Simply Efficient
5 Star Review   By TheEasyWay on HP - Dec 19, 2010

This is a quality product. Once one gets to know their way around an HP and Windows 7 (both at the top of their class), the possibilities with this remote become HUGE. There are only two draw backs: turning the laptop on with it will only get one to the password screen and one can't create shortcuts on the HP MediaSmart Menu to be used by the remote.

Useful, but..
3 Star Review   By David1 on HP - Jun 9, 2010

I bought a really great PH dv7-3165dx which in my opinion is a fair price product. I am happy to find this remote inside and have to admit it is great idea. It is small easy to use and useful. Although there is a lot to advance... There are some things it does not do well: 1) Response - sometimes takes up to 3 push to get the effect.. 2) Reception - It only takes signal from front, what about all the way around? 3) Reach - it is only like 8-10 foot and anything in the way will block it. 4) Durability - have to be very gentle with it, its pretty fragile and buttons are really easy to break.. 5) Usability - it is useful, but could be much more useful. 6) Turn off/on - when laptop is off, it turns on, but when you try to shut it down its falls asleep, should be 2 buttons, to totally shut down and to put to sleep mode. Some ideas: Usability: I believe that remote should be able to fully control laptop. What I mean is that I should easily navigate trough desktop, start menu. Etc: without coming close to laptop find needed powerpoint file, lounch it and use it. Etc2: without coming close to laptop launch internet browser and easily navigate it (and even use virtual keyboard if needed).

HP Mobile Remote Control for Pavilion dv4/dv5/dv7
5 Star Review   By Triniman868 on HP - Apr 11, 2010

I recently purchased a HP DV6 laptop, which is fabulous, and it came with a cute little remote. HP, my hat's off to you on this item., it works fantastic, it's a dream to use when I'm watching my movies and/or Internet TV from my sofa and of course the design is brilliant. KUDOS!!

Horrible
1 Star Review   By Sabbagh on HP - Mar 19, 2010

Reviewers here must be kidding! I own an HP dv6, and this is the same that comes with the notebook. It's horrible. You press a button and it looks like it's going to disassemble (and it actually is, as the front part is detaching from the rest and I only used it twice). The button's response is terrible and fails all the time. Unforgivable. Does any know a better replacement?

Little Remote with Lots of Power!
5 Star Review   By Disney365 on HP - Dec 11, 2009

Hi, I recently purchased a HP DV6Z laptop and it came with this remote. I was amazed at what it could do. It's truly a great idea for when you're watching a movie. Who wants to use the mouse pad when watching a movie, they want to use a remote as if it were an actual tv you were watching the movie on. Truly, another remarkable invention by HP!! This must truly be why they call HP, "HP Invent". They are always creating a new and innovative product useful for people. Thanks again HP!!

Fun but ultimately not useful
4 Star Review   By abaddon4180 on HP - Sep 11, 2009

I would be lying if I said that I do not think this product is fun to use but, in the end, it is relatively useless to most people. The range is good, about 10 feet without obstacles, but if there is an obstacle then it won't work. I assume that it might be useful in giving a presentation but other than that there isn't much practical use for it. I do like how it fits into the wireless card slot. P.S. Has anyone figured out what the "DVD" button does?

cool but small
4 Star Review   By sngdebi on HP - Mar 21, 2009

I just got this computer. A nootbook 1225dx HP Pavilion dv4. This remote is too small. I worry it will be lost or broken soon. Plus my notebook did not come with a tv tunner. So now I guess I get my tunner as a perrifreal

Awesome little remote
5 Star Review   By Buster2823 on HP - Feb 21, 2009

This tiny remote comes in quite handy. It came with my laptop. However, it does not let me control internet streaming media, such as YouTube or Netflix Instant Watch movies. Small details, but it would be nice if these were supported. Also, the remote uses a CR2016 battery. I had hoped it was actually a rechargeable, and that it would charge off of the ExpressCard slot, instead of just sitting in there. Maybe HP will try these with a newer model. It would be really cool to have a rechargeable remote. No more batteries to replace. All in all, this remote gets the job done. I love it. In fact, I ordered my HP Laptop over an Acer with near identical specs mainly due to the remote. Not many Laptops with built in remotes out there.

Seriously Lacking Documentation
1 Star Review   By MNBill on HP - Dec 22, 2008

I was also surprised to find the remote contol packed-in with my new notebook. Unfortunately, no documentation was packed with it, explaining why I'm here trying to find out which set of arrows does what (it has several sets), which programs it works with (so far I've only been able to get a response from the power button, it didn't control a DVD I watched) and where to point the thing. It was nice to learn that it stores inside the notebook once I figured out how to remove the blank that was stored in that slot.

Better Than Apple Remote...
5 Star Review   By aac1988 on HP - Aug 20, 2008

This remote unknowingly came with my new computer. It has come in handy. I can skip through my music library use it while watching videos or best of all use it to control my powerpoint displays, and it fits right into the expresscard slot. It might not be the most beautiful pieces of eqipment but in this case function wins over form and shows that something doesnt have to look pretty to work.
