Unreliable -- Boot Issues
2 Star Review

Strengths: Display size

Weakness: Display Resolution Fragile connector for AC Adapter to motherboard Feels rugged, but otherwise HP Support

Normal wear and tear and this machine only survived 11 months before connector to motherboard went bad. Throughout that year I had constant problems with system booting attributable to BIOS updates and the flimsiness of the machine.

Very Good Laptop
5 Star Review   By member NYKing - Apr 17, 2006

Strengths: - Light in weight compare to Dell I8500 - Decent screen - Good HDD size and RAM - Good Built Quality - Remote Control

Weakness: - 2 USB ports - About 3 hr of Battery Life - Shared Video Memory and 4200 RPM HDD

This is my 3 laptop. I sent away my Inspiron 8500 to my father and bought this HP dv5020. It built quality is quite good compare to Dell. Truebright screen makes a nice difference. Light weight compare to Dell I8500 i had before. AC adapter size is smaller and battery size and weight is comparatively smaller then Dell I8500. This is my first laptop with AMD processor. I have been in favor of Intel processor, however this one breaks my belief. 80 GB HDD is decent size but 4200 RPM makes it little dull. 5400 RPM HDD would have been nice. 1 GB RAM is quite a good, but I don't like shared graphics. DVD Burner is nice. Overall its a nice laptop and I am happy with my decision to try HP instead of Dell and AMD instead of Intel. I recently bought Dell Dual Code Laptop for my wife. Haven't got a chance to play with that one yet. Hearing lots of good things about Dual core processor. If you get this laptop for about 750-850, its a nice price. Don't miss it.
