4 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jul 11, 2009

AMDs Athlon X2 5050e is a mid-range dual-core desktop processor, based on a Brisbane core. The CPU clocks in at 2.6 GHz, and boasts good energy efficiency with a TDP of just 45 W. It lacks some of the advanced technical features of AMDs higher-end models, however, like 45nm manufacturing and an L3 cache. The 65nm core relies on an L2 cache of 2 x 512 MB, and uses an older version of HyperTransport technology. It features CoolnQuiet Technology for reduced heat and noise output, and Enhanced Virus Protection for defence against some viruses. Features Dual-core 2.6GHz frequency 2 x 512KB L2 cache 45W TDP AMD64 technology Socket AM2 Supports MMX, 3DNow!, SSE/SSE2/SSE3/SSE4a Enhanced Virus Protection CoolnQuiet HyperTransport ... PROS: (1) easy to overclock (2) 45w TDP stays cooler than regular desktop CPUs under full load (3) fast enough for the majority of consumers (4) affordable ... CONS: (1) last generation fab process and processor architecture
