I like the radio play 300
4 Star Review   By member dudley810 - May 2, 2010

Strengths: channel 107.9 works good for me.

Weakness: Only 3 channels to choose from.

Works better than the other monster ones that plug / charge the ipod nano 5th gen. Plus this one will work with any audio device.

3 Star Review   By member bobman50 - May 23, 2009

Strengths: Easy to use and set up.

Weakness: Sound quality is marginal.

I suspect that how well this device works depends more on your vehicle and it's stereo system than anything else. The sound quality I get is marginal. I mostly listen to news/sports/talk and I would say it's adequate for that purpose. If I were really into music or was an audiophile, this product would not be acceptible.

Good product if you use it in the right area.
2 Star Review   By member rectangular - Jun 20, 2008

Strengths: Fairly easy to use.

Weakness: Sound quality in a city with lots of stations not very good.

Unless you live in a place with only a handful of FM stations, I would not suggest getting a device like this. Urban consumers are better off investing in a CD player that has a line-in connector for using an MP3 player.

Better than Others FM Transmitter for Non IPOD Users
4 Star Review   By member reemagupta - Jan 15, 2008

Strengths: Decent Quality and built. Good Manual. Good Warranty. Less static than others.

Weakness: little difficult to setup. Buttons too close.

I have 2 of these and I like it. Quality is good but not as close as its sibling product for Ipod. Button is little close to each other. Setup could have beet little easier. Much better quality compared to others such as Belkin. Good warranty of 2 yrs from Monster Cable.

Monster Cable RadioPlay 300 FM Transmitter
4 Star Review   By member fates - Nov 23, 2007

Strengths: Good quality sound broadcast to your stereo. Access to entire FM band. 3 programmable presets.

Weakness: You will still get some signal interference occasionally.

A few times it locked up on me and I had to unplug it to reset it. In a big city there is no way to avoid static. If you don't have an auxiliary port or tape deck in your car for a tape adapter, then this is a great affordable solution.

Very strong receiver
5 Star Review   By member crazyjediman24 - Nov 23, 2007

Strengths: good reception, exceptionally easy to use

Weakness: hard to find free radio bands in the city, sometimes has lots of static, doesn't handle deep bass very well (classical music)

I have had a very good experience with this transmitter thus far. It's easy to use, very portable, and I find myself using it everyday. My only complaint is that the signal is rather weak in city conditions, but that is simply because there are so many competing signals in the city. In the suburbs, and especially in the country, this transmitter performs superbly. I highly recommend it.

Monster Cable RadioPlay 300
5 Star Review   By member SGV - Jul 25, 2007

Strengths: Good radio connectivity and sound fidelity

Weakness: The device gets warm to hot with extended usage,

I was initially skeptical of this as a viable lower cost alternative to a line in for MP3 device playback in the car. My son had used a friends and indicated it worked well. We have had excellent results using it in both our Toyota's. The sound quality is very good. We paid approximately $25.00 delivered for this item. It was sold as OEM. As a result it came in a clear plastic bag with no fancy packaging. If one does not have a line in for the car audio system this is a reasonably priced alternative that provide good performance. I would highly recommend the device and the seller.

1 Star Review

Weakness: All

This is not even the product that I ordered. I was supposed to get the monster-300. It looks like I got a similar product or the same product that was refurbished. I am completely dissatisfied with the way this company portrays themself as well as how they make the customer happy. The product took almost 1 month to arrive at my house and when it got here it was a completely different product.

Monster Cable RadioPlay 300 FM Transmitter
5 Star Review   By member BKAu - Jun 24, 2007

Strengths: Excellent transmittion.Good sound quality

Weakness: Station reset every once awhile.

All in all, a very good product. It sounds like as if it is coming from the radio station. Sound qulity is excellent. Power line closed by can affect the transmittion. You have to try different settings - some are definitely better than others in your area.

Monster Cable RadioPlay 300 FM Transmitter
4 Star Review

Strengths: Very clear sound out of car FM radio. Recessed buttons to control FM frequency.

Weakness: Set FM frequency frequently changes.

I lost my previous iPod charger/FM transmitter so I bought the Monster Cable RadioPlay 300 FM Transmitter. It is smaller and has clearer sound qualities than my previous one. In addition, the buttons to control which FM frequency it will transmit on are flush with the surface of the RadioPlay 300. That is important because my old one had raised buttons that often got inadvertently hit as it is being moved around inside the car, causing me to lose the signal on the radio. The one bad thing about this is several times a week I have to reset the transmit frequency to 107.9 MHz (no local radio stations on it) because it has defaulted back to 102.2 MHz. This happens only when I first get into the car. In my car the power socket I use for the RadioPlay 300 loses power when the car is off. Another feature of RadioPlay 300 is after you press the stop button on your iPod, 5-15 seconds later the FM transmitter shuts off so you then get static on the radio. Slight inconvenience but overall this one is much better than my previous one. Very good sound quality is the take away.

Great sound quality
5 Star Review   By member jackm2211 - Jun 7, 2007

Strengths: Strong signal enough to beat local radio station in your car

Weakness: Price... but it is worth the money you pay

I have been looking for FM transmitter for a long long time... I used to have Belkin with four channel selector for a while, but the sound quality was really bad. Then my friend told me about the Monster. This FM transmitter produces really strong signal . Of course, it sometime can even beat the strong local radio station signal. For blank channel, it works flawlessly. The controls are very easy. You hold "M" button for while, and it let you change channel with +/- buttons. Then, you press and hold "1", "2",or "3" button for a bit.... The channel is memorized. It also has a dim function to reduce the LCD light brightness... Great product... you'll love it. Added: I have found charging cellphone or MP3 player nearby can cause sound interference...

Good buy
4 Star Review   By member youthieguy - Apr 18, 2007

Strengths: Being able to set any radio frequency. Preset stations. The part that plugs into the cigarette lighter is small. Good clarity.

Weakness: Only having three “quick access” stations to choose from.

I think that the Monster Cable RadioPlay 300 is a great transmitter. I live in Chicago where there are lots of radio waves to compete with but this fm transmitter works great. I love that I can pick any radio frequency that I want but the down fall is that there are only three “quick access” stations. To be honest I liked my RadioPlay 200 better in the fact that I had eight “quick access” stations. I love that the piece that plugs into the cigarette lighter doesn’t stick out very far. The cigarette lighter in my car is right over the cup holder and when I had another fm transmitter it stuck out and blocked access to the cup holder, this one doesn’t. Over all I would recommend this to anyone but if the number of available frequencies is not an issue I would say to save a few bucks and go with the Radio Play 200. They are both great products.

A Decent Product
3 Star Review   By member harshmelo - Mar 31, 2007

Strengths: Gets the job done, and it is Monster®, for those that don't know the capabilities of Monster®, it's always the best.

Weakness: Not the greatest quality in the world when compared to the chord especially made for iPod, and a bit of sound distortion every now and then.

This product works, but it's not the greatest. For all you iPod users, I would suggest you go with the Monster® Cable that actually charges the iPod along with plays. My cousin bought the Monster® iCarPlay™ Wireless Plus which works WAY better. For those of you that use the Microsoft Zune™ they have Monster® CarPlay™ Wireless Plus Designed for Zune™ which also plugs into bottom. But for the rest of you, this product is still a good product and works perfectly fine, with the perfect station and depending on which car you are in and what type of antenna you are using.

Monster Cable RadioPlay 300 FM Transmitter
4 Star Review   By member Tazzi - Mar 19, 2007

Strengths: Works better then my other one (some cheapy)

Weakness: Nothing I can think of

No comments really. Wish my car just had a built in jack so that I could by pass this thing because here in the central valley (Sacramento Area) it is really hard to find dead radio frequencies.

Paid a lot less than mfg. suggested retail. Unit does pick up slight engine noise Possibly caused by different reception areas. But still worth getting.

A satisfactory, cheap solution to a common problem
4 Star Review   By member jar351 - Mar 8, 2007

Strengths: Full frequency spectrum, presets, pretty good signal, works with any mp3 player

Weakness: Difficult to scan through frequencies and set presets, signal wavers and picks up static whenever you jostle the cable

I've tried a few different transmitters (two cheapies for $30 retail and this one) and certainly the Monster Cable is the best. I live in a small metro area (Ft. Lauderdale) and I can always get a clear signal on at least one of my three presets. Clarity is good for a radio transmitter, definitely not CD quality, but a bit better than a strong radio station. When I drive to Miami, a larger metro area with more crowded airwaves, things tend to get a bit staticky, but not too bad. If you're too cheap to fork out for a special radio that connects directly to your mp3 player, and you don't have an iPod, this is definitely the way to go.

4 Star Review   By member jcadvocate - Feb 1, 2007

Strengths: easy assembly and works well.

Weakness: does not include a charger.

I purchased this for my husband and he said that it is working well in the car and that the only thing he wished it had was a charger so he didn't have to plug the MP3 up to the computer in the evenings. Otherwise it seems to work well for us.

Better than the other products
4 Star Review   By member yapy - Jan 8, 2007

Strengths: powerful signal

Weakness: not work well at busy area

I bought this item at the local RadioShack a few days ago and I must say this was the best transmitter for my MP3 player I've ever made. But I have to switch channels when coming into a busy area. I could not find a station that provided sound that satisfied me.

iPod Video won't work with this unit.
1 Star Review

Strengths: Design is top notch.

Weakness: Sound from iPos Video is garbled and awlful!!

Doesn't work with Video iPod 30GB. Works great with other MP3 players I have such as Creative Muvo's and Dell Pocket DJ. The sound is garbled and distorted.
