Strengths: Runs perfect in games, really fast,

Weakness: the fan is slow, and it gets hot up to 45c in 2-4 hours,

This cpu is one of the better ones out there, its good for running games or just typing up work, computer starts and turns off fast, I recommend this cpu to anyone who loves fast games,

Strengths: Price and depenable

Had problems at frist and fix it with a new board. it was a bad mother board. The Guy that says it is a bad chip is doing somteing wrong. If buy a vary vary slite chace he recived a bad chip they should exchange it. But it is normally the main board or bios or the programing it not done right. I have seen a compuer not work well or not at all with a fresh install. And then reprogram and it worked fine. don't do a quick format or a reistall. Do it the long way it works out for the best. P.S I have 22years experance it computers

Strengths: Price, Speed.

Weakness: No

I'm sure that AMD CPUs is best CPUs I've used, although it's too hot, but if you have a good heatsink, it is not a matter ! In some process, I tested, Intel CPUs is better than AMD, ex: when you are playing your music such a mp3, and you copy some files. With Intel CPUs, the sound is not "stop by stop" but with AMD, sometimes it stop for copying process, in this case, you need more RAM, this problem was fixed (384 Mb or more). Overall, AMD Athlon is a greatest CPU, because its price 'n' speed and it's easy for upgrade. Thank AMD !

5 Star Review   By member AlexanderAkulick - Mar 15, 2003

Strengths: Works like a champ with recommended components, overclocks to 1.7 GHz. without reseting multiplier or voltages.

Weakness: 266 side bus and locked multiplier hamper overclocking. 2500 up chips now have 333 side bus. Use only if your board supports no more than 266 side bus, 1800xp, and/or on budget.

I won this chip and a Gigabyte GA-7DX rev. 4 motherboard from AMD so the price was fantastic. I paired it with Crucial 256mb. Reg. ECC. PC 2100 and a Visiontek Geforce 3 Ti 200 AGP video card, a Hauppauge DTV, a USR 5610B V92 modem(a mistake), and two Maxtor 80gb.hard drives in an Antec SX1030B running Windows XP PRO. Later I found a larger power supply was needed for the Visiontek card and an ATI 9500 PRO video card plus 1.5Gb. of ultra pure Winbond memory to be more compatable with the GA-7DX (which I also upgraded to the GA_7VAXP later) and the AMD supplied cooler was in-adequate. After changing to the ATI,a "True Power" power supply, and an Aeroflow by Vantec chip cooler, I had rock solid performance at 1.7GHz. even though it was never bad at the stock 1.5GHz.. With the multiplier unlocked I am sure it would clock much higher with only air cooling and better unbuffered memory. This is an excellent chip, you need only to pair it with the proper components and software just as any other chip needs. ***UPDATE*** See my review of the 3000XP for what I finally got from this 1800XP!

Strengths: AMD,ABIT,ATI,APACER,AVC,AUDIGY,ALTEC LANSING AND FERRARI! All of this is THE BEST!!!

Weakness: The heatsink in this package is very small, but still can overclock.

Why Ferrari always win because it's power by AMD. After bought the AMD Athlon(tm)XP 1800+ 1.53GHz I feel the power is giving me more than enough waste power. This processor rendering the 3DStudio and The Maya is faster than my old P4 2GHz, Intel you're waste my money!HUH! Strengths: price

Weakness: functionality

I bought this processor for use with an MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU motherboard and Windows XP Professional. I works fine at 100MHz(200FSB), but it will not stabilize at 133MHz(266FSB) and it was especially manufactured for the Windows XP operating system. I don't recommend it to anyone. The heatsink/fan that is stock, heats up too much. You can't upgrade to a cooler heatsink/fan without voiding your warranty. RMA's take way too long. Piece of junk!!!

Strengths: FAST FAST FAST.

Weakness: SOme times has problems with a small number of applications But I think the fault mostly lies with the programs

No complaints here, I can have 10 different programs running including 2 or more video and games and the CPU usage will be at 40% the only limiting factor is my ram so I think I'll stick with this processor for some time. If ya want something for a good price that'll go nuts for games and graphics, this is the one

Weakness: I bought this chip and it worked for 2 nights the stock cooler is NOT enough to keep it from burning up when you apply a load onto the chip

i will not use amd products agin as i had it for a short time and i was on a tight budget and i had heck trying to RMA it

Strengths: Super performance, super possibilities, horrific for every game

Weakness: It heats like for The World Cup!!! I feel 60 degrees Centigrade!!!

I've bought this CPU a day ago and I'm very satisfied. Every game flies on my computer now.I had Intel Pentium III Processor 500Mhz and I can say that Intel sucks!!! This processor is the best what you can buy(at least by the end of the summer)If you don't have AMD you don't feel the world as it is.The more thing I can say is "AMD is the best"

Strengths: Performance, Speed, Price

Weakness: Exposed core, Heat disipation (All CPUs Itel and AMD)

One blazing cpu. Clock cycle for clock cycle beast Itel hands and feet down. Read mother board and CPU intallation documents prior to installing. Do not install with out proper grounding or zzzzzzt, poof, bye bye money.

5 Star Review   By member Baron_Samedi - Jun 10, 2002

Strengths: Speed, sheer power, stability.

Weakness: Haven't seen anything I can classify as a weakness as yet...

I upgraded to this cpu from a Celeron 700. Since I've had the Athlon, I've noticed (as you'd expect) an amazing difference in performance. When playing FPS games for instance, I'm getting almost double the frame rates compared with the old (LAME) Celeron. Even just booting up my PC is faster now, it's up and ready in about 20 seconds. I paid $230 (Australian)for this cpu (boxed with heatsink and fan) and is the single best item I've bought for my computer in the last couple of years. I'd recommend to anyone to buy one, forget Intel, buy the best...

Strengths: Good peroformance

Weakness: Direction for setting up the heat sink are wrong!!!!!

I love the chip but the damn directions to setting up the heat sink almost cost me a motherboard and/or CPU. They don't tell you to lock the lower clasp first before trying to lock the upper one! That's what I get for following the direction to the "T".
