Just what I ordered and perfect!
5 Star Review   By Maggie64 on HP - May 9, 2013

I customized this unit to last for years and provide everything I could possibly need. Set up was simple, even for a not quite elderly woman, and the unit works very well. I just love it! The only other item I would have liked is a paper instruction book. The 2 USB ports on top are much easier to use than the ones in back, and I may eventually buy a USB hub to sit right on top. Speed and ease of use are both great, and with 2TB, I won't run out of space anytime soon. Thanks HP!

Excellent PC
5 Star Review   By AZRON on HP - May 9, 2013

Available custom configurations, Windows 7 OS, financing options, and fast delivery combine to make this an excellent choice. This computer replaces a seven year old unit and the improvement in performance is amazing. Overall, the set up was fast and straight forward even with the minimal instructions. I was so impressed, that I have purchased two PC's with comparable configuration, both directly from HP. There is, however, one irritant: software was out of date and required extensive updating. Windows 7 required 77 "important" updates (434.6 MB). Norton indicated last update 396 days prior and required a 193.87 MB update. With a high-speed DSL connection, the downloads required about two hours and the installation/reboot another hour.

Great machine!
5 Star Review   By Chris27 on HP - May 8, 2013

I would have given this machine 5 Stars+ except for the rear-facing USB 3.0 ports on the top--a problem if in a computer desk like mine with limited vertical space--had to purchase 3.0 extension cords to make use of these ports. Other than that, the machine is everything you could want in a high-end speedster --AND--got it with Windows 7 Pro instead of that wretched Win8. I am a photographer and and have extensive software that all works flawlessly with Win7. My previous HP desktop machine (purchased last Dec 12) came with Win8 and I had numerous problems and none of these manifested with this fast Win7 Pro machine. Win8 machine is now my closet queen spare CPU--I will convert it back to Win7 Pro when I get the time.

Disappointing
2 Star Review   By rgsatx on HP - May 8, 2013

I had high hopes for this machine. The hardware seemed to be fine; however, the original O/S installation was flawed and, as an example, Adobe Flash somehow blocked assess to various apps and programs. So, I reinstalled Windows 7 (from disks I'd bought) only to encounter different kinds of issues, notably the fact that my settings wouldn't "stick", and I'd have to go back and reset my choices. Six days on, I gave up. In all the years I've worked on desktops (going back to a horizontal Compaq desktop with Windows 95 that I bought in the summer of '95), this is my first failure. Did awful things to my ego! Anyway, I wasn't going to spend any more time on the beast--much as I wanted to keep it.

Nice, but a little slower than I expected
4 Star Review   By PhotoshopUser on HP - May 8, 2013

I got this computer despite my concern that HP is trying to commit suicide based on many of its decisions in the past few years. However, it still seemed better than the alternatives and cost only about half as much as a comparable iMac. I got it fully loaded with both a solid state drive and a 7200 rpm hard drive, 12 GB memory, a 3rd generation i7 processor, and a good graphics card because I am a heavy Photoshop user and wanted really fast performance. The system is in fact fast. It just doesn't blow my socks off quite as much as I expected. I especially like that my automatic backup software and virus software can scan the disk without having much effect on what I'm doing, and I can run Photoshop and Lightroom at the same time with no problems at all. I did think that Windows would start faster than it does since it is loaded on a solid state drive, but then it's Windows. The system has lots of USB ports which is nice, although putting the USB3 ports on top of the computer facing backwards isn't very handy if you put your computer is in an enclosure. All things considered, I think I made the right decision.

I like this computer
5 Star Review   By Gini on HP - May 8, 2013

Although this computer was delayed in shipping, when it arrived it was easy to set up. I ordered the Windows 7 operating system and am very pleased. I was able to add a second hard drive from my prior computer which makes the transfer of documents very easy. I will use the second hard drive for backup. I was able to reload all my programs without problems. The speed is great. I specifically ordered this computer in order to create DVD movies. I have not done that yet but expect all to go well. The system is quiet and I like the Magic Canvas feature.

This system has very good price/performance
5 Star Review   By TeeRex on HP - May 7, 2013

In the past I have just purchased in-store models, whereas I was able to custom order the system based on what features were most important to me. The end result is a pretty high-end system at a very reasonable price. The h8-1360t model also runs very quiet and is energy efficient, which is important to me as I plan to run one of the 3 units I purchased 24/7 to run windows media center, which is working extremely well as I am about ready to return my DVR to Comcast since I no longer need it and I now have 2 TB of storage for recorded programs.

5 Star Review   By foot on HP - May 6, 2013

Great PC. Received it, plugged it up and everything worked correctly the first time and is still working great. Some older hardware I thought I would have trouble finding drivers for was not a problem. This pc recognized the hardware connected and went out and found the right driver and all hardware worked immediately. I would recommend this pc to others.

Fine machine-couple drawbacks
5 Star Review   By Age77PhDPutrPuke on HP - May 4, 2013

Upgraded to 16GB memory before startup-all went well-machine is stable, runs cool and fast Just what my wife needed to replace 6 year old machine that was dying. I have built all our desktops since 1997. Too arthritic & shakey now Minor draw backs: next. I removed graphics card and tried Intel 4000 graphics-fine, but ran cpu too hot - put card back . Cant use add-on disk controller for Raid 1-system WILL NOT BOOT with any of controllers I tried-adaptec 6405 and 2 asmedia chip based- Intel brand z77 motherboards have same restriction -my own ASUS z77 works fine---I will try Intel z77 Raid software soon Have had for more than 3 weeks-absolutely stable-usb3 is stable. As delivered, system is fast, stable, runs cool and solidly built -No dazzling lights, excellent appearance and RELIABLE Just what I expect from HP

Poor start-up instructions from HP
4 Star Review   By Ashmole on HP - May 4, 2013

A fine computer all around, but the instructions on getting MS Office loaded into the computer were appallingly bad. I had to call HP (which was not all that friendly) and then a long call with Microsoft (who at least seemed interested in helping). So A on the computer, F to HP on instructions and customer service.

Great computer!
5 Star Review   By jkid on HP - May 2, 2013

I found the computer to be great. I did add more memory and up the power supply unit. I did that for any future upgrades I may want to do. I owned a HP before and decided to go again. You might want to change video card, if you are a gamer though. It can not handle the newer games. I found the added software worthless. It is outdated and not worth keeping on the machine. I removed them and installed the newer versions.

Excellent computer, bad Guide book.
5 Star Review   By XgKjSx on HP - May 1, 2013

This computer is doing everything I need, and I'm positively impressed. However, the Guide that came with it was unnecessarily cryptic and hard to follow. Look at the first four pages. What do the large numbers correspond to? I don't see anywhere in the text that they're explained. Why not delete these numbers, or perhaps replace them with a word or two.? That would be far more helpful. And why not hand this Guide book to someone who isn't a computer geek and watch them set up a new computer. This Guide should have answers to all their questions. Also, I separately purchased a HP monitor (W2072a), which came with a cord to connect with the computer. Why doesn't HP provide cords that connect their monitors with their computers? I had to go out and buy an adapter.

Great Box so far
4 Star Review   By Jeff62 on HP - Apr 27, 2013

The only thing that kept this from being a 5 was the lack of a VGA port for my old monitor which is in perfect working order. Easy transition from my old desktop using Windows Easy Transfer. I also didn't want to deal with windows 8 and this was a great pick. Make sure you have enough USB ports. The extra money is worth it.

More features than I will ever use
5 Star Review   By Tburg on HP - Apr 26, 2013

This is the first computer I have ever bought and the first new computer I have ever owned. I had always used my children's hand me down computers, a 2003 and 2006 year models. They were just not getting the job done. My wife had worked for the Army Corp of Engineers for 30 years and they had always used HP computers and she always talked of how good they were. So I went with her recommendation and had this new one built to my order. I have only been using this computer for a few weeks and I am still getting it all set up and learning about it but from all I have done so far it will serve me well from here on out. I am very satisfied with it.

Fast Machine
5 Star Review   By JHorrick on HP - Apr 26, 2013

So far I am very happy with this desktop machine. All programs seem to load very fast and I have not had any crashes. I did not want to go to Windows 8 so was glad to find such a performance machine with Win7 still available. I have always purchased Dell computers in the past but decided to switch to HP for the value and support. I have owed many HP printers over the years and hope I have as much good usage from this computer as I have with the printers.

5 Star Review   By mcwo on HP - Apr 25, 2013

Easy set up- wireless works very well, very quite, arrived as ordered. Could not have built this machine at this price. You will want to remove some of the shipped programs, not that it came with a lot of bloated programs, just some stuff you may never use. Yes, it is very fast and boot-up is fast as well. I have had it up and running for a couple weeks.

No choice...
2 Star Review   By nochoice on HP - Apr 25, 2013

I had no choice but to buy from the HP Store because everywhere else forces a horrible Windows 8 on consumers. But this desktop is just short of the mark. It looks and feel dated. The USB ports are positioned so awkwardly it's very hard to use. Who the heck at HP designs these things for usability? Like the laptops that has the touchpad at the palm of your hands when you type? If I had a real choice I would not buy HP again until they get their act together, but it's been so many years... Plus, the bloatware...

Great Performance Desktop
5 Star Review   By kyancey80 on HP - Apr 25, 2013

I really love this PC. It is super fast and reliable. I had no problems setting it up and getting to work. ONE THING, HP: Give us the ability to OPT OUT of all of the excess HP software. I did not need the touchscreen HP software suite because 1) I did not order a touchscreen monitor and 2) I did not order an all-in-one PC. Even though I really enjoy this PC, it is a tad bit annoying to have to sift through the "junkware" and remove it from my machine. I use this for work and school not to do all of that unnecessary stuff that the "junkware" offers.

HP PAVILION HPE H8-1360T DESTTOP PC.
3 Star Review   By CATTOOTH8 on HP - Apr 25, 2013

IT HAS SO MUCH, YOU WILL NEVER USE AND THE ONES YOU DO WANT TO USE, IT DOESN'T GIVE YOU ANY DIRECTIONS OR ANYTHING ELSE ON HOW TO DO IT. I USED TO PLAY A LOT OF POGO GAMES, BUT NOT ANYMORE. BECAUSE JAVA DOESN'T WORK WELL AT ALL WITH WINDOWS 7. I HAVE CABLE HIGHSPEED INTERNET AND WINDOWS 7 DOESN'T WORK WELL WITH THAT EITHER. I GUESS IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE OF ALL THE PROGRAMS YOU DON'T USE ON THE THAT LOADS UP THE MEMEROY. YOUR MOST LIKELY SITTING THERE AND SAYING WHY DON'T HE DELETE THE EXTRA THING HE DON'T NEED. IT'S BECAUSE THE PROGRAMS I USE TAKE THE OTHER PROGRAMS TO WORK PROPERLY. AT LEAST I THINK THEY DO.

HP Pravilion h8-1360t
4 Star Review   By LFBO on HP - Apr 25, 2013

Overall this machine is a great performer. The SSD drive for programs is a real speed demon. My only complaint is that HP did not send a HDMI-VGA converter cable (there is no VGA connection on machine) so I could not get my second monitor to run. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with technical support who then referred me to sales for resolution. It would have been helpful had the machine had a VGA connection but it didn't. I had to put the ordering of the adapter on my credit card with the assurance it will be applied to the PC purchase

Good machine, poor OS
4 Star Review   By Fghill on HP - Apr 25, 2013

The machine looks good, works well. I regret the half-kilowatt power draw; I can't leave the computer running overnight, because of the cost. Windows 7, though, is a learning experience that I dreaded and found fully meets my expectations. I was comfortable with XP, but that's between me and Microsoft, not HP, which continues to be a reliable, friendly and helpful company (except for now selling only printers that scan and fax too, and not having drivers for my Photosmart 1115).

a pleasant surprise in most respects
4 Star Review   By Waxman on HP - Apr 24, 2013

There is a lot to like about the HP Pavilion HPE h8-1360t and other reviewers have mentioned many of these so I won't repeat all of them. However, I must say again that it is "quiet". The quietest desktop computer I have ever owned (and I've owned several). My one caveat...While it is fast for the money and I'm happy with it so far... the hard disk data transfer rate (speed) is nothing exceptional. It scored only 5.9 on the Windows Experience Index and my 3 year old Dell was that good. I expected snappier performance in that department. If your looking for a speed demon gaming machine I wouldn't recommend this one. (Also if you were to install some high end graphics cards you'd find the 460 watt power supply isn't really big enough). But to run Photoshop and do some pretty intensive office work it is fine for that.

Transfer from XP to 7 not totally straightforward but all went well. Spent time moving personal info like addresses and phone numbers to new utilities. Maybe there is help on this written somewhere, but we eventually got there on our own knowledge.

Solid desktop
5 Star Review   By gregdfw on HP - Apr 24, 2013

I'm really liking this desktop - the performance is really great. No technical problems with it so far. I have two minor quibbles: - Lots of HP stuff pre-installed which I had to uninstall. Nothing major, just a little inconvenient to clean it up. - Took about a month for HP to build it. They told me this up front, so it wasn't a surprise or anything, they met the dates they told me they would. It just would have been nice if I could have gotten it sooner. Overall I'm really happy with the final product though.

Great performance
5 Star Review   By Mwflb520 on HP - Apr 24, 2013

I purchased this unit, which was a great value. I was looking for a high speed computer desktop unit, and this definitely fits the bill. The Intel processor is extremely fast, and the processing speed for other functions (video, for example)I is also quick. Windows 7 is a user-friendly operating system, and is very convenient. So far, I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Outstanding
5 Star Review   By Karen70 on HP - Apr 23, 2013

I am extremely pleased with the performance of the HP I just received. I have ordered so many different kinds of computer products from your company, and all of them have given me great performance with little service required. However, the couple of times I had questions, I received again outstanding service. I will miss my HP slimline very much but I look forward to putting this new computer through its paces. Thanks again for all you have done for me through the years. You will always be a 5 star company to me.

Happy, but not totally...
4 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Apr 20, 2013

I've had my HP H8-1360 one month and except for a couple of quirky problems I've been fairly pleased. First of all, when I tried to transfer files, etc., using Windows Easy Transfer, this new computer refused to work. After many attempts I finally had to give up and just do some manual transferring. I have used Easy Transfer before so it's not that I didn't know what I was doing. Secondly and the most aggravating problem was when HP sent an update for the wireless lan board and all of the sudden my computer only wanted to connect to the internet via a wireless connection. I have a "wired" connection to cable which was working fine until the update came in. After much searching thru HP help I gave up and went to Google where I found a work around to get the computer to accept my wired connection again. I was about ready to pack this thing up and ship it back. Other than these two things I find the system to be fast and am pleased with it's performance. But overall since I've only had it for one month it has been a real pain in the neck. For a less experienced person this system would have been a total washout! And as has been mentioned other reviews the set-up instructions are scant to nothing. Again, a less experienced person would have been lost. HP lost me as a customer years ago but I thought I would give them another try......maybe I was wrong????

Nice PC
4 Star Review   By BillTX on HP - Apr 14, 2013

This is a nice PC. Windows 7 is much better option than Windows 8 (for now). The SSD isn't the fastest out there, but it is still pretty quick. The processor is also pretty quick. The stock keyboard is kind of weak and has the "B" key replaced with the Beats Audio B (really lame). Would have been nice if they would have put my two 1TB drives into RAID 0 before shipping, but it was an easy enough setup to do.

Great computer
5 Star Review   By ssycats on HP - Apr 6, 2013

It took a bit of time to get it all set up--transferring files, setting up printers, downloading/updating drivers, and getting all my devices to work. Now that is it all done and up and running it seems to be very fast! The boot up time is very quick. I can run several websites at one time without any problems. I also use mapping programs without any issues. I do some work with photos, videos, music, and movies. My older Pavilion just couldn't keep up. It was a great computer but it was time to upgrade.

For the long haul
5 Star Review   By DoctorV on HP - Apr 3, 2013

My wife and I are retiring soon. Last year I got myself an iMac and this year I got her a PC. Not any old PC, but one that mirrors the configuration I decided upon for my Mac: it has a solid state drive, meaning even Widows boots up pretty quickly. It has a huge secondary drive for all the data files, and I got her the 27" screen (just like mine) that makes her old one look pretty small. The 12GB primary memory helps everything work well together. The software and special HP-supplied utilities were pretty impressive too. Apple has been so far ahead of the PC world for so long that it's a pleasure to see a built-in backup and restore option, gorgeous wallpaper and screen saver art, and an interface to the HP assistant (big question mark logo) that keeps everything up to date. This is not the first PC we've owned, not by far. But it's certainly the best one we've ever had.

NO install instructions!
4 Star Review   By Roadwarrior22 on HP - Apr 3, 2013

Had no problem setting it up. I had a little problem trying to get HP officejet 5510 to finally work, but when I remembered how to install a printer the right way, then it was no problem. there are NO instructions on how to setup anything. If you have never setup a PC before...ASK SOMEONE WHO HAS!. It will save you HOURS of trying to get it done on your own. I have own computers since my Commodore 64 and I still needed to go on line to get help. WIN 7 on my laptop runs a lot smoother than my desktop and customer service does not know why. They stated it could because of the different processors. I have AMD on the desktop and INTEL on the laptop. I am still tweaking the setting on it get it where I like it, so in a few days it should be fine. Overall, for what I use it for, both for work and pleasure it is fine. Not great, but fine. I would buy again without any hesitation!

Terrific Value and Performance
5 Star Review   By jlw518 on HP - Mar 28, 2013

I've owned 6 HP Desktops since 1996, with some good and some bad experiences. This is number 7, and it seems to be a winner. My last HP was also one of their higher end machines, and it finally started to get a little tired after almost five years of very heavy use, so I thought I would see what they had to offer to replace it. I initially bought the AMD version of this (from Best Buy), which came with Windows 8. After using it for a day, I realized that Win 8 is a massive fail for my workflow, so I returned that machine and I came to the HP site to see if I could still get any with Win 7. Fortunately they had this one available, so I ordered it. It's EXTREMELY quiet, very fast, and the output to screen looks great. I benchmarked the thing with a couple of different programs, and the performance is approximately twice what my older machine does, so I am quite happy about that (makes working with Photoshop very fast). I'm very picky about my primary desktop since I have to use it for so many hours a day (primarily for photo processing but also for some general desk work), and I have been known to buy and return several different computers until I get one that really works for me. This one was absolutely perfect out of the box, so I am really, really happy with my choice. Advice: Great value for the money; excellent processor and performance; WINDOWS 7!!. Definitely the machine to get if you are in the market for a higher end computer.

Nice computer!
5 Star Review   By stovegirl on HP - Mar 27, 2013

When I ordered this computer for my desk at work I just wanted one that was gonna last me a while. My last HP ran out of room, thoough I had it for numberous years. My son laughed at me and told me I didn't realize HOW NICE this computer is and the great features it has on it! He was really excited about the beats audio and esp about the display capabilities with the HDMI! I'm still a little behind on the newer technology, but I expect this is a higher end HP pavillion! So far I love it! And by the way, I had a small issue with installing some software I purchased and the tech help was really great and friendly and helpful! I've owned other brands of computers but I always come back to HP!!

Overall -good for new PC owners
4 Star Review   By dogoftheunderworld on HP - Mar 26, 2013

The HP Pavilion HPE h8-1360t Desktop PC had mostly what I wanted in a new PC. It was priced competitively (based on similar offerings, including build-your-own). It had expansion bays for my extra 2 hard drives and extra DVD drive (not including the 1 HD & 1DVD I purchased with the system). Plenty of speed in the i7 quad processor and room for expansion in RAM. The only downside was some missing backward compatibility I was hoping for. It only has PCI-Express card slots and no FireWire included, so I had to buy a new PCI-E firewire card. No telephone modem (going to try and live without). I had to purchase a VGA adapter for the Video card (locally at the last minute to get my new system up and running). I went with Windows 7 (64 bit) (which I'm glad they still offered), but still had issues with my legacy software (favorite 16 bit apps) as well as hardware (canoscan usb scanner would not install), and a few other issues. Over-all, I am pleased with the performance, price, and usability. If I was a first time PC buyer (and not trying to update a 6 yr old XP machine), I'm sure I would have been extremely happy. There are still a lot of assumptions made (broad-band/wi-fi, firewire), but over-all a decent system with the room for expansion to make up for any upfront losses.

Smooth and quiet
5 Star Review   By lkprocom on HP - Mar 23, 2013

I have owned HP, Mac, Dell, ASUS, Toshiba and other computers over the years and this new HP is by far the best of them all. It is almost silent when it's on and overall performance is superb. This is the second HP Pavilion HPE Series that I've owned. I run mostly business software and both computers have Windows 7 on them.

Great system - expandable, quiet, fast
5 Star Review   By McGreg on HP - Mar 21, 2013

I purchased this system for three primary reasons: The power/speed of the latest I7, Windows 7 and the ability to expand. Upgrading the power supply provides me with the ability to add disks and/or upgrade the video card. The system is blazing fast and remarkably quiet. My old system almost required ear plugs when turned on - this system is so quiet you can barely hear it. Nice interior layout for dealing with things such as adding more disks - which was a snap. It may not be the smallest cabinet you can get, but if you want/need expansion capability I think it is a reasonably sized option. No issues of any kind as of this writing which is pushing the 30 day mark.

Satisfied overall with two exceptions
4 Star Review   By geekygeezer on HP - Mar 15, 2013

Machine was easy to set up and works well. Just two problems: (1) The top-side USB 3.0 connections appear to be 2.0. When I connected a new external hard disk for backups, it randomly failed to be recognized on bootup and kept reporting that it was capable of faster performance. I plugged it into a back panel USB 3.0 port and it performs flawlessly. An older 2.0 external drive works fine on a top port. All of the top ports have a mushy feel to them, especially the headphone jack. (2) User documentation is very poor. I never found any description of where the card readers are, but I found them by accident. I was able to install a second internal hard drive using documentation found on the web site. The pre-installed HP Support Assistant software is useful. With the above exceptions, I'm happy with the purchase. The computer is fast, quiet, and so far, reliable.

almost perfect
4 Star Review   By privateye46 on HP - Mar 15, 2013

Really fast and powerful, compared to my previous PC (from 2004). Really lacking in printed documentation to help the user set up. One flaw: at boot up, gives error message, "Rear chassis fan not detected, press F1 to boot." This is false. I can see the fan spinning. I can not find anything on line that addresses that issue.

Don't Bother With This
2 Star Review   By Jackhut on HP - Mar 11, 2013

I don't know if it's just me, but I keep having technical problems with everything I purchase. This PC was working fine for about 2 weeks. Then it started acting up. It would get to the Windows Startup screen and just freeze. After turning the machine off and then back on, I was given the option of doing a repair or starting Windows normally. If I tried the repair, it would get to a point and freeze up again. I have to re-start the machine several times, selecting the Start Windows Normally option, before it boots up. Now I'm afraid it'll get to the point where it will never boot up.

Enjoying the Peace and Quiet
5 Star Review   By greatscottie50 on HP - Mar 3, 2013

This computer is so quiet that I forget it's on. Much different from the other one that it replaced. The first day was difficult not being able to get into hotmail for some reason and other trials and tribulations, but once I got everything set to where I wanted it we became great friends. The biggest problem is not the computer at all, it's IE9, which crashes more then IE8. But time to grow up and try a new browser. The price was right, customers service has been excellent, so I'm very happy.

An exceptionally capable desktop
5 Star Review   By Bill43 on HP - Feb 27, 2013

I didn't realize how much time I had been wasting until I replaced my 10 year old competitive brand tower with this quick new HP. Set up was fast and easy, including files transfer from my old PC using an external hard drive. The only quibble I have is with the standard, fairly compact USB keyboard, which seems to encourage more fat-fingering of keystrokes than I am used to producing. I recommend that purchasers upgrade to an optional keyboard with a more ergonomic layout.

AutoCAD home office machine
5 Star Review   By GreenEarthLandArch on HP - Feb 15, 2013

I don't get caught up in expensive labels such as 'gamer' or 'workstation'. I know what I need a machine to do and proceed from there. This one replaces my former 4GB, 2.9ghz dual athlon HP home office machine and does a fine job as the new speed champion. I have 200mb photoshop files I sometimes work with and AutoCAD to PDF files I deal with every day, some bigger than others. This machines handles them well and is the sole reason why I had to upgrade. My former HP machine, which will now handle secondary work duties and double for home entertainment, has been a true champ which is why I decided to go HP again. I've had problems with Dell, Toshiba satellite laptop, and Compaq, but the old HP is stellar and I'm sure this one will be, too. I made some upgrades including Win7 Pro (Windows 8 is for the future and especially nice with touch screen, but not for me at this time), upgraded power supply for future component expansion, and backlit keyboard (which is nice for low-lighting conditions). I uninstalled some bloatware (minimal) upon setup like Norton, Adobe PS elements, Office 2010 trial version, etc., and began installing the software I use. Again, this machine is awesome. I am a Landscape Architect who does primarily commercial land development and planning/site design. The 3D graphics software I use is power hungry and this machine manipulates it with ease.

Fast computer, but difficult setup
4 Star Review   By JimJM on HP - Feb 13, 2013

I bought this computer for my business, which I run out of my home. I decided to go with HP because it offered many of the characteristics I wanted at a more reasonable price than most of the competitors. The delivery was pretty slow. It took over 3 weeks for the computer to be built and delivered. I wasn't in a rush, so that wasn't a problem. If someone needs it more quickly, however I wouldn't recommend this. I am fairly proficient at setting up a new computer, but since I hadn't had to do it in a couple of years, there were some new things that I had to acclimate myself with. With that said, the instructions that came with the computer were scant. The instructions that did come with the computer were basic symbols, with no written explanations. There were several cables that came with the computer that had no explanation given for their purpose. I still haven't figured out what they are, and I'm not sure if I have them plugged in to the correct ports on the back of the computer.

I'm extremely happy with my new HP - it is a top-of-the-line high powered desktop that came shipped with windows7 - a MUST for me. It does not have a 15 pin VGA display port, but a $2.00 DVI-I to VGA adaptor got my old monitor hooked up in seconds. I'd do it again!!

Excellent Value
5 Star Review   By Tipitoe on HP - Feb 12, 2013

This machine is an older model, but is configured with the latest specs and at a bargain price. I recommend buying the basic configuration and upgrading the memory to 16Gb. I also upgraded to an SSD, but this was unnecessary. HP places the system in the boot partition, so this machine boots in about 25 seconds and is close to the performance with an SSD which boots the same machine in 20 seconds. Very fast and stable. However, do not opt for Win8 unless you buy a touchscreen monitor. Upgrade the OPSYS to a Win7 version and a video card this becomes a real bargain at about $800 after coupons and discounts.

I have used this computer at work for awhile now. I liked it so much I bought one for home use as well. This computer is very fast. I run several memory intensive programs. It can handle everything I throw at it with its quad-core processor. The front sliding panel is slick. When I need to insert my digital camera SD card, it just slides down for access, and slides up to cover all the ports when not in use. Also like the usb connections on the top panel/cradle since we have the computer resting on the floor.

HP Got Another One Right
5 Star Review   By Danwrite on HP - Feb 1, 2013

My wife has had an HP Core i7 computer for 3 years now, and loves it a lot. So when it was time to retire my Gateway FX computer, I knew I wanted an HP. I chose this model because it came loaded with Windows 7. Frankly, I didn't want to go out and purchase a whole bunch of new programs just because I bought a new computer with Windows 8. (And yes, believe me, I checked and several of my budgeting and script writing programs would have REQUIRED new versions and that is expensive. Besides, I use my computer to work on, and I don't have time to go through a lengthy learning curve.) OK, enough of that. This computer rocks. First, it's quiet. I mean, it's silent. 2nd, it's fast. 3rd, it's sleek and good looking. 4th, it was the easiest computer I have ever installed. 5th, it has the most number of USB ports I have ever had -- and believe me, I need them. True, it lacks a Firewire port, but in the past 5 years I haven't needed one. Was worried because some people claimed the graphics card was weak, but I haven't noticed any problems, and everything is big, sharp and very vibrant. (I also purchased an HP R2240w monitor, and that is great!) I did spend a few bucks more for the 460 watt power supply, and I went with a 2, rather than 1, gb hard drive. But that's because I will be doing a lot of video editing. So, the computer is only a week old, but already I feel at home with it. So highly recommended.

3 Star Review   By essence on HP - Jan 31, 2013

i WAS SUPRISED TO FIND THERE ARE NO SPEAKERS IN THE TOWER.i WAS TOLD BY A TECHNICIAN i NEEDED TO GET EXTERNAL HEADPHONES HOW ANTIQUATED IS THAT./. i AM ACCUSTOMED TO SPEAKERS IN THE TOWER.. ON A DAILY BASIS I HAVE WEBINARS AND ADDITIONALLY I ENJOYED LISTENING TO STREAMED MUSIC AS i WORK .I SEE THIS AS A BIG NEGATIVE. I AM CONSIDERING RETUNING THE COMPUTER.

Good computer
5 Star Review   By sammy on HP - Jan 31, 2013

I wanted a good all purpose desktop running Win 7 and seem to have found one. I added a few features so it is not as cheap as buying at Sam's club. I also didnot want WIN 8 which you are locked in to at places like Sams. I was surprised to find ten USB ports 4 of which are USB 3.0.It was not filled with junk software that I had to delete, only Office 10 which I already own.I've only been using it for a week so I can't comment on longevity. I've had good luck with HP products so will contine to include HP in my considerations for computer products.

Great performance - Absolutely love the speed!
5 Star Review   By ChloeP on HP - Jan 31, 2013

I am 100% satisfied with the performance of this machine. It came with everything I ordered/needed plus a few additional items that have proved to be very beneficial. I do have 3 constructive criticisms, however. This particular computer case has some USB ports and headphone jack located on the top of the cabinet. They face the rear of the cabinet and are, due to the physical placement of my computer, difficult for me to use - I have to insert items by feel, not sight. The keyboard keys could be more indented - Not a big issue, just not what I'm used to. Finally, the keyboard does not have a traditional letter "B" on it. Instead it has the "Beats" logo. Again, not a major issue but I'm a sight typist and I do miss the large clear letter "B". Overall, I'm very happy with my new HP computer.

good pc - cheap video card
3 Star Review   By beachman on HP - Jan 27, 2013

I enjoy the speed of the pc but the allowable resolutions on my two monitors is unacceptable. one of the features on the box was the ability to run multiple monitors - it can do that but at unacceptable resolutions.

SSD slow boot up, fast otherwise
3 Star Review   By Cleveland on HP - Jan 24, 2013

I upgraded the drive to the hybrid SSD and secondary hard drive. I have an HP laptop with a similar set up that boots up in seconds. I was disappointed with the time it takes for this computer to boot up (>30 secs). It takes about the same amount of time as my Gateway desktop with a regular hard drive. Programs start instantly as expected. I prefer Windows 7 for desktops, so this one being cheaper than the Windows 8 version was a big plus.

Fast and friendly
5 Star Review   By Moonpie on HP - Jan 24, 2013

Very fast processor use with premere elements and photoshop, no lag time. Boots fast 45 seconds tops. I do not care for the lack of manual and backup disk. While I do appreciate the free limited word processor and spread sheet I wish it had included outlook. Eveyone wants to keep there information organized. Now I got to spend another $200.00 bucks. I appreciate not having a lot of garbage on the computer that I would never use. Salesperson at HP was sucessful in upgrading my system I was going to purchase with a much better but more expensive model, I am greatful he did because this computer is a rocket and will hold me over for a couple of years at least. Thanks Moonpie
