HATS OFF TO HP
5 Star Review   By MONTANA on HP - Oct 12, 2009

I ordered the slim line s5150 desktop and have had it one week now. Its fast, its small and is a sleek design and nice features. I ordered it stock (except for some added software)and intend to use it as a home computer for the kids for school. 4 gig of ram seems plenty fast so far and this computer speed tests over 6 meg down which is faster than any other computer I've had connected at home on my DSL. After receiving it and seeing the handy little pocket drive feature, I went on-line with HP and bought one for $95.99 and free shipping. Didn't plan on it, but it turned out to save money compared to ordering it with the system which would have been $119.95 (that's got to be a first). I don't have my pocket drive yet but all the reviews on it are 5-star so it should be a nice addition, givng another 320 GB of drvie space.

Custom S5150t
1 Star Review   By feduser11 on HP - Oct 6, 2009

This was a customised order. The system is the right size. The performance is worthless. Windows Vista Home Professional took over 2 hours to give a login screen. Boot up time exceeds 5 minutes. Graphics are terrible. This system is considerably slower than my Asus eeePC netbook 1000. I purchased this system to replace an earlier version of the HP slimline PC for the home business. The box is the right size and, on paper, the performance should be superior to the old machine with 6 times the memory, faster CPU and improved graphics Unfortunately this is not an appropriate replacement in that it is much slower, Vista Home Professional is totally inferior to Windows XP Pro from a speed and useability perspective. I do not have the liberty to load an alternate OS because ot the tools that are needed for the business. $1K for a desktop to have inferior performance to cheap $300 netbook is unacceptable. For all the previous ratings either people have no idea what to expect from a system or they have moved from a Pentium 1. I will benchmark this system using a neutral O/S to remove Vista from the mix. If the benchmarks are not up to standard this is being returned.

super duper
5 Star Review   By badjohn on HP - Sep 27, 2009

My second slim line, what can I say LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! no problems to set up but for my age (over 65 ) with shakes it was a little longer then average. Booted right up to my cable modem and started working. Second vista home premium and once you get use to it you,ll love it! I dont do or play games so I cant comment on that but for simple computing, surfing net ect, email and writting letters under microsoft task launcher no problem. If you shut down for overnight or more than two hours it will take a couple of minutes to get to welcome screen but I believe most computers do this. first slim line given to grandson for school and he says it still works good. depending on GB,s or such tech language which for my use I dont care about it is wonderful computer. Just put in antivirus( good quality one ) and buy it

The features is out of this world. Photshop, Media Manager love it all. Peformance speed is amazingly fast. If you get this computer highly recommned 6 in 1 memory card reader. Vista is a awesome operating system, so simple and awesome special features. Highly recommened HP and Windows Vista Premuim

Very quiet, compact & powerful
4 Star Review   By New2Slimline on HP - Sep 17, 2009

I got the s5150t with the quad-core Q8300 & TV-tuner, and am pleased with how quiet and unobtrusive this form factor is. Might even be ready to move the PC from the floor to the desktop! I wish it had a fire-wire (1394a) port, and this ought to support CF cards-- all digital SLR cameras use CF cards. I bought a small form-factor video card to add on to this-- in fact the exact same card HP is offering-- 4350HD512, but the heatsink on that is far too thick to allow installation of the tuner card as well. This has been the biggest bummer! But the on-board Intel graphics is pretty capable, even though eventually I want to use my discrete graphics card. I think there's little point in getting blu-ray on this, unless you hook this up to a HDTV-- with a 24" monitor I doubt you will be able to make out 1080p vs. DVD quality.

This computer is...OUTSTANDING!
5 Star Review   By Bunso on HP - Sep 16, 2009

I just got this computer not too long ago. The customization on this type of computer was excellent. It runs absolutely perfect. The design of it is sophisticated and smart looking. It also is much much smaller than that of a regular desktop tower. I have no regret in buying this computer especially with the great price and saving on it. 5 Stars is def an understatement on this computer.

Just what I wanted
5 Star Review   By krekeweg on HP - Sep 14, 2009

I was looking for a desktop unit that is quiet and conserves space as my office is part of the master bedroom. This unit is perfect! Installation was straighforward. Be patient as it took 30 minutes or so with all the updates. I have a HP w2558hc flat screen monitor on a wall mount attached to it via a HDMI connection. Wonderful picture. Didn't think I would use the Pocket Media Drive as I have my old Vista box for those backups, but I may change my mind now as I see how convient it is. I've built my own PC's before I got this HP. Very pleased I decided to go with this sleek looking unit that performs really well for my needs.

Love My Slimline!
5 Star Review   By MYea on HP - Sep 5, 2009

I purchased my HP Slimline 7 months ago and absolutely love it. It's slim compact design allows me to have extra space on my desk for my course work. The external hard drive port, card readers, USB and audio port on the front make access convenient. As an online student with the University of Phoenix I use my Slimline for 5-6 Hours every night and can proudly state that I would and have recommended this product.

I got my son a 23" HD monitor with 4GB of memory, 640GB free upgrade with tv tuner plus intel 2 core duo processor. The tv tuner works really amazing. My son can watch tv in a different wiondow and use the computer in one sitting. multi tasking you know. the features is worth the purchase. I have to write a review because I use the reviews here to help me decide whether I should get this computer or not. and I owe it to you undecided ones. I got a company discount and I saved a lot. very fast and amazing graphics. this is an independent review not in any how connected to HP.

Money well spent!
5 Star Review   By ShawnN on HP - Jul 31, 2009

It's been a few weeks I got this comp. I got it fully loaded with Quad core processor 2.5ghz, 8GB RAM, bluray, tv tuner, 640GB harddrive. I got it at a great deal too. The performance of this computer is outrageously mind blowing and I'm L.O.V.I.N.G.G. IT!! The only thing I regret is getting the TV tuner, which I really have no use for. But the remote control that comes along with it makes this comp that much cooler. so I shouldn't complain lol. Oh and also, the built in memory card reader doesn't read CF cards, it's just a basic 6-in-1 reader. But if you have cameras that run on smaller sized cards... like SD cards, then you won't have a problem at all. I still use SLR cameras that store pictures in CF cards. So that's bit of a drawback. But I had a card reader anyway, so it's all good. The blu ray player plays discs readily without having to wait much at all. The quality is superb too. But with all said and done, the best part i like about this desktop is the size and appearance. It's soo small, compared to the other desktops. and looks great too. The power button on the top and the lighting is kinda cool. The sleek design really is appealing :-) Overall, I'm SOOO VERY satisfied with this desktop. I still go on and on about it to my friends. I'm sure they have every reason to love it too by now. Word of advice: make sure you create a copy of the recovery disk the FIRST CHANCE YOU GET! It's very important that you do so, otherwise you will have to end up purchasing the disk if you mess up your operating system.

A Great deal and a bundle of power
5 Star Review   By clish1 on HP - Jul 19, 2009

I am using the s5150t as HTPC. I have it configured with Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q8200 [2.33GHz, 4MB L2, 1333MHz FSB] and 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics card. It is extremely quick and more importantly extremely quiet. Actually no noise at all. I looked all over the internet for an HTPC and none compares to the value of the HP. I have become an HP guy with another desktop and a media server in my home network. I ma extremely pleased with all three.

Great System
5 Star Review   By HappyShopper on HP - Jul 15, 2009

This is my first desktop purchase with HP. I purchased a s3750t about a week before the s5150t was announced. I was able to exchange the s3750t for the s5150t and I only had to pay the difference. HP paid for return shipping on the s3750t and there was no restocking fee and no questions asked. Ease of doing business is big for me, so HP earned first look for any future PC purchases with that smooth transaction. As far as this particular PC itself, I am using it as a HTPC and for the price (I used a good coupon code that was floating around) it simply can't be beat as far as value is concerned. I got the quad-core with 4GB RAM, 512MB ATI, TV tuner, and blu-ray drive and have it connected to my home theater (HDMI to the HDTV and spdif to the receiver) and everything works as it should. The case is much sleeker looking than the earlier models and I really like that the RF receiver for the TV tuner is built into the PC whereas with the prior versions it has a separate USB unit that just takes up more room on the component shelf. Also the power button is a little smaller and emits a lot less light, which is good for my use in a darkened room for TV/movie viewing. Another small, but nice touch is that there's actually a eject button on the case for the optical drive. It's also a little quieter than the earlier model and certainly quieter than the PS3 that this is replacing (not much of a gamer, was using the PS3 for blu-ray and as a mediacenter). All in all the case is well laid out, functional and easy to use. Vista is what it is. I'm glad this is eligible for the free W7 upgrade. My only criticism is the preinstalled bloatware, but you are going to get that with any pre-built PC, so I can't knock it for that.
