SteelSeries 7G
4 Star Review  productwiki.com - Mar 24, 2011

The SteelSeries 7G is a mechanical gaming keyboard designed for ultra-quick reaction times and advanced key combinations. It utilizes a PS/2 buffer-system in conjunction with a ghosting system to support as many simultaneous key press commands as there are keys. This means users can do multiple tasks (crouch, aim, fire, etc.) at the same time. Also featured are audio ports for headphone-out / microphone-in use, a two-port USB hub, and media control keys for quickly adjusting the volume. Critics praise the SteelSeries 7G for its durable built, its low latency key presses, and its lack of bloatware. However, they have noted the lack of macro keys and other components that’d fit with such a price tag, such as integrated profiles and perhaps even an LCD display. Features Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Buffer-System Simultaneous Key Presses Rapid Response Time 18-Karat, Gold-Plated Switches Anti-Ghosting Functionality Media Controls Lifetime Switch of 50 Million Operations Two-Port ... PROS: (1) handles multiple simultaneous key presses without a problem (2) headphone, mic and USB ports built-in is convenient, cuts down on cord tangle (3) feedback from the keyboard is perfect, tells you exactly when the key has been pressed (4) palmrest is set up just right, keeps your hands at the right angle - slips on top of the entire keyboard, isnt cheap feeling / looking (5) simple operation, everything where you expect it to be ... CONS: (1) keys make a fair amount of noise (2) packaging is quite wasteful (3) very high price point

2 Star Review   By Dave on Provantage (Channel Engine) - Jan 12, 2009

Strengths: 1. It works as a keyboard. 2. Its heavy. 3. True anti-ghosting ability. Can press any number of keys at the same time and they will all register.

Weakness: 1. Price. 2. Keys pop off after about a month of use. 3. Blinding LED's. 4. Little rubber feet, slides. 5. The cable is so thick it will spring back to shape. 6. SteelSeries tech support BAD.

After using this keybaord since October 17, 2008, I can honestly say that this keyboard is NOT worth the money. It isnt even worth 1/2 the money. The keys popping off is the biggest downside to this keyboard. Although the rest of the keyboard seems built to last, the keys themselves pop off? Too bad, as most of the other con's can be gotten around.
