhaps a warning message should be printed somewhere on the laptop in clear sight to remind you to take your battery out when plugged in to mains. Its a very costly affair to purchase a new one, especially if you're in South Africa and the battery needs to come from the States!

Battery life
3 Star Review   By Moze on HP - Jan 18, 2010

I would recommend this battery with the warning that it only should be used while mobile and removed all times the laptop is attached to AC.for any period of time, except for charhing. The battery is expensive and will only charge and discharge 400 or 500 times before beginning to fail. I did not know this so after about a year or so it began to fail. Chas

Poor initial information
3 Star Review   By wcrodr on HP - Jan 1, 2010

I bought my laptop a little over a year ago. Like many before me I had no problem with the battery until it became "fair" and started looking for a new one at HP. I was initially annoyed that the battery hasn't been in "good" condition longer. I'm fairly experienced with computers and this is my second laptop. It appears I need to assume responsibility though for not unplugging it regularly. I agree with many others that information regarding care of the battery (leaving it in the computer at all times when plugged in) would have been extremely helpful, and less costly. I wouldn't recommend this particular battery after reading the reviews of the 12 cell (VE12) on this site, which appears to be the better option. Specifically raising the laptop a little higher to keep it cooler, extending the time I'm able to use it when just using the battery, allowing additional space in the case AND the minimal difference in cost between the two.

Decent battery life
3 Star Review   By roxysnow on HP - Dec 13, 2009

I have a HP Pavillion DV6000. When fully charged and using the power saver option on my laptop I could usually get MAX 3 hours. With the high performance setting I would get about an hour and a half. Unfortunately, this battery only lasted me 16 months. I already have to go out and buy a new one. It has been decent, as I am a university student (using my laptop all day at school and at home). But I'm going to need to buy a bigger celled battery so it will last longer and I won't have to charge it as often (as this decreases the life of the battery dramatically).

Battery Problems
3 Star Review   By CondorPasta on HP - Nov 2, 2009

I have read all of the ratings on the battery in my dv6000, and agree that the battery does not live up to the potential of the laptop. After two years of operation, 1/2 hour is the max I can expect. I was disappointed to not read that HP has done something to improve this situation. This is my third HP, and I still believe in the quality of HP, but would consider another brand for my next unit.

Battery Life
1 Star Review   By drf99 on HP - Oct 9, 2009

I have the dv6000 laptop that came with this battery and like most everyone else hardly a year later the battery life was failing. I assume as most have reported because I would plug the adapter in and use it full time. It is absoluely rediculous to have to remove the battery when the laptop is using the power cord except when charging. That was a bad engineering design. I suppose I will buy the 12 volt version and uninstall when the power supply is plugged in the wall outlet.

Manageable battery
2 Star Review   By Ayoola on HP - Apr 10, 2009

The Battery that came with my laptop lasted for just one year. Though, I use my laptop on the bed at times, this i guessed contributed to its reduced life because the vents were probably blocked by the foam. I got a second one after this and i was very meticulous about it's usage but after 1 year of use, i'm considering getting another replacement because it wouldn't hold charge beyond 15/20mins. I think i'll consider going for the 12-cell type now

Bad Battery
2 Star Review   By butterflyhrts060709 on HP - Mar 5, 2009

I really wish someone had told me before my warranty was up that I needed to take my battery out while using the AC adapter. Maybe I wouldn't have to replace it a year later. I get maybe an hours use out of it now. The expense of replacing it is what has me hesitating to get a new one at the moment. I think if I get a new battery I will get the 12 cell litium battery that is supposed to have a longer charge. I think that prices even though they change should be lower and more constant. It's good that there is free shipping.

battery life
3 Star Review   By updater on HP - Mar 2, 2009

It would have been nice if somewhere in the info received with my laptop, it had said not to have the battery in while you are using the laptop plugged into electricity. It also would be helpful if you provided a cover for the battery compartment when no battery is installed and a cover for the battery when it is not installed. I now need to replace my battery since it only holds a charge for 1/2 hr. The lack of info is now costing me money.

Battery Life !
2 Star Review   By Hemanth on HP - Feb 10, 2009

I purchased this HP Pavilion dv2124tu series may be 1.5 years back. Initially i used to get around 1.5hrs on the battery life for less than 6months, then the battery life kept dwindling and now i am able to use the laptop on full charge just for 15-20mts. I love the HP pavilion lineup of laptops, they are awesome with good features and the sound is great, but if HP can do something to improve the battery life of their laptops to keep them more mobile, they wouldnt lose their customers to its competitors.

Very, very, very disappointed!
1 Star Review   By Zwip on HP - Jan 22, 2009

I bought a Pavilion dv2000 2 years ago and there is almost no part of the computer left, which has not had to be exchanged meanwhile (dvd-driver, harddisk twice, screen, loudspeakers,...) and now it evidently is the battery's turn! After decreasing rapidly in power after the first year (from 1,5h to about 20 minutes!!!), it now suddenly stopped to recharge at all... All in all: Nice design and features, but all in vain, if one can make no use of it as the product itself is as unreliable as this!!! -- VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTING!

Battery
3 Star Review   By ellibooboo on HP - Jan 4, 2009

Like many others, my laptop was 1 year old and the battery life was atrocious, from 2-3 hours new down to unable to charge, error message stated the battery had failed and needed to be replaced. Checking online with HP indicated the battery was no longer under warranty and I had to purchase a new battery. My son has the DV6000 and his has been shipped back with a bad motherboard and failed wireless card. I've had HP's for years and I like the overall features but the battery concern and other issues have lessened my satisfaction.

HP Battery for dv6000
2 Star Review   By SuperMom on HP - Dec 31, 2008

I am pleased with the HP products overall however the battery provided and recommendedfor such a well-know product I am a little disappointed with. The battery life was less than what I expected. In a review posted by another reviewer, it was mentioned that the laptop should be used without the battery in place when using the ac power however I am uncomfortable with the open space that would be at the bottom without some form of a place holder. The replacement cost for the product is also a concern.

Disappointing Endurance Over Time
1 Star Review   By Tirulian on HP - Dec 18, 2008

I've had my HP Pavillion dv6000 CTO for just shy of two years now, and the included battery has shown continuously decreasing endurance. Originally, I got about two hours out of it, less if I was playing games or watching DVD. That makes sense, because I have a stand-alone video card in one case, and the spinning disc drive in the other. Now, completely idle, the machine gets six minutes on battery. All said and done, I've spent $1,400 on this machine. Why should I have to spend another $120 every year to /keep/ using it?

Works well... In the beginning
4 Star Review   By NJStudent on HP - Nov 10, 2008

I had no problems with my battery for the first year - Typical battery life was 2hrs, then it slowly dipped down to 1.5hrs. My problem began when I left it plugged in with the battery in for an entire summer; afterwards my battery held zero charge and wouldn't recharge. This is more my fault. HP informed me that you aren't suppose to actually leave your battery in the computer if it is plug in for regular use (as in plugged in not just for charging). I am ordering another one and only putting it in when I need to take my laptop to class, hopefully it will last a lot longer. Another way would be to full charge and discharge the battery every day to keep it up to 2hrs - but HP also informed me that batteries only last for 400 - 600 charge & recharges.... So basically, charge your battery and TAKE IT OUT, then run your laptop with it plugged in and only use the battery when you need to be moblie. By the way this is the same rule of thumb for all lithium batteries. Good Luck

what's point If you go broke buying batteries!!
1 Star Review   By emitt on HP - Nov 6, 2008

I've had my dv6500 less than a year and the battery won't hold a charge. I thought I might just have gotten a bad battery until I read the reviews. The laptop is nice, lots of features but I will settle for less features and a good battery. For instance, the size of laptops has increased -not to mention all the stuff that's on them. I'm sure Some like it that's ok. me, my old laptop was small, adequate for documents and the web and I never had to replace a battery. Just make these an option again how bout it or, if there are any out there is there a salesman on the planet that will tell you about them?! because I daresay they'd cost a lot less

Less than I expected...
3 Star Review   By LAPTOPLADY on HP - Oct 24, 2008

I have an HP DV2120US, since 2006 and it works wonderfully, never fails(the laptop). I use my laptop every single day, when its not being charged with the wall adaptor, the battery used to last me about 2 hours. Now, two years later, my battery cannot hold a charge, I had to purchase a new one. Not a very good battery, i heard the 12V battery holds a longer charge, but at the expense that it is heavier and sticks out of the laptop. HP needs to pay more attention to laptop users who use the laptop on the go! make a longer lasting-non heavy, inexpensive battery!

DV6000 Battery Life Unacceptable

I've had my DV6000 for over a year. I like the laptop, but the battery life is poor. I get less than 20 minutes between charges. I'm going to purchase a replacement, despite the poor reviews, because I want to use my laptop unplugged in certain situations. HP, you can do much better than this.

Battery is Terrible
1 Star Review   By Megan on HP - Oct 12, 2008

Ive had the DV6000 for a little over a year now. The battery life slowly decreased in the first 2 months. After that it just didnt hold a charge at all, but the computer still tells me I have a full charge and the condition is good! Now every time i want to use it, it has to be plugged in. Today when I went to turn my computer on (plugged in) it wouldnt. Now the computer will only turn on if the battery is out of it. I wish I had known all this before I purchased the computer, because I wouldnt have.

Battery Does not keep its charge
2 Star Review   By DesperateGeek on HP - Oct 9, 2008

I own an HP Pavillion dv6263cl for over a year now. The PC itself is great but the battery does not hold its charge. The first few months it was holding for close to an hour. Now it will only let you use it unplugged for less than 20 minutes. The battery charge indicator will say 100% charged but it does not last. We have wireless capability at home but we still have to keep the laptop plugged to the wall. I have another laptop of a different brand with similar features and my daughter uses it in college and it keeps it charge. I have a spare battery for her but she never had to use it. I am actually buying another battery for this HP just so my other daughter can use it while waiting in between her dance classes. Hope to have a better luck with this one.

Pretty Good
4 Star Review   By Schnautz07 on HP - Aug 17, 2008

As a college student, I am constantly taking my to school, work, and then relaxing on the couch to surf the web at home (after homework, of course :) ) In my HP Pavilion dv6449us, I run Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, and I can count on getting 2 hours on a normal day. I also dual-boot Linux occasionally, and when running Ubuntu 64-bit, I can get up to 3 hours on a single charge. More time would be great, but I haven't found the motivation to buy a larger battery. I have had this battery for almost 10 months, and it still holds the same charge as it did out of the box. It charges completely in about an 1.5 hours, and works great for me.
