Apple MacBook spring 2010 (Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD)
4 Star Review  cnet.com - Jun 8, 2010

THE GOOD: Faster processor; improved graphics; better battery life. THE BAD: Still no SD card slot; might be time for Apple to switch to 16:9 aspect ratio displays. THE BOTTOM LINE: Apple slightly revamps its basic MacBook with improvements under the hood, but keeps the design and price the same, which makes the new MacBook tough to beat as a back-to-school laptop.

Apple MacBook MC516LL/A
2.5 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jun 12, 2010

The MacBook is Apples entry level portable computer. The May 2010 refresh brings several upgrades including a higher capacity hard drive and a faster Nvidia GeForce 320M in place of the GeForce 9400M graphics card. Physically and visually it remains unchanged, retaining the same white polycarbonate unibody design. One small change is the processor speed upgrade from a 2.26GHz to a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. Even though the MacBook Pro line have been upgraded with Intels Core i series processors, the MacBooks retains the older Core 2 Duo processors. The battery itself has gained an extra 3.5Whr capacity (now up to 63.5Whr); whilst Apple reports a raise in battery life from the previous 7hrs to 10hrs. It offers the same 13.3 LED backlit display and the same range of memory and hard drive options. This revision of the MacBook brings a couple of expected updates, but the reason to stay with ... PROS: (1) improved battery life from 7 to 10 hours - very impressive, the same as the Macbook Pro 1" model (2) Mini DisplayPort now also includes digital audio output (HDMI compliant) (3) great value next to the Macbook Pro 1" for the vast majority of consumers - features the same internal components (4) slightly more robust than the aluminum Macbook Pro which gets dented and scratches easily (5) large glass multitouch trackpad ... CONS: (1) not differentiated enough from the Macbook Pro - very close in featureset and price (plastic enclosure, no illuminated keyboard, 2GB of RAM and Firewire 400 only for only $200 less) - would have been better if it saw a price drop (2) same old 1280 x 800px display resolution (3) still features the previous generation Core 2 CPU architecture (4) Mini DisplayPort is far from an industry standard - requires shelling out money for annoying adapters to use with the vast majority of displays

5 Star Review

Strengths: Battery life, user friendly, speed

I've been using a PC since before I can remember. After my PC began to fail two years into college, I knew it was the time to upgrade. Apple software is different, but I personally find it much easier to maneuver. Apple offers great student discounts and the Genius Bar has been nothing but kind whenever I've run into confusion/problems. This computer is fast, easy and well worth the money. For someone who once received virus threats at least three times a month, this has had zero - and i've had it since January 2010. I'll never go back to a PC, ever. Definitely consider Macbook!

The Most Wonderful Computer Made
5 Star Review

Strengths: Very easy to use and easy to learn especially if you are going from an HP to a Mac. Key board is great, sound is also great.

Weakness: I have a laptop and desktop and still can't find a weakness.

Thank you Workers at Apple in Holyoke for helping me learn to go from HP to Mac with such ease....the workers are as great as their computers are.

I love this laptop
5 Star Review   By member MartinPG - Jul 9, 2010

Strengths: It is light, durable, sleek, and quick

Weakness: The speakers are not great

Overall I love this mac book. This is my first Apple computer and I would never go back to a PC. This laptop has everything i could possibly need from Garageband to Word. It is so much quicker than my Dell and hasn't gotten any viruses. The Genius squad at the Apple store is so helpful if you need anything or have any questions. It has a good amount of memory and is extremely durable.
