Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20 Review
4.5 Star Review  Imaging Resource - Nov 10, 2009

Not quite shirt-pocketable, the small and light the Sony H20 packs a 10x zoom into a design that's fun to use and takes great shots too. Its 10-megapixel sensor impresses with good image quality, and the Sony H20's autofocus speed rivals some digital SLRs. We were particularly impressed with its sharp corners at wide-angle, and its image quality was good enough for 13x19-inch prints. Though it doesn't have the widest wide-angle lens, the Sony Cyber-shot H20 ranges from 38 to 380mm, a very long telephoto for such a small camera. Clearly we were impressed by the Sony H20's capabilities, and pleased to see that it has a 720p HD movie mode to boot. Its reasonable price is our final amazement, making it a clear Dave's Pick. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20
4 Star Review  productwiki.com - Jul 23, 2009

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20 is an ultra-thin digital camera released by Sony in April, 2009. A competitor to the DSC-W and DSC-T models, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20 maintains a relatively small 3” LCD screen, but packs a powerful punch with its whopping 10x / 10.1 megapixels Carl Zeiss optical zoom lens. Like its peers, the DSC-H20 features an the intelligent auto mode that enhances face pictures by capturing natural skin tones, identifying open/closed eyes, and reducing blurs without damaging image quality. In addition, the DSC-H20 records movies (w/sound) at 720p using an MPEG-4 codec. The DSC-H20 also boasts selected-face memory that allows the user to zero in on the main subject’s face. The next time the camera detects that face within the frame, it will automatically focus on that individual. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20 retails for $279.95 and comes with a 90 day limited warranty. Features Thin Body 3" LCD 10x ... PROS: (1) 10.1 megapixels (2) affordable price (3) 10x optical zoom (4) shoots high definition 720p video with sound (5) intelligent automatic systems - face detection, detects the best scene setting, avoids blinking etc ... CONS: (1) supports Memory Stick Duo cards only - more expensive and harder to find than other types (2) lacks wide-angle zoom (3) USB port is located on the bottom of the camera (4) b ulky multi-function USB hook-up

Fantastic
5 Star Review

Strengths: Everything is far better than any camera in this range. You can't get a crisper picture than this.

Weakness: Don't care for flash.

I have a $6000 Nikon, and this can run circles around it, except for the flash, which is a somewhat hard light, and sometimes too strong even with bringing it down.

Next best thing to a digital SLR
5 Star Review

Strengths: Pop up flash, fantastic zoom, low lag time between pictures, adjustable shutter

Weakness: Average indoor pictures, bulkier than most, lens cap, take out battery to charge

Most the the weaknesses I listed weren't really weaknesses to me. I use a digital SLR for yearbook pictures and I'm used to the battery, lens cap and like the bulk--it fits in my hand better. Indoor light pictures (candids in a school setting) don't turn out great, but generally point and shoots don't. I like the pop up flash, it goes a little farther than built-in ones, plus I don't have to worry about accidently putting my fingers over it. Love the zoom. Great for sports pictures. Took a bunch of gym classes outside and even close up, they are very clear. I haven't used the video feature yet. I bought is for the camera features it offered. My choices came down to this one or Panasonic Lumix dmc-zs1. I chose this because of the pop-up flash and faster lag time.

Great Auto Features, Amazing Video Quality
5 Star Review   By member samuz - May 3, 2009

Strengths: The camera is a pack of power. Intelligent sensing enables capturing of great images according to the light conditions. Amazing ease of handling. Pricey but worth every penny.

Weakness: The battery pack lasts 290 pictures (only). In built memory rather small given 10 MP capability.

This camera is lot better than many point and shoot out there. Pricey than competition but Japanese made and full of features. Video quality is 720p and it focuses well even in dim lights.
