AMD Phenom X3 8650
3 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jan 16, 2011

The only processor line to utilize 3 cores, the Phenom X3 8650 attempts to strike a balance between number of usable cores and price. In reality a true Phenom X4, the 8650 contains a malfunctioning core which was disabled after manufacture. Features Socket type: AM2+ HT Speed: 3600MHz Core speed: 2.3GHz L2 Cache: 512KB x 3 L3 Cache (shared): 2MB Fab process: 65nm TDP:95W ... PROS: (1) value - a great compromise between price and performance (2) efficient - runs relatively cool with the stock heatsink (3) a great choice for a budget gaming build - all the processing power youll need for modern games (4) available for less than MSRP online (around $50) (5) great for video transcoding - an extra core means faster encoding with most apps ... CONS: (1) aging CPU - becoming hard to find (2) not much overclocking potential - comes with a locked multiplier (3) mediocre stock heatsink - its just a block of aluminum with a fan attached
