This computer is so fast and easy to use!
5 Star Review   By dave0528 on HP - May 12, 2013

This computer replaces my 12 year old HP Pavilion running on XP. I was so happy with my old HP I decided to get another HP. Have only had this new one a few weeks but I am delighted with it. It has so many great features (speed being the #1). I'm very happy with my decision to go with a Windows 7 Professional operating system and the HP folks that helped me put this together were just great. The only problem I had was that the Roxio Secure software I purchased wouldn't load - kept giving me a message that the serial number was invalid. I'm trying to resolve this with Roxio but so far no luck! Might have to involve HP since I bought the software with my computer package. Otherwise I'm happy, happy, happy.

Sleek, modern looking, great features and fast. Very easy set-up and initialization. Great product support. Overall, very happy with this purchase. Glad I was still able to get a Windows 7 machine.

Not enough USB ports
4 Star Review   By exsoccermom2 on HP - May 10, 2013

The computer works fine for my needs, but I would prefer more USB ports at the back, especially since the included keyboard connects via USB port. All of my USB ports at the back are in use, so I have to plug my external hard drive into a front port.

Great general purpose computer
5 Star Review   By Over55geek on HP - May 9, 2013

I use 5 computers for different things for home and home studio use including PCs and an i-MAC. Since the other computers have specific uses, I bought this HP Pavilion to use as my 'general purpose' computer. After 2 bad experiences with Dell computers I decided to try the HP. I specifically wanted this model because it had Windows 7. I am very pleased with the features on this Pavilion desktop, size of hard drive, size of RAM, wireless operation, plenty of USB connections, handles 2 monitors, etc. It is a remarkably quiet machine. Set up was a non event, extremely simple. Nice that HP puts the on/off switch right out front/top. It's operation so far has been flawless. I highly recommend this computer.

Product arrived fully loaded with virus'
3 Star Review   By frogfrog on HP - May 7, 2013

It took me fully three days to deal with the unwanted software(virus?) that came installed on this product. It would have been helpful had you told me what was installed and why with instructions for removal. It seemed like I lost control of the machine as soon as I turned it on. Maybe in some far off future if a Trojan deathstar does not appear to take back control of the machine I may forget this nasty experience, but until then I'd rather have my old computer back.

Added features make it excellent
5 Star Review   By Debbie2145 on HP - May 7, 2013

While the basic computer is very good, I added the additional USB ports which puts some in the front of the system, I also purchased the wireless card, and I got the additional RAM. I chose the Window 7 software and I purchased the Home and Student Microsoft Office 2013. The computer was easy to set up, loading office was easy. I knew I was going to use it wireless so I purchased the card and I had read the other reviews complaining of ports only in the back, for an additional $10 it was money well spent. It is a good personal computer, with plenty of power for me, it was not bought as a gaming computer so I can't say how it acts that way.

HP p7-1380t
5 Star Review   By JimBob66 on HP - May 1, 2013

Wow! HP did a great job combining the Intel core i5 quad core processor with fast memory and 1 TB hard drive. The other included features are icing on the cake! The quality build of HP is evident throughout. The inclusion of Microsoft Word would have been a nice part of the system. Thank you to all employees of HP for continuing to build quality computers I can rely on. : )

This PC is great
5 Star Review   By AviatorTed on HP - Apr 30, 2013

I recently received my HP Pavilion p7-1380t PC. It is running Windows 7. The PC is wonderful. It operates nicely, quietly, and it is very fast. It has enough power and speed to operate all my flight simulation software with ease. I am quite satisfied with this PC and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great computer. I have had no problems whatsoever so far with this PC. I am very satisfied with HP as a company also. They have been wonderful and pleasant to deal with from the ordering clear through the after delivery stage. I shall remain a loyal HP customer in the future.

I Can't Believe How Much Faster
5 Star Review   By Bassnote on HP - Apr 27, 2013

I was coming from an older P4 with the original XP Operating System. I did not even realize how slow my computer was. This Core I5 does the multi tasking that I am always doing. I don't have to wait for it to load a new program or finish saving a file. It is more than capable of doing everything I want to do, at any given time. I even Ripped a DVD for my tablet and it was extremely fast and the quality was superior to my P4. I used to have to wait for my computer, now it waits for me!

Couldn't have picked a better computer
5 Star Review   By softball08 on HP - Apr 27, 2013

I totally love everything about this computer and couldn't have ask for anything better. I don't have a lot of experience with computers and was worried about the setup. There were on screen instructions that were very helpful and easy so you couldn't go wrong. Everything went perfect and can't believe how fast it is. I just wish I had bought one a lot sooner as you can't beat new with all the updates. I have gotten e-mails from HP making sure I was satisfied which tells me they really want you to be happy with the product.

Great computer!
5 Star Review   By craigknox on HP - Apr 27, 2013

I love this new computer. It replaces a 2007 Dell which clanked, groaned, and whirred all the time. This new box is almost silent. It is fast and was a breeze to set up...take it out of the box, plug it in, and it does the rest.

Perfect System for Home Use
5 Star Review   By AfftonRM on HP - Apr 25, 2013

I wanted to upgrade my XP system to a Windows 7 system that would improve my processing speed and features. I found the perfect system. Not only is it lightening fast but has a large hard disk storage of 1TB. I wish I had upgraded sooner! I did add a wireless lan card for minimal cost to allow for placing the system in a location other than the router. Definitely worth it! I use this system for internet searches, Microsoft office programs, Genealogy research and the data intensive Genealogy program 'Family Tree Maker'. This system fills all my needs and more! Easy setup right out of the box. I highly recommend!! I did purchase the two year home service plan for peace of mind.

Great potential
5 Star Review   By TheOldCheyenne on HP - Apr 25, 2013

Thank goodness it goes to sleep on its own as it is soooo quiet I easily forget to shutdown when done. Opting for the extra ports was a good idea. Moving my all-in-one over from my old computer was no problem since it is also HP. Simply went on line and let HP do all the work. Thanks, Guys And speed? Most of the time I do not realize I've gotten on a site before I can sip my morning coffee. I just hope it lasts as long as my e-machine did (9 years)

Impressive HP1380T
5 Star Review   By Robott on HP - Apr 25, 2013

Received unit as specified and in great condition as the long distance movemenet packaging is well designed to protect the unit(s). This machine is very quiet, very fast and performs as I expected short of a system problem. No problems experienced todate after 9 days of extensive use, setup and comparsion to my six year old HP XP System. I had the unit custom made, with additional SDRAM, wireless-N Lan card, Premium Keyboard, mouse and additional software plus Windows 7. All was included as expected and gives me a useable Desktop package I can use for years to come. I have yet to permanently replace my older machine but am in process of starting to transfer all my old keepable data/files to the this new 1380T. This is my 5th new Hp Desktop or Laptop and in each and every case I have always been satisfied with that machine per the "State of the Art" at that time. In the past, long range readily available HP Online Support has always pretty much proved helpful during periods of computer operational stress and this is a nice HP perk.

Needed updating of software.
4 Star Review   By John70 on HP - Apr 24, 2013

This is the second desktop that I have ordered from you this year. Both times I ordered a tower with windows 7 software and both times it took nearly an hour for the microsoft website to update the windows 7 software to the latest releases. WHY DON'T YOU DO THIS PRIOR TO SHIPPING THE PRODUCT OUT TO THE CUSTOMER? IT WOULD SAVE THEM TIME AND ALLOW THEM TO WORK WITH THEIR NEW DESKTOP.

Internet was easy and fast.

No choices for sound card
3 Star Review   By ChromaticHarp on HP - Apr 18, 2013

Bought the P7-1380 in Dec. 2012 It's Great PC except for the integrated sound card. Seems to me Beats can't come even close to an actual sound card. If you just use a sound card to listen to music or use a head set, it's fine but if you want to listen to and transmit live music then you need other options, like a actual sound card, my choice would be (guess I can't say sound card names), I realize it is cheaper to integrate a sound system into a mother board instead of providing a actual SOUND CARD and I would think a large company like HP would at least give a choice And not tell us our warranty would be void if we put a good sound card in ourselves. My next computer ????????

I love this computer.
4 Star Review   By Canue12 on HP - Apr 8, 2013

This computer replaces an old HP media center PC m380n which was still working but quite slow. I decided on a new HP based on my positive experience with HP products. This computer is so quiet you do not realize it is on, it is super fast and worked perfectly straight out of the box, no issues what so ever. Ordering on line was a breeze and the computer was delivered at my door. This model has all I need for business and personal use, I did purchase Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013 and love it. Was able to order Windows 7, as I feel that Windows 8 is not user friendly with a desktop PC and is better suited for an interactive touch screen.

Flawed Operating System
3 Star Review   By Al50 on HP - Mar 25, 2013

The computer came with defective code in the Windows 7 operating system which caused problems when on the Internet. I didn't even try working the issue with HP but instead went to Microsoft who after many hours of work determined the computer was delivered with defective code. They were able to fix the problem but at additional cost to me. Perhaps this was a fluke but it should not have happened. Otherwise, it is a fine computer with excellent speed.

I have been using my new HP desktop for a month now and the performance level is of great satisfaction. So far I have not had any navigational problems or feature issues. Thank you, HP, for excellent products.

5 Star Review   By db69 on HP - Mar 20, 2013

This is the best computer for medical professionals. We have over 40 units running at our main office without any significant problems. I recently purchased a new HP with windows 8 and literally threw it away after 2 months of frustration, very poorlly designed for business people. The windows 7 is excellent for our needs and the computer very fast.

Good looking computer
1 Star Review   By Charlie33 on HP - Mar 20, 2013

Nice computer with good features but it had 2 problems which could not be solved by HP phone help. Web pages were minimizing and maximizing by themselves no matter what browser was used, and on IE web pages, under "File", neither Send Link or Send Page By Email features worked. They were grayed out and not able to be clicked to open email page. I received the computer on a Friday and sent it back 3 days later for refund. I also ordered another identical P7 computer that same Monday. I have confidence in HP puters and will eventually get one that works as it should. I consider this a minor setback would and still recommend this computer to my friends. I think it is a great value for the features it has and the power it packs. It is quiet and fast. The other reviews of this puter and the price for the build were what sold me on it. I've used HP computers for 13 years and get good service out of them when I get a "good" one. I've never bought a new computer that I didn't have to take back and exchange for another at least one time before I got one that operated 100% as a new puter should, without any glitches or problems. Maybe I'm nit picking but I'm just not going to spend $600 or more for a new computer that doesn't operate as it should and doesn't work as it was intended to work when it was built.

Move the USB ports
4 Star Review   By paul1234567890 on HP - Mar 18, 2013

I have purchased two HP desktops in the past year. Both have the USB ports positioned in a recessed area midway on the unit. This does not offer a clear visual approach to make the connection with thumb drives or external hardware. For easier connection it would be an improvement if the USB ports were moved to the top part of the face of the machine.

VERY appropriate purchase but YOU make it great!
5 Star Review   By Rickaroo on HP - Mar 12, 2013

First of all I'll assume you're looking for a desktop, that Win 7 is your desired O.S. and that you have minimal computer knowledge (I'll help with that). I chose Win 7 since I wanted to retain XP as a virtual machine in a Win 7 environment. (Not possible in a Win 8 world, so I hear) The Standard features that come with this box are adequite for most purposes. But there are 3 EXTRAS that are "must haves" with this box or any other box. First is the modem board. At the current rate you'd be silly not to get this added board as it converts your box to wireless at essentially pennies. Second, there are only 4 USB (2.0) ports in the back and 2 USB (3.0) in the front in the standard config. You'd do yourself a HUGE favor by spending a few extra dollars to get 2 additional USB ports in the front of the box. Finally, HP offers an additional internal 500 GB internal HDD for a great price. (go price a HDD, then install / config it yourself.) I did NOT purchase this and I'm kicking myself. It would have been a perfect place to put a system "image" in a convenient location, or, use it for back-up or ....... MY BAD! Also, these "extras" are included in the build and won't obligate you to pay for the parts / labor down the road. (computer experts not-withstanding) One extra "should get" is the RAM upgrade from 6 GB to 8 GB. The 2 GB upgrade is reasonably priced and won't demand that you enter the box 1 year down the road. But the std. 6 GB is more than sufficient to keep you current for 1.5 years. (The internet commercials will soak up memory more than any other source) The std. processors are fine for the average user (mine is a non-game world). The software upgrades are your call. The hardware upgrades are as suggested. This was a new box for me as I upgraded from an XP on a Compaq Presario 11 year old unit. Let me say that the old box would have been MORE than adequite if the internet wasn't inundated with Byte-intensive commercials. I've bought this new box to accomodate the internet commercials, and, move forward from XP as it won't be supported in the VERY NEAR future. In summary. It's a great buy. HP technology recognizes your periferials and installs the drivers. The USB addition, wireless card, and extra HDD situation can be addressed through upgrades at VERY LOW cost as you'll get a big bang for those extra bucks. I'm not a sales person by ANY means. Any upgrades are my suggestions to the inexperienced user who might want some help in their purchace. Hope this helps.

Great PC for the price.
5 Star Review   By BIGD59 on HP - Mar 3, 2013

Purchased to replace older PC running XP for typical home use, wanted to go with Windows 7 vs Windows 8. Delivered earlier than original estimate. Unpacked from box, plugged in, and started it right up. Hooked up to ethernet cable and it established/configured a connection automatically to our ISP. PC came with DVI video ports but there was a DVI-VGA adapter in the box too so our existing monitor was good to go. Quiet and fast operation, looks great. Very happy with purchase.

There is a learning curve to learn Windows 7, but Not too bad. I really enjoy using mynew computer. The one exception if the Blu-Ray player which does Not work. It is NOT the computer's fault - wrong plug on my new monitor is the problem.

Lacking USB ports
4 Star Review   By peterva on HP - Feb 28, 2013

The product does not have enough usb ports even after I added extra ports and they are all in back. Since two ports are used by the keyboard and mouse, that only leaves two for attaching ipod, camera, sticks and other attachments. Also they are all in back making sharing ports difficult.

Good features
4 Star Review   By keith6380 on HP - Feb 7, 2013

Only disappointment is the lack of expansion ports on motherboard. If on board failure, only expansion is for video card. My last HP Pavilion model had much more expansion slots for various types of cards on motherboard. Used HP support for one problem and they resolved problem, and tech stayed on phone to resolved. (Process took over a hour to run)

5 Star Review   By notsailing on HP - Feb 6, 2013

A new world has dawned! Why did I wait so long to get a new computer? Partly. I was concerned about the set up and transferring data from my old computer but that turned out to be pretty easy. I went with the basic 1380 except I did pay extra for the premium internet keyboard which was well worth it.

Quick, capable, no problems
5 Star Review   By Gary56 on HP - Jan 28, 2013

This computer is much quicker than my 10 year old Dell. Or the Lenova I bought at Best Buy for a smokin deal a week before. It had Windows 8 which was not a good experience. :( It was also not supported by my company's IT team. I needed a new computer to work from home efficiently and quickly. Windows 7 with the HP machine works great for me. The only issues I have are the cords for the mouse and keyboard are too short! Maybe that's so we will go out and buy a wireless set, which is what I did. Also, I tried to install Microsoft Money 2000 on the new machine so I could continue to keep track of my checkbook, it no longer recognizes my password and is unusable on the new HP. That is probably just due to trying to use 12 year old software. Overall, I am very pleased with my HP desktop's performance and features. I started out ordering it online, then had some questions and called a sales rep who was very helpful. I am glad I spoke to someone before ordering it.

Still clutching onto Windows 7
5 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Jan 27, 2013

It's not that I dont like Microsoft products, but I am hesitant to be the first to use a new operating system. I can remember standing outside my local CompUSA (I do miss them!) at midnight to get a copy of Windows 95 at release. Many sleepless nights later it became clear that I am not the adventurous type. That being said, thanks to HP for allowing me & others to purchase great equipment with a choice of operating system. WIndows 7 has earned it's stripes and should suit me for many years, just as this HP computer should!

This computer is fantastic
5 Star Review   By Candi on HP - Jan 26, 2013

I love how fast it is. It has been a breeze to set up and uncomplicated to use. I had one issue with my hp printer. It is about 3-4 years old and so the software wouldn't download right. I was getting frustrated and was about to call when I decided to make sure I had it plugged in and make sure the printer itself would work. As soon as I turned it on to copy something, the computer recognized the new hardware and did an online download itself! It is a different program than I am used to, but it works just fine. Thank you HP for doing such a great job.

inadequate number and design of usb ports
4 Star Review   By retiredman on HP - Jan 25, 2013

I had to buy a USB hub after this purchase to make all of my necessary connections. Also, the sliding panel on the front of the computer is useless, as it must be kept open if anything is plugged into the USB ports behind it. The two 3.0 ports on the front cannot be used by a mouse dongle and a pocket drive together, as the power is inadequate. Does this mean that they are two branches of the same power supply? If so. there is only one useable 3.0 USB port. Otherwise the computer is fine.

Good computer, once you trouble shoot it alone
3 Star Review   By ASCConsultant on HP - Jan 23, 2013

This Pavilion is running Windows 7 quite well so far, about a week since getting it loaded up. Be aware however the mother board has almost no expansion capability, and is not friendly to older peripherals. There is no serial port, and if you buy one of the HP recommended graphics cards the only PCI slots remaining are the "1" type which means limited and expensive upgrade options. HP purchasing support also informed me that when you buy their recommended graphics upgrade they send a machine with no built-in (i.e., "on board") video support at all, in spite of the two VGA ports on back covered by plastic caps. HP phone support was actually insulting to deal with. When I wanted to learn about features of the graphics card the purchasing people said it was too technical for them so I had to call tech support instead. Tech support said since nothing was broken they would not even talk to me -- then hung up when I tried to explain what sales support said. The on-line chat option is much better, and finally saw me through the graphics card question and issue. The day after getting things running the USB ports on the front suddenly stopped working, even though the hardware profile said they were working properly. My fix was to shut it all down, unplug everything, open the back and simply unplug and replug the two cables involved with those USB ports. That seems to have fixed it . . .for now at least. I do not know if this indicates a design weakness, quality control issue at the assembly facility, or if I knocked a cable loose while dealing with my graphics card problem. The five year old HP tower this Pavilion replaced was a well designed, flexible, and reliable unit. Since that flexibility is apparently no longer available, and HP phone support is at best a waste of time, I only hope the machine is well enough designed in other ways to last.

slow and glitchy
1 Star Review   By baileytbear on HP - Jan 22, 2013

I would strongly suggest looking at another desktop. With the quad-core i5 processor and mostly positive reviews, i purchased this desktop expecting a quality machine. What I received was a slow and glitchy computer that constantly freezes and is unresponsive. I constantly get stuck with non-responsive programs while doing nothing more than checking email and opening i-tunes. My 6 year old desktop is quicker and more reliable, and all of this is on top of windows 8 being a HORRIBLE OS for desktops. I am very regretful for this purchase. As a matter of fact, I just got a "Mozilla Firefox (not responding)" warning twice while typing this review...

3 Star Review   By ringletguy on HP - Jan 21, 2013

Good performance PC. Too many and unnecessary softwares loaded. Boot time and start up is slow. There were occasional lock up and need restart. The PC would be nice if HP not load all the unnecessary applications but direct to the HP site if a customer so chooses to download those apps.

Fastest computer to date
5 Star Review   By SunflowerPA on HP - Jan 2, 2013

Ordered this online since all the stores are selling Windows 8. Configured this computer with Windows 7 Professional as I am more familiar with the networking features. Elected the quad Core i5 processor which for my use is fast enough and instantaneous surfing the net. I did install a few games and so far, no issues with the speed of play or graphics. Found a Panasonic HDTV/Monitor at Best Buy so that I could multitask in the home office to use as the monitor. There was one configuration issue with the graphics in that regard to set up so that the computer image fit the screen and that was accomplised in the Catalyst Control Center, Flat Panel Options by adjusting the slide towards Underscan. Added the HDMI graphics option card and connected to the Flat Panel via HDMI which is just BEAUTIFUL! Text size adjusted to Medium which displays better on the 24inch size. Other than the added costs of the options I installed, configuration to what I wanted was a plus and I'm completely satisfied with my purchase.

HP reliable
4 Star Review   By jan34209 on HP - Jan 1, 2013

This is my 4th HP and although there were some glitches at the start it has been fine since the Support tech downloaded a new driver. I'm guessing the problems were due to Christmas rush and I wouldn't have ordered a PC this time of the year if my old one hadn't died. Things are working fine now and I no longer feel like I need to move to the UK (mine was set for the UK and even the # sign was the english sterling sign)!

Priced well for performance
4 Star Review   By TheGud on HP - Dec 30, 2012

Moving from a 9 year old HP and Windows XP is a huge improvement. The key for the upgrade was lack of XP support on Adobe LR4 as well as sluggish internet performance. Yes I waited a while but the price on this and the fact it has W7 is a no lose deal. You can get faster performance but no need for HQ video or gaming in my middle age world. Price is key.

I got this machine for my Mother for Christmas. In setting it up for her, I was impressed with the features for the price, the looks, speed and capabilities. Solid, Fast, Quiet
5 Star Review   By graphicartisan on HP - Dec 23, 2012

This unit replaced my trusty but now rusty 10-year-old computer, so obviously the performance of the new HP far surpasses the old one. Nonetheless, this appears to be a wonderful computer for the money, at least so far. PROS: I am so far quite impressed with its speed, capability, build quality, appearance and performance. There have been many advances in technology over the decade, all reflected in this machine. I had to make certain compromises because of economics, but decided the HP offered the best bang for the buck. I had shopped for a month across all major and minor brands. Online purchasing was a breeze, and customer service was great. CONS: I am a little disappointed that there are only six USB hubs. Also, the instruction manual lacks for everything! One would think the company would go out of its way to provide in-depth information about such a sophisticated machine, but HP is flat on that score. Finally, the low end keyboard and mouse are utilitarian at best, and one should upgrade if you can afford to. Luckily I had USB equipment on hand, so discarded the duo after a day's use. Since the unit is new, I have no idea if it will withstand the rigors of hard daily use, which it will receive here. I will be back to update my impressions over time, as I intend to hold HP's feet to the fire. It's a giant corporation and needs to know what its customers think, as well as that it needs to be accountable to them. They now have my money and I have their machine. We will see if this develops into a partnership or not. So far so good, HP.
