Duracell CEF80N does not work
1 Star Review   By member boband99 - Feb 28, 2008

Strengths: Does not work

Weakness: Does not work

No matter what batteries I try to charge (the 4 Duracell AAs that came with it, or other NIMH batteres, I get only the flashing red light...sometimes slow flash, sometimes fast, sometimes no lights at all. That's it.

Duracell CEF80N 1-hour charger with included 4 AA NiMH 2050mAh batteries => GOOD ONE!
4 Star Review   By member AlexSvenson - Jun 28, 2006

Strengths: STRENGTHS: Worldwide input voltage 100-240v; Charges either 4 AA or 4 AAA at a time; Indeed takes 1 hour to charge; Reliable brand; Detachable power adaptor with super long 6-feet cord; Includes 4 AA

Weakness: WEAKNESSES: Charges only NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) rechargeable batteries; Bulky because it comes with power adaptor; Flimsy AA to AAA switch; Included batteries are 2050mAh; Unit is Made in China.

Overall I’m happy with my purchase. Duracell is a very well known and reliable brand. It charged 4 AA batteries in exactly 1 hour. Included 4 AA NiMH 2050mAh rechargeable batteries are not high capacity but at least are made in Singapore. Charger doesn’t overheat batteries when charge is done. Batteries of course get a bit warm but not hot to cause you a burning, at least with US input voltage. I saw in Wal-Mart a new Duracell 8 pack AA NiMH 2650 mAh rechargeable batteries. Purchasing them will be a good idea because I haven’t seen a higher capacity yet. While detachable power adaptor makes this unit bulky and a bit heavier, its long 6-feet power cord offers you flexibility of using any wall outlet in your house and placing the unit 6 feet away from it. Charger has 4 red led lights which shows charging activity for each battery. EXPERIENCE WITH OTHER CHARGERS: I also have a very good experience with Kodak Max K6000C 1-hour charger, which is supplied with 4 Kodak AA NiMH 2100 mAh batteries. It has also worldwide input voltage and it less bulky because it doesn’t have power adaptor but has only a long detachable power cord. However it took about 2 hours or more just to charge 4 AA NiMH 2100 mAh batteries. You can only charge 4 AA or 2 AAA batteries at a time. But it was able to charge both NiMH and NiCd (Nickel Cadmium) rechargeable batteries. Although I never used nor seen NiCd batteries it is good to have an option to charge them as well. In sum, it has good performance and batteries keep charge very good, just charge time is more than an hour. However, we had unpleasant experience with Sony 15-minute charger because supplied 4 Sony AA 2500 mAh for some reason don’t hold charge. Also, that Sony charger had only 120v input voltage to use in US but not worldwide. CONCLUSION: Duracell CEF80N 1-hour charger is a very good charger with worldwide input voltage, good performance, and good overall built quality. I strongly recommend you choosing this particular charger over other rival models or 15-minute chargers.

One of the Best Chargers in the Market
5 Star Review   By member Enthusiastic - Aug 26, 2005

Strengths: Compact Size

Weakness: Nothing specific

Bought one at Staples and used the first time and since then never bought normal batteries. Works not only with Duracell but with other branded rechargeable batteries. Key feature is that "1 Hour" which becomes handy when needed.

Duracell AA/AAA Charger Kit Review
3 Star Review   By member tqadir - Jul 15, 2005

Strengths: Dual Voltage, Very Fast Charging, Batteries can be charged individually.

Weakness: Bulky. Once you plug in the Power adapter it takes couple of seconds to show the power status light on the charger, its not instant.

This is a good charger with a very fast charging. Once the Charging is completed, the individual status lights turn Red to Green so there is no need of guessing when a battery is charged. The Kit comes with four "AA" NiMH batteries. Its a bit unesy to take along the Charger with the power adapter, it would have been great if they could have implemented the power adapter in Charger itself. Once you plug in the Power adapter it takes couple of seconds to show the power status light on the charger, its not instant. A slide swith on the charger is used when charging NiMH and NiCad Cells. This Charger can be used for Charging "AAA" batteries as well. Dual Voltage is a big plus. Overall, this a very good Charger.

4 Star Review   By member rameshraju - Jun 24, 2005

Strengths: Charging Speed

Weakness: No International support.

I am happy with the Duracell Charger. The batteries also hold the charge well. The speed at which it charges it makes the batteries very hot. I am using these batteries in the Canon A 85 camera and it holds the charge for very good time. Usually I take around 100 - 150 pics and I have not seen any problems.

Strengths: quick, individual circuit for each battery

Weakness: A little bit too bulky

I got the black version from Staples.com. It comes with 4 AA DURACELL NiMH rechargeable Battery. I tested different brands of batteries, all are fully charged with an hour. One thing I am little concerned is that the battery gets really hot during charging process.

Strengths: Dual voltage, Fast charging, battery included

With the four high capacity batteries include, this kit is really a ready to use unit. I put the batteries in the charger and one hour later my camera got enough power. Now I am not worried about running out of batteries when using the camera. Each charging slot has a LED indicator indicating when the batteries is charged. Overall I recommend it.

Strengths: Quick, Dual supply voltage 110-220, charges AA and AAA batteries of NIMH & NICAD types, comes with 4 AA NIMH batteries, Smart Charger

Weakness: Faster chargers are available

I bought a few of these for the family and so far they are all working great. No complaints and very happy with the price I was able to buy them for. It works better than my other NIMH charger (generic brand) that I bought a year or so ago.

Strengths: Came with 4 AA rechargeables, both 120V & 220V supported, charge in hour or less, can charge AAA also.

Weakness: None that I have encountered.

The unit charges 4 AA or AAA batteries in a little less than an hour for me and has worked well with the Duracell NiHM batteries that came with it, as well as with the Duracell AAA batteries I purchased. It's also very easy to switch between AA & AAA charging with fold up/down brackets attached within the charger. There is also a switch that allows you to choose between NiHM and NiCad rechargeable batteries. I've never owned a rechargeable battery device before, but this one has been a very good first experience, and after using a coupon to get the price under $20, I think it was a great purchase. I would recommend buying this product.

This charger kit comes with four NiMh Duracell batteries and makes this kit ready to use. The 1 hour charger is accuarate and efficient. The batteries are not as hot as I have imagined. Strengths: Charged fast enough

Weakness: The batteries are a little too hot during rapid charging.

The charging is fast indeed, but the rechargable batteries are a little too hot during rapid charging. I wonder if it will cause damage on the batteries or make shorter life of rechargable batteries?

4 Star Review   By member Anonymous - May 18, 2005

Strengths: Performance as advertised.

Weakness: None significant.

Charge state is apparently monitored by microprocessor since charge time varies from cell to cell in same set being charged. Overall quick charge cycle although cells do heat up considerably. In my opinion, this product is a good value for the net price

4 Star Review   By member alaazz - May 16, 2005

Strengths: really fast: in about 45 minutes fully charged my 2300 and 2050 batteries. can charge 4 AA or 4 AAA at the same time. worldwide input for 100-240V. four lights to indicate each cell .

Weakness: If they can put AC and charger in one unit, that will be much more convenient

Summary: I like this charger very much and put my other 3 chargers into box. But I am not happy with their poorly designed product description: 1. "Charge Duracell batteries only", I hate this kind of monopoly, it is like a DVD burner manufacturer saying that you should only use my DVD, a bowl maker telling that you can only use it for noodle, not for rice. 2. What's "abnormal conditions"? over-heating, bad cells, or other possible things? 3. What will happen when green lights are on? automatically cutting off or doing trickle charge? Should I remove cells at once or put them there for best condition? 3. How do the charger find that cells are fully charged? (If I have 1800 mah or 2300 mah cells) I could not get answers for these questions, I hope they could improve their description later.

Strengths: Charges very quickly, can be used with both 110V and 220V so it is great for overseas travel, charges both AA and AAA batteries

Weakness: Slightly bulky compared to the other charger I have.

Staples had a great price on this item (charger plus 4 AA batteries) - with coupon it was $20 minus a $10 easy rebate. The battery charges very fast as advertised. Each battery has a LED indicator indicating when it is charged. Overall a great product.

Strengths: cheap and batteries included, fast

Weakness: size is a little big

It is a very good battery charger. But a little big. Also four 1800mAh rechargable batteries are included. I bought them for my digital camera. I have a Sanyo charger before. They are both very good. Well-made. And the batteries are definitely better than the Sanyo batteries I owned before. I really recommended them. It is worth the money.

Strengths: Fast charging, Comes with 4 Duracell AA batteries, charge both AA and AAA, 110V and 220V.

Weakness: Large

It charges relatively fast -- 1 hour. My old charger took 6 hours! It can also take both AA and AAA batteries. Although the directions for use say to only use it with Duracell brand batteries, I've been able to use it with other brands of NiMH batteries without any problems.

Strengths: great price deal at Staples

Weakness: none that I have noticed

this is my first fast charge type charger and NiMh type batteries and I was really impressed with how fast the batteries go from zero charge to full charge. The charger has bright red LED's for each battery and they turn green when done. Impressive light display! I would give it five stars if it also did AAA batteries so I wouldnt have to buy a seperate charger for those. I use these batteries in a digital camera.

Strengths: portalbe, easy use, supporting 110-240v

Weakness: no cover

I just bought this Duracell AA/AAA Charger kit with 4 rechargerable AA batteries from staples. We were going through one pack of 24 AA regular batteries every 3-4 weeks and I saw this one on sale at staples. I took the pludge and decided to buy it with a few extra packs of batteries. We go through so many batteries in our house with the children and so far these batteries have lasted an entire week on one charge. My daughter who is 2.5 carries her VideoNow Jr. around with her religiously and this was the one electronic that we kept going through so many batteries with. Also my digital camera is still on the same set of rechargeables for a week also. This was the best $30 I have ever spent and hopefully this will save us money in the longrun. This is also a very sleek eye appealing charger. It's small and compact, ideal for travel, and has a worldwide voltage of 100-240V. Lastly, there is a light that turns on when charging and it has an automatic shut off when the batteries are fully charged. Takes 1-2 hours for each charge.

Strengths: Fast charging. Comes with 4 AA batteries.

Weakness: None so far for the price paid

Bought this charger mainly because i was travelling to Europe and needed a charger that works on the 220 volts. This has been an excellent charger. I've owned other chargers that required about 4-5 hours to charge. This one is as good as any of the other more expensive chargers. Can't go wrong with the Duracell brand. Price paid for this is $10 after rebates.

Strengths: Pretty quick charging - 1 hour. Battery is not warm to the touch after charging. support 110 and 240volt. Good for travel.

Weakness: Wish the battery has a little high capacity - say 2400.

I'm not sure batteries still need discharge before recharging. Didn't see this feature there. My old MH C204 has that feature. But batteries started getting pretty hot in my Maha charger. Also would like to get something more compact for travel. Price is OK with Staples's rebate & coupon. Plus it's Duracell.

Strengths: Very quick charge and outstanding battery life. Duracell is a trusted name in the battery industry and this will not dissapoint. I have been a Duracell user for several years now and not failed me yet

Weakness: Price is a little high for this product now that the 30 minute chargers are out, they should consider dropping the price on these to be more competitive with their cheaper and cheap counterparts.

This charger is exactly what I was looking for and I couldn't be happier. The overnight chrgers are a pain when you need to use your electronic equipment right away. This will fit the bill for any users

Strengths: One Hour Means One Hour to charge all four batteries. I looked at some other 'quick chargers' and found that as the number of batteries being charge increases, from two to four say - the time required for charging increases as well. I looked at a Kodaka

Weakness: the battires get very hot very quickly...but happy with the price

I have these batts and charger and they will last about 4 hours in my digital camera with zoom and with the viewfinder on. They will last about 2 months in my wireless optical mouse, which with regular batts only lasts about 3 weeks. So I would say they were good batts. I paid about $27 (no rebates obviously) at wal-mart for the charger and 4 batts.

Strengths: 1. It charges really quick. 2. Comes with high capacity 2050mah batteries.

Weakness: Should have also packed the AAA batteries along with it too.

I chose this for my Sony Digital Camera as the ones that came with them are not good and have a low capacity. I tried these on the camera and was very happy with the life of the charge and also the speed of charge to my flash. Overall, a well priced NiMH set from Duracell.

Strengths: it is Duracell! Charges fast. Includes 4 rechargeable batteries.

Weakness: Gets pretty hot when charging so be careful.

In general this is a very good charger kit. I'd recommend it to anyone. My experience shows that it charges really fast. Many times actually under 1 hour (more like 40 minutes). But the batteries included are kind of out-dated (being only 1800mAh). Then again it should be enough for average digital camera usage, more than enough for everyday usage.

Strengths: batteries included, relatively fast charger, can charge both AA and AAA, works with for 110V and 220V outlets

I was travelling outside the US and needed a battergy charger that can be used with both 110V and 220V outlets. Most of the chargers I saw were only for 110-120V, but this one was rated from 110V to 240V so I snagged it. I already had rechargeable batteries, but the fact that this charger came with 4 AA batteries as well was a plus. I found this for $20 after $10 easy rebate, which was a pretty good price in my opinion, considering I needed it in a hurry and didn't have time to order it online. It charges relatively fast -- 1 hour. My old charger took 4 hours! It can also take both AA and AAA batteries. Although the directions for use say to only use it with Duracell brand batteries, I've been able to use it with other brands of NiMH batteries without any problems. I would rate this product overall a good buy, although you can probably get a similar product cheaper on the internet or at a popular online auction site.

5 Star Review   By member jessieqwert - Dec 22, 2004

Strengths: Fast charging, high power

Weakness: None yet

I chose this charger for my dad because I had good experiences using Duracell batteries in my Maha charger. I was pleased to see the Duracell charger seems to work on par with the Maha.

Strengths: Comes with high capacity 2050mah batteries. Quick charger, fully charges batteries in one hour.

I use this this charger kit for my digital camera, and it works very well. The batteries included are high capacity 2050mah Duracell cells. I find that I can get off several hundred pictures before the batteries are drained. The charger is very quick, the cells are fully charged in one hour. Overall, a well priced NiMH set from Duracell.
