Strengths: size and reliability

My computer was built according to my specs. I did not choose the actual parts, but my techie could not have chosen better when he installed this hard drive into my machine. I have had my computer since 2002 and am still running on the same hard drive. I did have issues with it being slow at times but only when running multiple applications and once the drive was 75% full. Cleaning and defraging and optmizing my applications helped with the issue. Overall I have had very few issues with this hard drive and would recommend it to anyone.... ~smile~ if is was not so out dated. I will recommend Maxtor products though.

Strengths: Good size and great price.

Weakness: None that I've noticed.

I've used this drive successfully as a second drive on a Win95 setup, and now as the primary drive on a dual-boot Win/Linux box. Seems to me to operate flawlessly in every way. The prices on hard drives keep on dropping, but eventually you just have to buy one and not worry about the fact that you could pay less next week. This will apparently never change.

Strengths: It is quick!

Weakness: Haven't found any yet

I have it with an ATA 133 motherboard and have found it to be excellent, not much more to say really, it is quick and works well with the other components (XP Pro, Intel 82801BA based motherboard, P4 1.5 GHz and 512MbRAM).

3 Star Review   By member RadiationMan2k - Mar 10, 2002

Strengths: Not many, size is mainly its strength

Weakness: Very slow

I have a ATA100 motherboard, and since this is a ATA133 hard drive, I expected it to transfer at a rate of 100mbps, but it is very slow. I used a program called HD Tach to test the transfer rate and I found out it's only going at 1.7mbps. I transfered 3.5gigs from my primary hard drive to this one and it took nearly 40 minutes to transfer. Another thing is when it is processing something, it slows down my entire system, so if I try to trigger a new process, it delays until the hard drive finishes processing.
