Big disappointment
1 Star Review   By member gworthey - Jul 15, 2007

Strengths: nice size, nice features

Weakness: slow as hell, formats drive as fat32!, computer crashes HARD (bsod) on defragment

I was happy with this drive until I started copying files. USB works at a fairly normal speed, but the network interface is SLOW. I mean slower than a floppy disk. Large files seem to copy ok, but small files copy at around 5k per second (yes, 5kps) or less.

Very single minded NAS
1 Star Review   By member ronhack - Dec 7, 2006

Strengths: Haven't tried it out yet. Doesn't look any different from any other external HDD enclosure..... and I've seen many.

Weakness: If you want to use it as a network-added storage (as you should expect to), be aware that your choice of OSes is limited to FAT32... not ideal if you need to store large files over 4GBs.

Disappointing to say the least. The omission of its OS limitation, except in the manual, will squash any plans to build a NAS usable by any OS that can handle large files. Unless the file system planned for is FAT32, steer clear of this device.
