Awful
1 Star Review   By Uscoinsncurency on Sony - Official Store - May 15, 2013

This is the worst computer I have ever owned. It is always lagging. Sometimes the touch pad doesn't work. It gets incredibly slow. I've set it to defragment and other performance settings to automatically happen yet they do not. Just awful.

It's OK
2 Star Review   By Milkyway on Sony - Official Store - May 7, 2013

Resolution is awesome. But that's about all. I keep getting messages like AMD processor not responding and has recovered. That freezes the screen and had to refresh to recover. Then there's the driver error message, needs to restart the computer to correct the error. Then after it goes to sleep, it doesn't want to wake up. Had to power off several times before I can get it back on. Makes me wonder is it really a brand new laptop. It's not working like a new one. The only reason I keep it is for the high resolution - hard to beat that. Ended up spending another $180 to buy extended warranty since I lost the confident that this laptop will last very long.

Good For the Price
4 Star Review   By Ramzy on Sony - Official Store - Mar 15, 2013

To begin with, shipping was very fast for me. I placed the order the 14th of Feb and received it about less than a week later (my payment was accepted after delivery). Windows 8: Personally, I believe that the main ones who have a problem with it are older users. Once I set everything up, it was not confusing to use at all. To simplify what it is, Windows 8 is an interactive Start Menu. Instead of clicking that start button and having to go through all those folders to find the program you want to use, it's just one click away for you. So I love it. Laptop: Upon receiving it, I loved the feel, the color and how it was small but not too small where I had to strain my eyes to see the screen. I wish I was able to customize it because it would have made my year. I will say that it is not the most sturdy laptop and to take good care of it because one drop and you can kiss it goodbye. I did have a few issues to begin with, the login screen would sometimes freeze up where I would have to restart it. As well as certain programs would close out and updates would take forever to install causing me to have to restart it over and over. I contacted a customer service agent [for Microsoft] online and was told it may be my Kaspersky Software causing it to lag. Kaspersky was already installed in my laptop before I purchased it; I uninstalled and deleted it, then restarted my computer and it cleaned up my Vaio's act. I haven't had any more problems with it... YET. Battery Life: In very few words, it lasts up to 5 hours if on power saver mode and minimal programs are opened at once. I am very satisfied with this laptop!

SVE11125CXW better than expected
4 Star Review   By traveler1978 on Sony - Official Store - Jan 8, 2013

I got this device for my wife and I expecting a satisfactory small form factor laptop for trips. Performance is much better than expected and the screen is awesome. We are not gamers so our primary concern is email and documents and the internet all of which are more than serviceable. It has a nice solid feel and the finish is what you'd expect from sony. the battery does not last long with the device "off" and not on charge, but I am suspecting that this may be a fault of windows8 which doesn't seem to ever shut all the way down, even when you select powerdown and change things like the power button response. I have other sony laptops and do not experience this sort of short standby life. (less than 5 days to total drain). Windows8 is not very functional on a non touch screen device and is more of a headache than benefit, although use of a stand alone mouse does make it more serviceable. Microsoft should offer the option of not using the "metro" interface if you do not have a touch screen.

Just the looks baby!
2 Star Review   By Yoshimittsu on Sony - Official Store - Dec 24, 2012

This laptop is just looks. I customized it to the highest configuration (i7 and 16GB RAM). The viewing angle is HORRIBLE, worse than Lenovo. It is not that light wight. The keyboard is the best in the market and the touch pad is the worst. The housing of the laptop is so bad. in front of the touch pad the there is a line that goes along the edges from left to right. The line coinciding the light indicators( power battery and wifi) It is not actually a line but both the housing, front top and the bottom top join. It is so flimsy, you can literally use your finger nail to open it. This scares me because accidentally one can pry it open. WASTE OF MY $900...

Do Everything that you Paid for
4 Star Review   By als123 on Sony - Official Store - Nov 15, 2012

I bought this laptop for my Girl Friend as soon as this released [It's 1 month ago]. She loves this laptop. Although i bought this couple of weeks ago i see most of the people are already hate this product. But to be honest, this laptop gives all what you have paid for and even more. Guys this is $480 with tax Why you compare this one with a $900 or even more laptops. This laptop is for light use and it's designed for portability. When i purchased this i bought a 4GB extra Ram from Amazon for $20 Now it have 8GB Ram and it works very well.. This have a 750GB hard so increase some virtual memory and i didn't notice any lack of performance [Uninstall some junk sony S/W] Played Star Craft with less resolution, didnt notice any problem. If you are finding a laptop to watch movies, google, FB, youtube, watch news, basic java programming, play light weight games This laptop is the best for the price you pay.. I don't like the touch pad but it's not a problem since i use a mouse. also for a 11' you have 3 usb, card slot, rj45 slot, and rapid wake Also one usb can use for charging mobile device even you switch off the computer.. Im not exaggerating here. This laptop is not the best but it serve a person for a normal computer use for a less price..

More Of A Netbook
3 Star Review   By laxgamer on Sony - Official Store - Nov 9, 2012

I was looking for a small laptop to carry around at work for troubleshooting, and to watch Youtube videos in bed. I wanted to play some games if possible. It's an extremely slow computer. Sometimes you even have to wait to make the next click. This isn't what I expected, but I never had a netbook-like computer before. Solution: I went out and bought an extra 4GB of RAM, and a 180GB Intel Solid State Drive. They were on sale so why not. The computer is now 50% faster, even though I had to spend an extra $150.00. I think this computer would have been a winner with at least an Intel i3 core. The low voltage netbook processors are just enough to view webpages; however, this laptop is not advertised as a netbook. 3D games will struggle badly, but that's expected by just glancing over the chipset and non-discrete graphics. The other thing is that the hard drive is only 5400rpm, which is extremely slow and doesn't help that the processor and stock memory is lacking. With my own upgrade it is fast and can do everything but play 3D games. Unfortunately, I would have paid an extra $100-200 for an i-Core and faster hard drive. Then why not get the next line up? Because this is the only 11" laptop available with an Ethernet jack (my primary criteria). You would think a 13" is slightly larger but I was at the store and the size is very significant. Plus the design is very attractive to boot. I already own a beast desktop, a Mac Book Pro, an iPad, and a hand me down 9" mini laptop (after I got this laptop). So this was essentially the missing link for me.

Misleading Marketing
3 Star Review   By x10acn on Sony - Official Store - Nov 4, 2012

This laptop was purchased as a gift to be used for travel mainly. In reading reviews, I was struck by the description under the Night Shift section within Features which describes a keyboard that benefits from an LED backlight which illuminates each key making it easier to find the right key to type. Sony contends that means the backlight from the display; there is no keyboard backlight. I would appreciate other potential customers commenting on their reading of this so-called feature. In my estimation, it's misleading marketing.
