Incredible Flash

Strengths: Very powerful, versatile, compact. There is no easier way to get slave flashes off of the camera.

Weakness: Manual could be better.

Being able to get a fully controllable flash off the camera is a wonderful thing. The versatility, power, and compactness of this unit are amazing. I'm on my way to buy my second SB-800. Yes it's pricy, but it does the work of units costing twice as much. Yes it uses batteries, but an extra set of AA 2500 mAh Nickel metal hydrides and a quick charger which can charge them in 15 minutes are pretty...

Great flash

This is a fantastic flash; however, if you have a D200 camera like me, just get the SB600. The SB800 really does not add anything to make it worth the extra cash.

Too expensive

Strengths: Guide number

Weakness: Very expensive, too complicate to use.

It isn't best buy, save your money and buy a Metz, mecablitz 54 AF-1 digital, is little less powerful, but is more cheaper.

And I can't activate mode FP with my Nikon N-90. Also I have some problems with Nikon Coolpix 8800, some times I turn on and off the camera and the flash several times because they don't comunicate properly.

Nikon D70 digital SLR and this...

Strengths: Powerful and versatile, the best so far in the market for Nikon cameras.

Weakness: lack of rechargeable battery pack.

Nikon D70 digital SLR and this SB-800 spped light the Best combination for the best pictures you can take. Difference between photos taken using built in flash and SB-800 is very vivid. In short, though slightly expensive for my budget I just love it.

Nikon did their homework with this...

Strengths: Dead on accurate with i-TTL, lightweight, great battery life.

Weakness: None.

Nikon did their homework with this one. Everything on this flash from the LCD's layout and icon driven menus to the simplified backlight controls are designed to help you get the job done. There is absolutely no reason why anybody with a Nikon should buy any other flash. The build quality it top notch. The new hotshoe "switch" lock the flash on firmly and eliminates that annoying wobble that SLR...
