Strengths: Excellent overclocking capability, running very fast, stable and low heat!

This CPU is excellent. Having a XP3200+ CPU at price of XP 2500+. 512k L2 Cache and 333 FSB(overclock to 400) are very powerful. Obviously, AMD XP CPU with "Barton" core produces lower heat than old athlon XP CPU.

Strengths: Tremendous overclocker!

Great value. This chip and its brother, the XP 2600+ have been rated the best valued chip on the market (ref. Tom's Hardware). I have married this chip to the Shuttle Nforce AN35-Ultra with Kingston HyperX PC3200 and 3500 many times. This combo has no issues running a FSB of 200MHz. Windows recognizes it as an XP3200+. Note that the CPU's I have purchased do not overheat like others have stated below. When OC'd I have noticed the temperature range from 38 - 50 degrees depending on the load and with the stock cooler!

Strengths: Good CPU to start with, even better oc'd.

I have been running this CPU since June and have not had a problem with it. It is oc'd to 11x176 and stable. It never goes above 40*c under load and I am using stock hsf. This is on an MSI KT4V-L mobo, 768mb Elixir DDR333, Gainward GF FX 5600 256mb, 60gb Hitachi 7K250 & 30gb Maxtor DiamondMax 7200rpm. All voltages are stock. I've got 1gb or Elixir DDR400 on the way and looking to pick up an NForce 2 board to oc this chip to 3200+ speeds. I'll write again after I complete this.

Strengths: Excellent processor (as usual) from AMD. These Barton series processors should stand the test of time before we all someday go with 64-bit procs.

Weakness: None in 9 months of service (I got mine the week they went on sale).

I've built two systems with this 2500+ ~ one with an Asus A7N8X Deluxe and the other with the excellent MSI K7N2G-L motherboard. Both of these computers have performed flawlessly over the past months and I highly recommend this particular AMD processor to those wanting to build a system with a lot of power and flexibility. I have my processor slightly bumped to 1.96Ghz and will probably leave it there. Since running Sisandra benchmark on the processor and seeing it perform to Intel's 2.4, I see no need to push it further!!!

Strengths: Cheap and overcloaks great

Other reviews say the xp2500 runs hot. I have a thermaltake 7cu+ and always run it on its low setting and the cpu stays under 40 degrees celsius always. Even when I overclock it to and xp3200 it stays under 40 degrees. If you are pushing up the voltage that is what is heating up your cpu plus higher voltages will kill cpu's.

Strengths: Great CPU, absolutely no better CPU for the dollar, until Athlon 64 pushes the XP 3000+ down in price, that should be fun to OC as well. Fantastic stock cooling, better than some low end aftermarkets.

Weakness: None yet

For a standard processor for most, this is a great bargain and a quick CPU that stays cool as long as your case has more than two fans. For OCing it gets a ton of mixed reviews. Mine is at 12.5 X 169 so 2114mhz and only slight increase in voltage with stock heatsink/fan. Still running temps under 55C even under load. Worst mistake I made was buying pc2700 ram because I got it way cheap, so I'm limited by that, otherwise with hi-tech cooling this particular cpu could be pushed farther. BUY this CPU if you are in need of a CPU now. It's fast, stable, and cheap. If you can wait, once the athlon 64 hits mainstream, you might see a drop in XP 3000 and 3200+ chips. Strengths: Its a AMD-- This processor, like all AMD processors, are flawless.

Weakness: None-- its an AMD!

This CPU, I purchased for $110, and has since dropped under $90 is the best value for the buck. I have overkill fans in this machine. I have yet to overclock this CPU, and the CPU temp is always below 110 degrees. I have found no need to overclock-- it ROCKS. Go AMD!!

Strengths: Good overclocker, good value

By only changing the parameters in the BIOS, I got my 2500+ to run stable at 3000+ speed (changed FSB, multiplier, and core voltage). Also, the CPU temperature stays relatively low with the stock fan, running around 40 deg C when doing simple tasks, and running under 60 deg C when playing games. Overall, I think this is a great value considering the easy overclockability.

Strengths: AMD OC'ing king !!! Going at XP3200+ speeds and more !!!

Weakness: none at all !!!

I have this baby for 3 months now . My system: AMD XP2500+ 1.83Gig (AQXDA) @ XP3200+ 2.2Gig Asus A7N8X Deluxe rev2.0 Radeon 9700 Corsair Twinx 1024 PC3200 2 X 80 gig Seagate HHD 2 X 120 gig Maxtor Sata Yes it's running at XP3200+ speeds like a baby !!! Settings 11*200 - 1.75v Vcore Yes , only thing I did was in the bios settings going for 400 FSB. So now this XP2500+ fsb333 is running like XP3200+ fsb400 and i only have a 2°more then before. (45° Idle and 53° Load) I still have a zalman CNPS6000-CU with a 120mm fan. But when i have my watercooling this baby is going to run at a 2500 MHz for sure ! This baby CPU rocks like the XP1700+ did some time ago in Oc'ing !!!!!!!!!!!!

Strengths: Very FAST. 333 FSB, 512kb L2 Cache,Price, and stability and performace. This CPU really Kicks hard Dude...

Weakness: Just Gotta have one! That's My Weakness

I am building a system myself and I had to go with AMD. I have always use AMD and they have NEVER let me down.. EVER I have read a lot of reviews about this CPU and let me tell you. It's all true. I also did not have to spend a lot of money to get a decent systems. Here are my specs on the systems I put Together.. 1) Awesome AMD Athlon XP 2500+ CPU (retail box) 2) 1 gig Kingston memory PC2700 (333) 3) 120 gig Western Digital ATA 133 (7200 rpms) 4) DVD/CRW 48x24x48 5) PNY 128meg DDR Nvidia Verto 5200 AGP (not the Ultra) 6) FIC AU13 Motherboard with the famous nforce2 chipset One thing to know is that I would definitely recommend the Barton 333 FSB over the Thoroughbred 266 FSB. The difference in price is around $10 I believe. Make sure you get at least 333mhz PC2700 RAM and a motherboard that supports 333 FSB and nforce2 chipset. You can also try the ASUS and MSI. The gigabyte boards are not recommended since they overheat. So Why take a chance. Stick with what works. That's all I have to say. Get The CPU!!!! You won't regret it !!!

Strengths: Fast, stable, easy to overclock, inexpensive

Weakness: AMD CPU's have no weaknesses

Once and for all, I do not kow why ANYBODY buys Intel anymore. Intel chips run 3 to 4 times as much money as AMD's, they are no faster and they are no more stable than AMD. Yeah, AMD runs hotter than Intel, but so what? AMD chips are RATED to run hotter than Intel, the extra heat, as long as it's within the specified range, does not hurt the chip. If the extra heat bugs you, invest 5 bucks in a supplemental case cooling fan and cool it off, man. I have been running AMD since they came out and have never been let down, my early AMD's were just as fast, and actually more stable than Intel based machines that I have owned. Nowadays, AMD is at least as fast (in my opinion faster) than any Intel chip and they are 1/3 the cost of Intel (average). So buy 'em! They're good man.....

Weakness: none so far.

I just built my first computer, and this processor kicks much butt. I havent had one problem since it was built. I'm running it on an asus A7N8X deluxe motherboard and have since overclocked it to 2800+ levels. It still runs at about the same temperature (47C) as when it was stock. A great buy.

Strengths: Stability, Temperature, Overclocking

Weakness: None so Far

I am really happy with this CPU. I have it Overclocked to 2.2GHz and it runs cool and without problems. I am also using the stock heatsink that comes with it. I bought it along with an A7N8X Deluxe nForce2 board and couldnt be more pleased. Right now the combo can be had for about $250.00 for both. In my opinion there is no better bang for the buck.

Strengths: Total 640KB Catche, BUS-333MHz For Higher Perfomance

Take what I'm saying at face value. Installed retail version with stock HSF, etc. Runs surprisingly cool and quiet. Booted everything stock. Runs like a scalded dog. MSI K7N2 Nforce2 mobo with ATI Radeon 9500 PRO and 1G Samsung PC2700. Mobo ignores any multiplier locks. Set BIOS multiplier to 12.5, and system sez I'm running an XP2800+ @ 43C on High Performance settings. 3dMark2001 confirms. I am very pleased with this High tech CPU, Highly recomand.
