Product Details

ELECTRONIC FLASH MACRO EM-140 DG is designed to work with both AF 35mm film and Digital SLR cameras of all-popular manufactures. The EM-140 DG Macro Flash is ideal for photographing subjects in fine detail when the shadowless mode is used, and is extremely effective for scientific and medical applications. Dual flash tubes can fire simultaneously or separately. Using only one flashtube creates modeling, which can give a three-dimensional feeling to the subject. The flash features a guide number of 14 w/ISO 100. The Modeling Flash function makes it possible to check for reflections and shadows before actually taking the flash picture. A wireless flash function is also available, where the EM-140 DG is used as master and the EF-500 DG SUPER as a slave unit for creating fine shadow details. High Speed Synchro and Exposure compensation functions are also available for advanced flash photography. 55mm and 62mm adapter rings are included with the flash. 52mm, 62mm, 67mm, 72mm and 77mm adapters are sold separatly.

Very Nice Macro Ringflash

Strengths: High quality, accurate, many lighting options, manual operation, mounting options

Weakness: Shoe seems a bit weak

Sigma's very fine flash equipment has transferred to this ringflash. I suppose one could use if for general flash, but it's made for macro shooting. Great Flash for Macro

Strengths: Creativity, flexible functions, strong flash light

Weakness: None

Sigma EM-140 macro ring flash is great for closeup photography. It has many flexible functions and provides a powerful flash. I mostly use the manual mode, which allows firing the left and right tubes separately and power adjustments from 1 to 1/64. It is fully compatible to my Nikon D200, and also uses a convenient source of power - 4 AA batteries. Highly recommend!

Sigma EM-140 DG TTL Macro Ringlight Flash

Strengths: Cost, Quality, 2 flash tubes.

Weakness: Not wireless... but it does not bother me...

The results are good. Since it has 2 flashtubes you could create some shadows when you want to avoid a flat result. But I can imagine that for ex a dentist likes an even result... than this is the perfect flash. I believe you can be creative with this flash and I would say this Sigma flash delivers a superb quality for its money! So my advice, buy with confidence, you will be amazed with the...
