5 Star Review   By member lartacg - Jan 26, 2005

Strengths: Keys feel good & solid.

Hot keys include My Docs, My Pics, Calculator and Sleep. Includes a disc that installs driver allowing to program the hot keys. Also has media buttons w/ volume control. Very comfortable and "natural" feeling when typing. Small price to pay to decrease the chances of getting carpel tunnel of the wrist.

Strengths: I like the natural keyboard style

Weakness: sort of big b/c of the extra keys

It did not come with a box so it didn't have instructions, and I can't figure out how to use the shortcut keys on the top of the keyboard. But other than that, the keyboard is just fine, and if I knew how to use the shortcut keys, it'd be a lot better.

4 Star Review   By member cvrowlan - Oct 16, 2004

Strengths: I was able to reroute the 1 button keys quite easily. Price is great - people don't know what they're missing. Use an ergonomic keyboard and a trackball mouse!!

Weakness: Extra key portion too high to leave extension legs in up position and get put away with the keyboard drawer. Moved a lot of the keys to different locations. Not good for touch typists.

The additional 1 push keys are much more useful than I anticipated. I have been using an ergonomic keyboard for years and like this model better than the last one I had. Really nice to have the volume controls include all functionality and easy to use. Instant access to the calculator - I use it all the time! And, a 1 push logoff or sleep button too. Other than it's size (much bigger footprint) I highly recommend it. Especially at the price of $25 plus a $5 bonus for writing this review. Can't go wrong with this purchase AND it arrived 2 days after I ordered it.

To save my wrists, I bought this KB under $20. The multimedia bottom are helpful. F function are off when start. don't like the configure of the Delete and End bottom. I'm preparing to buy Logitech elite keyboard to replace this one. In a word, this is a great keyboard, but not the best in my opinion.

Strengths: snappy keys, comforatble setup

Weakness: color, hotkeys

I love using this keyboard. Although it took me little longer to get used to (compared to the regular keyboards), it actually helps my wrists and I'm able to type faster. I'd definitely recommend this product!!!!

Strengths: Comfortable, Reliable

This keyboard performs great. Its only potential weaknesses is that it may have too many hotkeys and its not wireless. But overall, you can't go wrong by buying this keyboard. The ergonomics are great to in the natural design.

Strengths: Natural Keyboard layout, solid constuction, MultiMedia Features, Programable function keys

Weakness: No USB ports on keyboard

Very comfortable to use; straight keyboards are a pain. I use the handy Multimedia buttons all the time - sure beats reaching over to my speaker controls to adjust the volume in the middle of a game. It will take a day or so to get used to the split keyboard, but once you do, you won't want to go back

Strengths: hotkeys keys work well; nice layout

Weakness: not available in black

this keyboard has a nice feel and the multimedia keys actually work well. Easy to download and install the Windows XP drivers. Combination black & white is kinda cool

Strengths: Natural Keyboard layout, solid constuction, MultiMedia Features, Programable function keys

Weakness: Rearrangement of PGUP/PGDN/DEL/HOME/END buttons - along with the deletion of the INS key.

I love natural keyboard layouts. It was hard to get used to 4 years ago when my wife bought one but now I'm hooked. This keyboard has the same rock solid feel as the first MS natural keyboard. I miss having the PGUP/PGDN/INS/DEL/HOME/END buttons in the original horizontal arrangement. The INS key has been removed to make the DEL key larger. But at work I have a logitech keyboard so I'm learning to not use those keys if possible because all three keyboards (original MS Natural, This one, and Logitech) have different navigation button layouts. Anyway this is a great keyboard. Just be sure you have enough desk space for it.

Strengths: comfortable and stylish

Weakness: Not ideal for gamers

Great keyboard for the price. Quick key buttons located at the top of the keyboard are programmable and quickly loads appropriate applications. I previously owned an earlier version of Microsoft's natural keyboard and have only one complaint, some of the buttons (ie. insert) are taken away and the new layout takes some time to get use to.

Strengths: Stylish. Ergo split KB design , multimedia keys and MS brand. Killer price if you can get a OEM brown box online deal.

Weakness: Took a slight break-in period, keys were sticky. Scroll lock wouldnt turn off. Slightly strange feel - keys sit low on KB. Key feel is a bit too soft.

If you get an OEM deal its a killer deal. You can only get generic standard cheapos in the $10-15 range. I got this ergo split, multimedia keys and MS brand for $17. I bought two of them. The downside is I didnt get a CD with it. But the warranty still says 3 years. Since ergo split KBs seem like they didnt catch on and are disappearing from many stores and the fact they tend to be relatively expensive in the $30-60 range, this was a steal. It does feel a bit light but all KBs do nowadays and though my old Logitech ergo does feel more substantial , it weighed a ton. For $40-50 its about average as ergos go though it does have the multimedia keys which some dont , but for $20 or less - dont pass it up. The only KB ergos I know that are cheap are the COMPUSA brand $29 but the arrow keys are mini keys and it has no multimedia keys and the Belkin $29 which is plain but acceptable. The only rival is an OEM version of the MS natural for $16 or so which is all white so it tends to show dirt like crazy but the key heights seemed to be standard. It also doesnt have multimedia keys.

Strengths: Excellent design. You can customize the media buttons to triger any appliction you like.

Weakness: Numeric keypad too far to the left. Better if closer to qwerty kayboard

Great value. Very confortable, in fact all keyboards should be like this one as a standard. I'm sure I'm doing my hands a favor by using this keyboard instead the traditional square layout.

Strengths: Great ergonomics - you'll realize just how bad "Old" style keyboards are. Multimedia controls and Programmable buttons-you can make the buttons launch programs...

Weakness: My previous Microsoft keyboard had a USB hub....but I don't actually need one...

Very comfortable to use; straight keyboards are a pain. I use the handy Multimedia buttons all the time - sure beats reaching over to my speaker controls to adjust the volume in the middle of a game. It will take a day or so to get used to the split keyboard, but once you do, you won't want to go back.

2 Star Review   By member nterry - Mar 26, 2004

Strengths: Price, construction

Weakness: Comfort. Not good for touch typist because they rearranged the control keys (Insert, Home, Page Up, ...)

I've had a keyboard similar to this one for about three years now and have loved it. Wanted a new one for my new computer at work because I depend on it to make my living. This would have been a fantastic keyboard if the control key layout was not changed. Instead of the classic two up and three across it has a double sized delete key where you would expect to find the DELete/INSert combo. HOME now sits above the oversized DEL key. PageUp, PageDown and END round out the column to the right of DEL/HOME. INSert, too, has been displaced to an unusual location. This arrangement will lead to much frustration and fatigue if you are a touch typist. As such, I would not recommend it to you. I intend to sell mine and buy an older but familiar model.

Strengths: Great key layout. Great feel of keys.

Weakness: Cheap materials. Plastic breaks easily.

This is my third Microsoft Natural keyboard in about 3 years. I love the layout and feel of the keyboard, but I wish that they would use more durable materials. My job requires lots of typing and my keyboards probably get more use (and abuse) than the typical user, but I have had keyboards that have lasted longer than these. In particular, I've had problems with the Microsoft keyboards keys breaking. The ergonomic design is what keeps me from buying a different type of keyboard. Overall, it is a good keyboard which I would recommend.

3 Star Review   By member Ergolad - Feb 16, 2004

Strengths: Ergonomic design, shortcut keys

Weakness: Media buttons do not support all players correctly (i.e. pause does not work in iTunes or Real Player), Keys a bit mushy.

I've been a MS Natural Keyboard Pro user for a few years and been very pleased. When it finally died, I decided to go for the new model. So far my experience is satisfactory. I miss the built in USB hub from the older model, as well as the snappy feel of the keys. The action on the new model is somewhat mushy for my taste. It also just doesn't place your hands the way the older model did. I prefer the feel of the Logitech ergo keyboard, but I could only find it available in wireless. As I'm not interested in a wireless model, this was one of the few options that was out there. Buy it online. Most storefront retailers mark it up considerably. You should be able to get an OEM for around $30 w/shipping included.

Strengths: ergonomic design, 3-year warranty

Weakness: No USB ports on keyboard

I love the microsoft natural keyboard split-key design because I type a lot and it keeps my hands in a more comfortable position, hopefully helping to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome. I've used a Microsoft natural keyboard for several years, but this is the first one I've had with the extra buttons, so I really don't know how much I'll use those. I think some of them will be useful to me, such as opening my documents, my pictures, and mail with a button instead of with the mouse. I would love to see this keyboard with USB ports on the keyboard itself so that I could plug my digital camera directly into the keyboard instead of having to plug it into the back of my computer. Overall, a good keyboard, especially for the price. If you're buying it for a gift, make sure it comes in a retail package; mine came in a brown box.

Strengths: Like the "natural" layout and the multimedia keys can be helpful IF you use them alot.

Weakness: Manufaturing QUALITY

Does NOT sit flat right out of the box; had to file down one of the nylon pads. By it online, not in a brick and mortar due to the HIGH markup at some stores. Watch out for the CD's they can change your system settings for default players, etc. if you're not careful.
