uncomfortable
2 Star Review   By kelly on NewBalance.com - Dec 26, 2013

I always order the same size from NB but for some reason this time it just ran small. I probably should have immediately returned them but gave them a chance. My runs are 11 miles and I attempted this twice. The shoe was just too small, but it also felt like there was no cushioning; like the sole of the shoe was hard, stiff rubber. My forefoot felt a little numb about 4 miles in.

This shoe solved my pain issues!
5 Star Review   By Ontheroadtofitness on NewBalance.com - Oct 15, 2013

This spring I started a running program but afterwards my feet would hurt and my heel would be incredibly painful. My feet would also slide in my previous shoes and when I tied them tightly I would eventually lose circulation. A NB salesman had me try a bunch of shoes and I bought the 860V3. My next run was a revelation! No pain at all. These shoes are nicely lightweight but very supportive. They feel snug and no more sliding. Recently I've taken to tying the laces very tight but I don't lose any circulation. Now I'm working on building up my mileage.

Not as good as previous versions, NB should stop changing things
3 Star Review   By maryjane on NewBalance.com - Aug 22, 2013

I have been wearing the 860 and previous versions for about 6 years and have been happy until this most recent upgrade. I am hard on my shoes, so I typically go through three or four pairs a year and this is the first time I have felt dissapointed by the product. the shoe runs a tab bit smaller and narrower, which by itself would not be a problem However there are some subtle changes that I find disturbing. The shoe laces that came with the shoe are a good 2 inches shorter than the previous versions. Since I use a lace lock system at my ankles, the laces were too short and I was forced to cannabalize a previous pair of shoes. Also, I bought the pink and silver, everytime I get wet feet, my ankles and socks are stained bright pink from the inner liner. Bottom line, I wish they had just left them alone...but since they are still the best shoe for my running style I will probably continue to purchase them until I find a suitable replacement shoe.

Incredible difference!
5 Star Review   By loveofmustangs on NewBalance.com - Jul 30, 2013

I've been running for a while now and I kept getting shin splints. I was constantly purchasing different types of Saucony's and while they're comfortable, they're what you'd expect. I tried the 860 on and went for a run and WOW what a difference. I couldn't feel me striking the ground it had great cushioning, it's light and fits great. Not a fan of the appearance but I'm going for comfort so I'm very happy with my purchase. The shin splint problem seems to have disappeared as well.

Low quality, not worth the money
1 Star Review   By malsawood on NewBalance.com - Jul 29, 2013

I only put about 200 miles of running on these trainers, and they fell apart. The mesh separated from the rubber outsole and now they have to be replaced, prematurely. They fit well and were correct for my feet, but they physically fell apart and I cannot use them anymore. 1 out of 5: Do not recommend

Narrower than the 860v2
3 Star Review   By Carrie on NewBalance.com - May 17, 2013

Just a heads up for runners with wide feet--I've been running in the 860v2 for a couple of years and the 2E (yes, 2E!) width has worked very well for me. The 860v3 looks great, but the toebox is narrower than the previous version, so I had to return them. Great shoe, but if you're used to the v2, you may not like this shoe as much.

great stability with my very flat feet
5 Star Review   By tallgirl9175 on NewBalance.com - May 5, 2013

I am 64 years old & enjoy a 5.2 mile run almost daily now that the weather is nice. I need excellent stability with my wide, flat feet & the 860 series does the job. I got the 860 last year & was very happy with it. Then, as usual, I wear down the heels at a steep angle. So I got these. Just wish the heels would last much longer.

Break Them In
4 Star Review   By 2manyshuz on NewBalance.com - Apr 2, 2013

Purchased during a shoe crisis of sorts. In hindsight I had tackled a half-marathon too early in my 15K race training and two weeks later felt I needed new shoes--I had been running in a very comfortable slightly-supportive shoe at the time. So.....I chose the 860v3s because: a) I was able to go up a size to get the toe room needed on the larger of my two feet AND b) maintain a good snug fit around the mid-foot. Over the past three weeks and various distances up to five miles, the shoes will feel stiff after I've been running for awhile, then they feel okay again---during the same run. I'm experimenting with my usual heel cups, taking them out at times and I've added some older cushioning inserts at other times. So far, I feel as though the stiffness is not an increasing problem; I just haven't worn genuine stability shoes for a good year or so. I'm 5'4", 133 lbs, not an elite runner just your everyday 33:00 5K finisher. I train for one or two longer distance races every year so I will be running 8-12 miles occasionally in training. I think these shoes will be good for weekend long runs, rotating my softer shoes for shorter runs on occasion. I'll update this review as time goes on, but, I think these shoes are working for me.

An American-made shoe at a good price with a great fit.
4 Star Review   By opalj9 on NewBalance.com - Dec 28, 2012

I bought this shoe yesterday and it seems to be a very good shoe for the price. I'm not a runner but was looking for a comfortable shoe with plenty of stability to replace my old sneakers for walking and working around the house. These shoes are very light and definitely provide stability. I typically wear a size 8 or 8.5 and I ended up getting these in an 8.5. I have a narrow heel with low foot volume, but these fit well--snug but not tight across the widest part of my foot. The uppers are mesh that keeps your feet cool and dry. Another plus is they are made in the U.S. I wore them most of yesterday and all day today and, so far, I really like them. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because I've only had them two days and I'm not sure how they will wear.
