Great PC. Overwhelmed my expectations.
5 Star Review   By MultiPlatformer on HP - Apr 24, 2013

Most people who log comments and reviews online are primarily there for a negative experience and wish to vocalize it. Most and the majority of people don't leave positive reviews because they don't think about doing it. I've had 3HPs now. A netbook, a 2012 HPE with an I7 and now a 2014 h9-1440t with liquid cooling an i7 and gtx 680. I've had to utilize their support twice and everything went smooth and was remedied. I'm extremely happy with the builds and performance. I give them an A+. I'm a power user, gamer, video editor and educated in computer mechanics and most operating systems. PC enthusiast.

very fast but windows 8 is difficult to use
4 Star Review   By seeker3425 on HP - Apr 3, 2013

This computer is very fast and it starts up fast. You cannot even hear this computer running, it is whisper quite. Windows 8 is very hard to get used to and is difficult to use. I had to install a program to make it more like windows 7. Be aware this computer does not have windows media center and it is a $100 to upgrade to windows 8 pro with media center. That is my biggest disappointment about the computer, I figured because it had a tv tuner, it would include media center like my previous hp computers did. I wish hp would have put in bold letters it doesn't include media center! The tv tuner does work excellent and you can record through its own program.

Very complete machine
5 Star Review   By Ron37 on HP - Mar 29, 2013

Computer easy to set up, and begin using. (Windows 8 requires a new learning experience.) The only feature that I do not understand (there's no specific "how-to" booklet) is how to set up and then use the computer as a TV, otherwise all is well. A list of web sites where training for Windows 8 is available would be useful.

Excellent Machine
5 Star Review   By Kevd on HP - Mar 16, 2013

This machine demonstrates extraordinary performance with the Intel i7-3770K processor with 12.0 GB of RAM! Upon arrival I changed out the Radeon video card and installed an Nvidia 660 GPU and configured a multiple display setup with 3 monitors; everything works seamlessly. This machine is excellent at multitasking and will run Microsoft Flight Simulator X with the video settings at maximum effortlessly. This machine has great features and is worth every penny. I highly recommend this computer as HP has produced a superior product.

Great product, Good os
5 Star Review   By Winner1234567890 on HP - Mar 11, 2013

This computer has great hardware for the price, it runs smoothly and starts up quickly. I don't know why so many people are hating on windows 8, it really is just like 7 but with a full screen start menu. Also I've noticed that * tends to run much faster than 7, especially when starting up. I have used many windows 7 computers with better specs than this one, and none of them have started up this fast or run so smoothly. Also if you really want the classic start menu you can install software that give it to you.

Windows 8 is not user-friendly
3 Star Review   By edwin3541 on HP - Mar 9, 2013

I recommend this product with the following warning. If you have no choice but to buy a new computer with Windows 8 installed on it, then before buying it learn how to create user accounts in Windows 8 and the pros and cons of each type of user account. Right after you turn the computer on for the first time, you will have to create an user account. Otherwise you will not be able to use the computer. With prior versions of Windows several people could have accounts in the same computer without needing to use passwords. With Windows 8 you must always use passwords. If you accidentally get locked out of your user account, then you must have another device at home to get on the internet and go to the Microsoft website in order to gain access again to your user account. I tried protecting myself against accidental lockouts by creating a Password Reset Disk that does not require getting on the internet. I followed the instructions and created a type of user account called "local account" and still I was not able to create a Password Reset Disk. I clicked several times on the link that reads "Create a Password Reset Disk" in the Control Panel and nothing happened. I tried by going to the Start Screen, Charms Bar, Search, Settings and clicking on "Create a Password Resent Disk" and again nothing came up on the screen. I will have to rely to rely on a smartphone to gain computer access if I ever get locked out again, Which already happened twice in the short amount of time (less than a month) in which I have had this computer. I strongly suggest that you find out for how much longer Windows 7 will continue to receive support from Microsoft and that you buy the version of this computer that comes with Windows 7.

Great!
5 Star Review   By Turtle11 on HP - Feb 15, 2013

I was given the run around from almost everyone about what I should get for graphic design that I could afford and wasn't a Mac. I contacted HP and they gave it to me straight. I ordered my desktop system with all the specs recommended to be able to the things I wanted to do. I have had no problems with this so far. I already have a huge work load on my computer and it has not slowed, crashed, failed or let me down in any way. I love it!

Fast -- But
2 Star Review   By dave436uu8 on HP - Jan 27, 2013

Boot time and shutdown are fast. Windows 8 is terrible. Its built for touchscreens and if you don't use it on one then STAY FAR AWAY! It makes simple tasks take 3 extra steps. Why have or use a huge app desktop screen when basically they are just oversized icons. Waste of space and time. Unless you use multiple devices with win8 you will be outraged at this OS. I'm not a novice and I took the months to setup windows 8 and its terrible. MS will this change soon. Don't get stuck with this version. The TV software is a joke and windows media player isn't on win8 and can't be purchased for it unless you upgrade to pro then buy the media player software. Another big goof by MS. I could go on for quite awhile but just look for users reviews of Windows 8. Buy a new computer with windows 7 or wait for a huge revision and you'll be much happier.

Virtualization Support missing
1 Star Review   By HHF320i on HP - Jan 18, 2013

Although this ENVY will support 32G of RAM, it does NOT offer VIRTUALIZATION support in the BIOS. So it CANNOT be used to run virtual machines that use x64 OS. I have a $1500 boat anchor.

5 Star Review   By ryr2838 on HP - Jan 2, 2013

I've had this computer for 2 weeks now. It took me a little while to get used to windows 8, but once I did, I was glad I made the purchase. The computer boots up fast and runs very smooth. This is the best price I've found for a computer with these specs.

Awesome computer
5 Star Review   By rk104 on HP - Dec 27, 2012

This is my second computer as the first one arrived defective. HP, to their credit, promptly shipped me a new one on their nickel. Thanks for the great customer service! I have had this one up and running for a few weeks now and I am really happy with the speed and power of this PC. It is a little overkill for what I need a PC for but I didn't want to outgrow one for awhile and this should last me a long time with the large hard drive, lots of RAM and the fast CPU. The only negative I have noticed is the DVD door is not very smooth. Really pretty clunky, but as long as it opens and closes, I can live with it. Overall a very nice machine.

Great features at a good price.
5 Star Review   By WillardUT on HP - Dec 27, 2012

In the market to replace my 5 year old HP Desktop with improved performance and to retain a Windows Media Center capability. The pre-Christmas sale discount and 2-day free ship with most of the capabilities (lacked the Windows Pro to enable WMC) on the h8-1455 made the sale. Ordinarily, would not have chosen the 3.5MHz processor, the 2TB HD, 2GHz 7570 graphics card, or the Blue-ray player - so these were all pluses within my price point. Hope that HP/Windows continues to offer a bundled WMC capability.

Hardware vs Software
4 Star Review   By Bastian on HP - Dec 26, 2012

The hardware performance of this desktop is great - it's fast and quiet. The software setup is confusing and comes without a manual describing what HP loaded and how to navigate it - so I had to spend quite a lot of time figuring out what was essential to me and getting that to load the way I want it to and figuring out what I didn't want and how to get out of software applications that loaded. For some of those applications there was no "X" button. And, the Windows 8 will take some time to learn and isn't as intuitive as Windows 7. And, then there's the usual problem of figuring out what software is essential to run the machine and what I can uninstall safely. No manual or booklet describing these applications.

Very happy with my new desktop
5 Star Review   By Tracy1968 on HP - Dec 25, 2012

I received my new computer 2 weeks ago. It has the speed I wanted and can handle anything I've thrown at it thus far. I'm very pleased and will buy direct from HP from now on. Great customer service and price. My computer arrived in two days from my order day. The only thing I wish they would change is their antivirus software, I'm not happy with Norton at all and have removed it. Great computer, great price and great 2 year warranty. You can't get that from the stores without paying extra! Thanks HP!

Great Desk Top for the Price!!
4 Star Review   By Randy509 on HP - Dec 22, 2012

I've had this desk top for about three weeks now and i'm just amazed at all the features this model offers . Some of my favorites are the built in digtal tv tuner with remote control, also the smart phone remote control of pc. I also love the I Heart radio app with the customizable stations. The USB 3.0 connection worked great with my WD My Book Essential 3TB External USB 3.0/2.0 Hard Drive.

Great Computer
5 Star Review   By TJ2433 on HP - Nov 9, 2012

I've had my new computer for a week now and am very impressed. I use it for home office use, and home use with lots of photos and music. It is very fast! The only thing I miss is having LightScribe on the optical drive...easy enough to add with a second drive if really needed. I have also learned enough about Windows 8 now to start feeling comfortable with it...lot's of great features, works with my old MS programs, and looks cool. I may get a touch screen, but for now it is fine to use with a mouse. All in all, I like the h8 1445 very much. The HP org also did a good job of making the purchase and delivery easy.

4 Star Review   By Anonymous on HP - Nov 6, 2012

I am very happy with my new h8-1455. The speed of this computer is incredible and the amount of features for the price make it a very good deal. My only complaint is trying to figure out the new Windows 8 operating system.
