Apple MacBook Pro Winter 2011 (2.3GHz Core i5, 13-inch)
4 Star Review cnet.com - Mar 3, 2011

THE GOOD: The CPU updates to the 13-inch MacBook Pro offer big leaps in performance. The machine has phenomenal battery life, and excellent ergonomics, keyboard, and large, smooth, multitouch trackpad are still among the best available. It also comes with 720p HD Webcam. THE BAD: Graphics performance is slightly worse than last years 13-inch Pro. The 13-inch screen resolution is still low compared with the MacBook Air. The Thunderbolt port is an unknown quantity until accessories become available. There are limited upgrade options, and no HDMI or Blu-ray. THE BOTTOM LINE: The new entry-level $1,199 13-inch MacBook Pros significant CPU updates and fantastic battery life are nearly as good as the more expensive $1,499 version.

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch MC700LL/A | 2.3GHz Core i5 - 4GB DDR3 - 320GB HDD
3 Star Review productwiki.com - Mar 11, 2011

In Apples February 2011 refresh of the MacBook Pro line, the 13-inch model may have undergone more significant changes than any. The new 13-inchers, available in two configurations, offer greatly enhanced processing power over their Core 2 Duo predecessors via Intel Sandy Bridge (Core i5/i7) CPUs, an HD webcam with triple the resolution of the former iSight, and Thunderbolt I/O, a USB 3.0 competitor promising ultra-fast transfer speeds. However, while the 15" and 17" models feature upgrades to the AMD Radeon HD 6000M GPU, the 13" versions stick with integrated graphics. The 13" MacBook Pro remains intended to serve the mobile professional market, combining high-end performance with high portability: the notebook is less than an inch thick, weighs 4.5 lbs, and lasts up to 7 hours on one charge. Features 13.3" LED-backlit LCD display (1280x800) 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM (max. 8GB) Intel HD Graphics 3000 (integrated) Max. 750GB HDD or 512GB ... PROS: (1) affordable price point for a Mac (2) 1" is the sweet spot between an ultraportable and larger desktop replacement (3) the same beautiful Apple design / aesthetic (4) beautiful, large glass multitouch trackpad (5) can be configured to your liking directly on the manufacturers site ... CONS: (1) poorer graphical performance than the last generation model - downgrade from onboard Nvidia graphics to Intel (2) no HDMI output (3) no Blu-ray optical drive (even as an option) (4) expensive upgrades (5) unproven Thunderbolt technology with no compatible devices yet announced, launched or available
